Story 4: So basically he attempted to pull a scam, and then when it failed, he ran to his mommy. And then when the mom found out that he lied about the situation, he gets chewed out in Spanish. Yeah, I doubt he'll be trying to pull that ever again
"I was just desperate for some accountability thrown her way to create some positive change in the company" But OP did just that. Getting rid of an employee like that boss IS a positive change, and I'd argue that getting fired is a form of corporate accountability.
Story 2: He wanted his money back, he got his money back! Why act as if OP is taking advantage of him despite telling him how valuable it is? He is also a sh*tty dad for saying his son didn't deserve the figure, like wtf dude, who hurt you? The young man buying the figure right in front of the guy is the icing on this malicious compliance cake, lol.
Guessing he's some smug shit that doesn't fully see the value in certain things so thought it wasn't important & then was annoyed when he realized people would pay good money for that "yellow thing"
It doesn't sound like he did. He didn't say anything. He just didn't believe OP till he saw it, and what he saw wasn't what he wanted to see just after getting his return.
why are people hung up on the son not deesrerving it? jesus for all wee know the kid could ave been a brat or did something to be punished for oh no a child being diciplined the horror the shock
Second story, I felt a pit in my stomach when I heard the guy mention his son and knew this was going to end badly. He was already reaching special levels of stupid when he got as angry as he did over getting something different and *didn't* jump when he was told it was the most valuable version. But to say 'he doesn't deserve it' is so bad, good God. And even during the *pandemic* of all times? Father of the year material right there. Also, real quick, first story? OP shouldn't feel bad. They made the boss get held accountable and that's it. They didn't get the boss fired, the boss got themselves fired.
That dad in the second story sure has a bad case of what Michael Scott calls "Spiderface." "I'm going to return this figure worth over a hundred dollars that I only need to pay 15 for! That'll show my son!"
I mean, his son very well might have done something that would mean he didn't deserve a 150$ present. Doesn't make the dad less of an ass, but we have no idea what happened with the kid. Maybe he tried to feed a sibling to a wolf or something.
@@Estarile I get where you're coming from but with how the guy behaved either he's a terrible father or possibly even lied about having a kid because he tried to pull some dumb scam. He got snappy and refused to accept the rarer, more valuable one. It took him a month to 'talk with his son'. Then he still looked angry as hell when he saw the figure sell for so much right in front of his eyes.
"If you treat your employees right, they'll stick around for a while and that is worth more than a few pinched pennies" Another variation of "People don't quit jobs, they quit bosses".
@@rapheAltoid77 Well, people quit bad jobs too, if the pay sucks, the hours dont give freedom or whatever, people wont stick around, even if management is amazing. I've had a wonderful boss, but the job was terrible. The only reason I stuck around, was covid and I was on government support (which combined turned into somewhat decent pay, thats how terrible the job was). Nothing nearby was hiring (or at least, not my age range at the time, worse pay or worse job), and I didnt have the funds to move. Everyone else was about 5 years younger and could apply for other jobs a lot more easily, and they got accepted. So in the end, only me, my boss and 3 other people remained, to run a store that required at least 7 people to run. Once the store finally shutdown due to people no longer able to work, we all (except the boss), got severance payments for a few months, which gave me the funds to move AND the funds to survive for 14 months. Gave me time to prevent burnout, learn new skills and a job that pays me triple for less time. If I would have gotten paid like 5% more, I could have done so before covid.
*4th Story:* Stories like this serve as proof that humanity hasn't been getting dumber over time, we're just getting more of our acts of stupidity caught on camera.
So often I feel like I hear/read "I wasn't trying to get them fired" and every time I just think, you didn't get them fired, their behavior got them fired.
if the truth will ruin you, then you deserve to be ruined. so many people just can't seem to grasp that actions have consequences and if you don't want to face those consequences, don't do the thing.
