As a bartender who works for a Hilton it boils my blood to have people act like this. We always try to serve people to the highest standard but that doesn't stop us from pointing out who the assholes are to our colleagues

About the first story: you can complain about the size of wine glass or the martini all you want, it's a measured amount of liquor, that much wont change. We'll get you extra juice if you want it a bit more full.

My last job had a Todd and honestly he was the best at his job and really had been there since the dawn of time and he would come in to save they day when it got busy. He was my hero.

With the one about the kid and the extra sugar, I can just imagine the guy’s attitude of “I know what’s best” being like a big balloon and then deflating when he got the bill and the reminder of his demands

I was a Todd at my last job. I did everything asked even though I didn’t always like it, I wasn’t paid what I deserved...that’s what really got to me...I had been passed over for a promotion 6-7 times in a two year period. I was fired (rather “termination”) in June 2019 with no specific reason. Two months before I was given the first/last dollar raise I’d ever get and a title that was a backhanded complement and overdue. I’m sure my job is rightfully suffering now. I’m glad I don’t work there anymore.

The job I retired from had a Todd'ette. She was the champion of quiet competence and direction. If she said it, everyone took it as gospel. Everyone also enjoyed watching her, just as quietly, tear jerks apart. Especially, the 'Do you know who I am?' jerks. There are times I really miss working with my team.

First? Did I do it? Finally! After years of seeking the coveted first comment, I have successfully- aaaand it's ruined. Hi everyone.

I got a kind of malicious complience story. For my dads whole adult life he worked for a big university (if i name dropped it youd know it in the USA), and over the years he had many different jobs (staff not faculty) At one point in the 80s he was helping negotiate a union deal, him on the side of the specific school he worked for that this deal was being worked on. At this point the back and forth had been going on for a couple months due to the person chosen as the rep being Very stubborn over often little things. One of the things they insisted on was adding these expensive water filters to each break room on every floor of the building because suppsoedly the water was disgusting. This was a big point of contention that the rep wouldnt give in on. But my dad had a feeling this was just a power trip or something. Hed tasted the water it was fine. The filters were an egregious and pointless addition. So my dad pulled his boss aside and said let me install 1 on her floor without telling anyone. He was given the go ahead and he snuck his way in and installed the filter into the break room, and ductaped a newspaper of that day to the filter. Well it just so happened that the meeting got postponed for an extra week. So rather than just a few days to demonstrate, he had a week and a half for them to drink that water and put it in their coffee. Come the day of the meeting and of course she brings up the disgusting water. "So youve personally been drinking this water?" "Yes" "Putting it in uour coffee tea and drinking it straight out of the glass?" "Yes and its disgusting you have to get these filters!" "Well can you follow me real quick?" My dad takes her to the sink and has her open up the cabinet and get a good look at the filter and undid all the duct tape and read the date of the newspaper. My dad says the look on her face as she realized she was caught was priceless. He managed to prove that the whole extra water filter thing was just some kind of power trip for her and that the filters were pointless. Supposedly the new deal was worked out in just a couple days after that

One thing I'm thankful for with the company I'm with now is that I have yet to meet a Steve. Safety is held in high regard so the company could be dealing with a multi-million dollar incident and they will still move mountains to send you home once you hit 15 hours.

I might be a Todd in training. I'm in my 20s, but I'm already known for getting anything and everything working. You give me a job, as long as you define exactly what you want, I'll just disappear and when I return it is done. Honestly, the projects listed at the start of the second story sounds amazing. I'd love the smart lights job. I've actually built my own smart LED. I've engineered a Nintendo Switch to camera stand adapter that I 3D-printed. It even locks the Switch into place with its own click system. Though I still need to get the screwthread correct on that one. A Todd is very rare, but very much appreciated. Unfortunately, you get far more Steves than Todds, and it's too common that a particularly bad Steve will get a Todd fired to protect their ego.

My father's a Todd for Waterstones. Trust me, he helps with the most mediocre things, like fitting a bulb, starting the coffee machine, doing a fire alarm test, getting power on if there's a power cut, etc... but when everything goes tits up and no-one knows what to do, like when a gas leak happened at the Bradford store, Bob's your uncle, he sorted it. A restaurant I used to work at as a bartender had these little carafes we used use to pour a glass of wine for our guests. Pour from the bottle to the carafe, somewhat as a measuring gauge, them bring glass and carafe to guest and pour wine. So many times I got complaints about it not being enough for a glass of wine or for the price, what ever. One time tho, one lady ordered white wine and got it in a white wine glass, as you do. She complained that the red wine glasses looked Fuller. Next round I brought her a red wine glass and her next glass of wine in the carafe. Poured her white wine into a white wine glass. She wasn't very amused, but my fellow bartenders had one heck of a laugh.

I'm the Todd at my work. Can disassemble a heavy piece of industrial machinery, repair it, recondition it, put it back in place and it starts like a charm at the first button push, the next hour, I can diagnose a faulty industrial computer and replace the needed parts. The only problem I have is my direct supervisor, he's a lazy, obnoxious and pretentious Steeve with good connexions at the higher-ups and he keeps walking the thin line between discipline and blatant bullying. hope someday he will cross the line and give me the opportunity to give you a great story :)
