That grandma was the maddest of madlasses. She was the hero everyone needed but no one deserved. RIP OPs Grandma. She proved that not all heroines wears capes.
I mean, the pastors and church didn't really get screwed over at all, unless you look at the story from a perspective of entitlement. They didn't lose money, they just didn't get money that wasn't theirs to begin with; so no biggie.
@@abrahamthebewildered1448 yeah but being embarrassed like that in the south is just as bad. Especially if its a tight-knit community. People will talk
@@neffyg35 It's inconvenient for sure, but the way some people in the comments are talking about how "screwed" they got, and "Never mess with a senior citizen" , you'd think she held the title to the church and left it to the leaders of the other church. Now that'd be a revenge sweeter than a ripe plum drizzled with honey.
I think she’s an eternal hero for a lot of people as well. She’s awesome! (This post reminded me I gotta call my grandma today (I call her at least once a week as it is))
This is honestly goals. Getting the literal last word in an argument with a whole organization AND doing some awesome charity at the the same time! This is the type of positive chaos I want my will to cause.
Atheist though I may be, I can appreciate this story very much; this woman was a great person trying to help her flawed religious community, rather than a flawed person being helped by a great religious community.
God is very definite on what constitutes a flawed religious community. In the book of Revelation seven very specific examples are given. BigWhiteChurch definitely has some Laodicean vibes.
Completely agree! I am Christian, however there are many things I don’t take to heart, but the grandma in this story is someone I strive to be somewhat like. My respect for her is high, Christian or not, she’s a great person. In the end, that’s all I care about, not whether or not someone is religious, just if they’re a decent person or not.
@@BigT.Larrity no it's not no need to be rude there are plenty of storys And like wise there are plenty of storys showing non Christian's as equaly bad
I've heard this story on other channels before, and it is ALWAYS satisfying. I said it over there, but I love how granny put the choosy beggar preachers in the front of the room where everyone could see their humiliation, arranged the bequeathals in increasing order, etc. I def agree, revenge of the year. Side note, I still love rSLash's "wrinkly" gramma voice.
Sometimes I think these "Christian" churches don't even read the Bible. Because if they did then they would know that they are never suppose to treat people like this.
At this point, anyone who claims to follow the bible and treat others like shit because their not holy, are just people ready to enter hell once they pass.
A bunch of so called 'Christians' clearly haven't read their bible if you ask them about it. Someone did a poll years ago asking American Christians if a non-Christian could go to heaven if they lived a good moral life. A whole bunch of them said yes, even though their bible makes clear the answer is no, as non-Christians 1) Were not baptized & 2) Commit the sin (in the eyes of the Christian God) of worshiping other gods.
@Ace Trainer Mae-day If I'm reading your statement right you are saying that racism against whites is much less then any other group. In other words whites are a minority in being targeted by racists remarks and should be over looked because they are a minority. Good to know your that kind of person who think minorities shouldn't get a voice
@Ace Trainer Mae-day where's the fun in that P.S I never said I was better or perfect I know I have flaws and questionable morality and sometimes it takes a outside voice to get me thinking are my views in the right place. Just something to remember when someone criticizes you.
@Ace Trainer Mae-day and I said where's the fun in that. In all truth I've tried bettering myself, there no right or wrong, all of this is a worthless decision to try to prove that one of us is wrong to feel better In this never ending sea of society
My grandma got kicked out of her church that she dedicated her entire life to because she felt the LGBTQ+ should be welcomed with open arms. They literally wrote her a letter to kick her out because they couldn't say it to her face. My grandma did so much for her church; she and my grandpa did all the lawn care, did a bunch of donation dinners where not only did they work them they also provided all the food, did every event including trips and what not and she even started a craft show where the money to purchase a spot to sell went to the church instead of her and it was the biggest craft show in our area and ran for 24 years. It was a big part of my life and I worked it every year from the time I was a kid till I had my own child. She's now apart of a pretty cool church with a tattooed pastor that accepts LGBTQ+ people. It was an Episcopalian church btw for anyone wondering. I'm just mad they had no problem taking all her kindness until she asked for one thing; don't turn people away that want to embrace god.