Story 2: Y’all have no idea how giddy I was to hear this story. I used to work at an anime/geek store, and moments like that were pretty common. They were a highlight of the day, especially if the previous customer was a Karen.
@@anionleader I wouldn't say they were all stupid. A few were our regulars, fans and collectors, who would fall on hard times and just wanted their money back quickly, especially during 2020. They were always very chill and drop a lot of money on pre-ordering the good stuff, and a few I'd heavily push to keep their preorders as an investment if they really did need the money, but they would sadly declined. They were still a joy to have at the shop, since they'd buy other things once they were in order while having a nice chat about anime, comics or live action. Good times. Now the Karens though, oh yea, I loved doing the exact same thing OP did in their story. One time I had one come back with their child to buy w/e and when they saw a Funko POP they dropped the pre-order for being sold for $110 (it was $12 at the time of preorder btw) she got so mad that we "ripped her off" and demanded the item she "preordered". I had fun going back and forth with her as she demanded my manager, called me a theft and left saying she report the store for unfair practices. I did get in trouble for it by my GM for "failing to live up to customer expectations" w/e that means all things considered. W/e, quitting from there was still the best choice I ever made.
Even this old boomer knows about collectible figures. If I thought my son didn't deserve it I'd still buy it and save it for later. C'mon dad, collectibles have been a thing for a long time.
If he was dead set on having the original, he could have sold the rare one, bought a regular one, and pocketed the difference, but being right was more important I guess.
I have a friend who does long haul trucking. You know who is smart/in a reputable company based on if they have dash cams. The number of idiots who try to get payouts from 18 wheelers is staggering. Like, do you know how powerful those vehicles are? Brake checking an 18 wheeler is like a dumber form of Russian roulette. The weight those vehicle haul can be so massive that they literally can not stop. My friend has shown dash cam footage of people leaving this world because they swerve in front of a truck, slam the brakes, and then you see a car disappear into a cloud of debris. Plus, the truck drivers do not get charged because the truck cams are so high they have the vantage point to see above and show that there was no reason to hit the brakes. Dumb, dumb move. Respect trucks people, they are super powerful vehicles and the people moving them are just trying to do their jobs. Edit: my friend has shown dash cam footage from other drivers. He has not, thank God, had any brake checks where he has made contact with another vehicle.
Oh my gosh, people have actually died from attempting to pull that scam? That's nuts. Personally, I don't feel completely comfortable if I've got a big truck right behind me when I'm on the motorway as I know if something goes wrong up ahead it's going to take them a lot longer to come to a stop.
Story 2: Yeah, I'm completely lost on what this was guy was trying to do (besides get the $5 back), because something tells me that either he's trying to pull a scam, or he's just that obnoxious.
Reminded me of that other seller, who had a kid buy baseball cards, sprung a rare one that had a mail-in offer attached, he told the kid but the dimwit dad was so stupidly protective and also assumed the OP was a scammer, so in the end, he snooze he loses.
I've known people like this. Winning an argument is more important to them than finding a solution or the truth. He simply didn't want to listen because that would mean he was wrong.
he's the type of old-fashioned person who thinks "toys are for kids and they can't possibly be expensive and that person who's telling me otherwise? they're lying!"
On the last story, I figured the truck driver was an owner-operator right away. I love those kinds of moments. The “I _am_ the manager/owner” type stories. When I was a kid I spent my summers and Christmas breaks with my dad on his semi truck. You wouldn’t believe how many people try to pull these scams. They see the ads from lawyers talking about trucking accidents, and think they could get a big paycheck if they get hit by a truck. They don’t realize what a dangerous game they’re playing. Thank goodness for dash cams. Those idiots can’t get away with anything these days since most trucks have dash cams.
The Funko Pop story gave me war flashbacks to working at Hot Topic during the peak of the Pop Vinyl craze. The number of rules we had to have on them for both employees and customers was ridiculous. We had to place limitations on how many could be bought because resellers would swipe them out from under actual collectors (ESPECIALLY on release day). Rules that if you push, shove, hit, yell, etc., we reserve the right not to sell to you and you will be asked to leave. Chase variants had to be on the sales floor for at least 24 hours before employees were allowed to buy them (which NEVER happened because chases were so valuable) Now I have a bunch of plastic figurines that aren’t really worth anything but at least they’re characters I like lol
Steve is an amazing employer and a brilliant businessman! Kind, considerate and generous is what keeps your employees happy and the work coming in. He did brilliantly towards Jim.
Story 3: So the flat rate guys get paid more, and get a free lunch. But hourly guys get paid less, with less benefits, and still have the risk of running out of work which is less pay? Jim was dumb for asking for this. But it's really gross how poorly hourly guys get treated.
There's something similar here in my town. The 'hourly people' (to compare to the story) are highschool kids that can only work after school versus the 'per yard' people who were full time and can be at a site at 6am until 4pm when the school kids take over. However they don't just get paid min wage, they get school credits for helping, and they get a free meal. As the other group doesn't get school credits they also get a free breakfast.
Last story: Braking or cutting in front of a truck is EXTREMELY dangerous. Sometimes the load the truck is carrying is so heavy that all they can do is hit the brakes to no avail while the truck jams on top of whatever is in front of it. I've heard a story from a guy once about his friend who died because a woman has hit the brakes in front of him, and he was carrying aluminum coils. The coils broke free from the cargo compartment and broke their way across the cabin, smashing him in the process.
As someone who has a modest Funko collection, I also find it hilarious. Especially since one of my figures is a limited edition Dead Pool my brother got as an abandoned pre-order 😂
Story 4 was the funniest backfire I ever heard. The dude runs to mommy dearest to try and lash out at O.P and it backfires so bad. Hope the scammer got the scolding of a lifetime that he won't soon forget. Here's hoping the dude never tries that stunt again
Story 2: Yep, people don't seem to understand that just cause YOU don't think it's worth that much, doesn't mean others also won't think it's worth that much.
In 2017, I was at GameStop a week after the Nintendo Switch came out. I figured that I wasn’t going to get a copy before the fall, but there was lady in front of me who was apparently more optimistic. She asked if the store had any Switches, and the cashier said that they had a bundle that came with Breath of the Wild, Bomberman, a backpack, and a second set of controllers. She refused because she only wanted the Switch and BotW. As she left I rang up my order and asked about the price of the bundle. It turns out that it costed the same as a Switch, Zelda, and the extra controllers, and the other items were basically free. I still use the backpack to this day.
story 1: Imagine being such a Cluster of Bees (PLEASE NOTE: "Cluster of Bees" ONLY refers to abusive instances of Cluster B) Boss that you have an entire DEPARTMENT as a scapegoat. The other departments were the "Golden Children". Narcissistic Bosses behave in this manner because they believe if they have a scapegoat to point to, it'll take the heat off them. Apparently this works way too often.
As a person from Laredo and this being the biggest important export city in the nation, yeah sounds about right😭 especially with the Hispanic mother, screaming in Spanish😭
I had an assistant manager at a previous job that was just awful. They would constantly belittle and micromanage everyone, take 15-20 minutes breaks every hour out of sight of the cameras, and was just all around an awful person. Every time ANYONE filed a report to the store manager or HR, they would be met with the typical bs about how all we do is complain and that they're not going to go through with the report because we were just lying. I should add that OTHER Assistant Managers also had the same issues and results when they filed complaints too. One day I just had enough of them and some other unrelated issues and just put my two weeks in. I ran into a coworker a week after I quit and it turns out that they, along with two others quit a few days after I left. For that same manager. It's no wonder they couldn't keep people for more than a few weeks.
what we need to do is bring back home economics and teach our kids how to do things like calculate deals and taxes. as well as life skills like cleaning and cooking.