Quoting a friend of mine when we were doing a Bible reading; 1 John 4:19-21 "We loved because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother or sister, whom they had seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister."
That Revenge almost had the ring of a “Thus Sayeth The Lord” Curse of an Old Testament Prophet. When a Church gets bogged down with issues like the size of Pastor’s Salaries at the expense of Good Doctrine or Christian Living, Revenge like this happens. If anything, what Grandma did was a love tap in comparison to what should have happened. I can almost hear the heavenly echo of “Well done my faithful Servant” at that funeral.
I noticed way back when I did go to church that there was always a request for extra money for a "building fund" or some such expense. I hear now instead of a simple collection plate that one drops money into there are envelopes where you put the cash, your name and amount....for "tax purposes" and to see who is buying that stairway to heaven.
I practice Wicca and was raised Christian, and I can wholeheartedly say I love that grandma. Her husband, friends, and OP’s family seem wonderful. Her life was truly celebrated and honored. Now more people can remember this woman for who she was: a loving, faithful mother, friend, and kind soul. She is in heaven, looking at her family and friends lovingly. I was almost moved to tears! R.I.P., Kind Southern Grandma.
He literally does. In the "parable of the mote" (Matthew 7), Jesus basically says to remove the log from your own eye before trying to remove the splinter from your friend's eye.
"As you have done for the least of these, so you have done for me. I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to eat. I couldn't even afford clothes, so you clothed me. *When I was on my deathbed, racked with pain, you visited me, and comforted me.* I was in prison, and you made sure I wasn't alone." I don't know if this is actually in the Bible - if it is, I've probably left something out - and I've probably left out a lot of it, but I thought this was worth mentioning.
Even in Death, Grandma was a total Badass! And still teaching that church a lesson! As an Ordained Minister myself, I run into this type of thinking on a weekly basis. Maybe that is the reason my Congregation has grown outrageously large. I preach to NEVER look at a person's skin color, but instead at their deeds, and words!
I'm not a religious person, but I know an awesome person when I see one! This OP's Grandma was an absolute saint, and her awesome legacy deserves to be remembered
Okay but I can't believe the church. The grandma was so dedicated and not one of those people wanted to visit her after she broke her back? That's so sad.
Man, I love it when people get revenge on a-holes in their wills. This was better than the one about the guy who created a point system for his will. (Visits, calls etc) Where the good grand kid got 8,000 or so points compared to his brothers and cousins triple digit points and his dads and uncles double digit points. But man, some people get awful when inheritance is involved. My grandma did it best. All her monetary assets, split in 3 evenly between my mom, aunt and uncle (her kids) and the grand kids mostly already got theirs before she passed. She gave me, my sister and cousins $10,000 when we got our own place. My youngest sister and youngest cousin got that after grandmas died, from my mom and uncle respectively then they were older and got their own places. It just happened to take place after she died.
Unfortunately, this story probably isn't true. The reading of the wills isn't a thing that exists. If they're including that (and in so much detail) it's likely this story is a fabrication. There might be elements of truth (like OP has a grandma that died), but it's probably mostly a tall tale.
@@sierrasouthwell9237 It's entirely possible she may have left instructions and payment for the lawyer to perform this stunt just to make the entire family party to AssPastor and PompousPastor's humiliation, but you're actually right, will readings don't usually happen. You get a notice that a bequest is due you from the Probate Court, then you go pick up the check or whatever from the lawyer's office. The fact that most people _aren't_ aware of this is what makes this scheme work.
@@sierrasouthwell9237 it's stated that the lawyer is actually op's uncle, so it could still be true that she specifically instructed this to the lawyer who's her own son or son-in-law
I just wanted to thank RSlash for all those days of cleaning my room and listening to him, or for the times I could just listen to him while doing homework. Even the nights when I woke up to his videos playing, I have no idea why but thank you! I've come to love your videos and how hard you work to make them. I know I haven't been around for the longest time, but I look forwards to coming home to see your videos, or to wake up to them! You're an inspiration, have a great day!
I used to listen to his videos while waiting for Raft to load (took about 1 video), until this new update that shortened loading times down to about 30 seconds to a minute.
I feel so bad that OP's grandma was treated so terribly by her long-time church. Good on her for the final outcome though - Granny was sharp as a tack to the end.