Ugh. If I knew that the item I won had that high of a resale value I would paid up, sell it and buy another normal one for the collection. Parents like him are just bad.
first story: this type boss that end up get someone killed cause they don't care about safer rule and they find cheap way to cut cost and OP boss probably didn't knew what OP job was and didn't care till that meeting and her boss big boss came and fired her
3rd story: Man,I want,no, gonna be Steve from now on. Man is an example to live by. Even tho I probably would had been a bit of a tease, but not too far
Story 4: I have a story similar to this. I was on my way to work, feeling good. I had finally paid off my car loan, the title was on the way, I had a full tank of gas, and good car feelings. Then I ran into traffic. Total grid lock. I wind up behind a semi-truck without a trailer, a smaller one used by a local tree farm. This guy was not using his brake to hold himself stopped, but he is bouncing on the clutch. He'd roll backwards about 5-10 feet, then let out the clutch to catch himself, and roll forward again. I kept myself well back from him, about 25-30 feet to give him room. I could see the driver through the little back window in the cab. Then I saw him lean way over to the passenger side of the cab, and he starts rolling backwards. We are in grid lock. I have no where to go. I lean on my horn when he got to about 15 feet, and he just kept rolling still reaching for the passenger side. Then it happened... crunch as his dumb ass lets his truck roll backwards into my finally paid off car. Good day ruined. I fight my way over to the side of the road. There wasn't any steam coming from under my hood, so I knew he didn't crush my radiator, but I was still pissed. Since traffic was so bad, he didn't get very far. I ran to his truck, beat on the door, then tried opening it myself and found it unlocked. I started yelling obscenities about his intelligence, then told him to pull over. He did. I kept my head as cool as I could while I got his info and took pictures. For his part, he knew he screwed up. He was apologetic, gave all info I asked for, and we left. I got to work, filed a police report while on a break, then at lunch I called his company. Told them I would be calling their insurance company, but I wanted to make sure their man reported the accident to them before I did, and how he caused it. We talked for a few minutes, they made their assurances, I joked about how I had just made the last payment on my car the day before so of course this happened. They again apologized, said they would make sure everything would be taken care of, and we left the call laughing.
Story 2: Next time the experts tell you about a rare item that you could get for cheap or free, you can always check the internet if you don't trust them.
Well they are collectables, and considered a “luxury item”. So the rarer ones definitely get up there in price. That’s just how collectors items are, and people are willing to pay for them so they just keep getting pricier.
@@somescottishlassie891And behind the funkos there are games, movies, series, books, videogames, and a helluva lot more. That's why they end up being so expensive on resale sometimes. Either they're from a niche series that got a limited number of figures released, or from one that's very popular at the moment and the specific funko is the equivalent of the shiny or holographic cards. That's what makes them valuable to the people that collect them. Me? I don't particularly like the figure style tbh. I won't throw it away if I get one as a gift, but I won't spend money on it either kind of thing.
That Boss Story. Its once again the case of if the company shows loyalty to its employees, the employees will show loyalty to it. It sounds like Steve's employees would take a bullet for him, because he treated them well. I had some NCO's like that when I was in the Army. They'd get out of their leader meeting, and knew damn well we had some BS tasks that 'needed' to get done, so he'd take our breakfast order and run to our local Gas Station/Convienence store and grab us some hot food. Loved that dude. I'd kick piles of rocks in Afghanistan if he asked me to.
Hey the start of this video is relatable to my irl life. 5 of the seven employees at one location sent in complaints about one person all at once with emails that were so similar one person could of written them.
Dabney seems to have become quite fixated on r/Petty/ProRevenge and r/AITA. 😀 AITA can be amusing sometimes but the revenge can be a bit long and boring IMO. I miss r/EntitledParent/Kid and r/ChoosingBeggers, and r/NiceGirls/Guys were hilarious! The r/Karen and r/B!rch subreddits and very popular so I hope he thinks about adding them to his to do list. 😊