Man I’m so blessed for my Pastor and his son, who have literally told my gay, black Christian friend that he should serve in the church because he has such a heart for Jesus. Jesus said to love everyone, hate the sin, love the sinner, and not to treat anyone as less than human for any reason. People like that give us a bad rep 😪
Im so glad to hear there is a church left for the people. Too many of the churches today claim to be for Jesus but prove to be self serving, man made, "organized religion" only in it for the ease of using christianity to rob from people. Its all about the money. Let us never forget WE ARE THE CHURCH. Not a building... but the people. God bless.
Dear Bamafan4Jesus....if you ever read this, know that I gave your grandmother a standing ovation at the conclusion of this video. She is a true example of what a Christian is. She is an amazing human being, and I know God will not forget her. Thank you for this story and for renewing my faith in humanity a little bit.
Remember people, Religion isn't a 'I do this for God and Heaven so it's ok' pass when you're a preacher. A Preacher's job is to reach out and be ingrained in the community, which is what OP's Grandma did more than the actual Preacher. One will be greeted gladly at the Gates of Heaven, the other will have years to regret their life choices as this family will talk about what happened with the community....
There are two ways I have noticed absolutely amazing elderly people tend to be: 1. Super nice and accepting 2. *"You have messed with something that should not be messed with, now prepare to be yote in the most epic way possible"*
I feel so bad for the grandma, I’ve been harassed by Christians when I’ll go places and my saint Christian friend always sticks up for me, he basically throws bible questions at them and they freeze up and walk away
There's this line Jesus said about how at the end of days God will say "I never knew you" and people will say "but have I not done mighty works in your name" and God will say "I never knew you depart from me" and I'm pretty sure people like this are exactly the type of people He was talking about!
I've been a fluctuating atheist and deist for long time. But that grandma restored a bit of my faith there. Despite being deist I still go to church when I can (pandemic doesnt help but) this really put a smile on my face especially as a black person.
Grandparents always are the kindest and greatest people on earth. They are always there and they help everytime someone needs help. I couldn't stand a life without my grandparents.
I recognize my grandma in this lady. She gave 75+ years to the church but when she got alzheimers they pretty much left her to her own devices. I was always so angry about that.
Thinking about it, my Nana went to Catholic church more than once a week for 60+ years, but after she was killed trying to cross the street to get to church, they didn't even send a letter.
For that last story, If your church treats you like that don't give up on religion find a better church, my grandfather has been getting calls from our church at least every other week during the lockdowns and he has no money to leave when he leaves, they just care about him.
Yeah! Christians are supposed to comfort and support you and leave you feeling better, not worse, and there are plenty out there who do leave you feeling better not worse!
That was the best revenge story I've ever heard. Nobody got hurt and everybody got taught a lesson. That grandma was a true Christian, a Christian my atheist self would proudly call a friend.
I may be atheist, but that grandma sounds like an angel in human form. Such a wonderful human being. Selfless, caring and generous. She was a true hero
Talk about divine retribution. As a southern white Christian, I hope god smiled at her little game. Justice was delivered and no one was hurt. Perfect divine punishment.
You can hear grandma laughing from heaven. And that church just learned an important lesson : If you're poor in spirit, you'll end up being poor in purse.
The OP's grandmother is the type of person everyone should consider as a role model. I'm glad they shared the story, as it honors her memory, and graces us with the knowledge of her existence.
Whilst grandmas revenge was incredible, I feel so sad at how she suffered in her last 10 years. She deserved love and friendship and to be surrounded by kindness. What a sweet soul.
I love your channel i know there's lots of reddit stories and Reddit RU-vid channels. Even though I've heard the story i like your voice i listened again.
This is the single most satisfying revenge story I have heard on this channel! This lady reminds me so much of my own grandma who passed away a few years ago. This is exactly what Christianity is about! Not about bigotry or hatred or intolerance. God loves every single one of you, no matter how you look or believe!
My nanny is going through this too in the UK. She went to church daily! So cooked, she ran events, she had the father over for dinner monthly, her sisters are nuns, she gave a high % of her money every month. Now she had dementia and a brain tumor guess who's never there. Not once.
