A family friend's husband is similar. He had a job in this other state they haven't been to, and wanted to move them. The problem? He can't keep a job for more than a couple weeks. Literally that's so abusive of him to do. He knew how anxious that made her and he decided let's make it a thousand times worse by making her believe her worst fear actually came true. Yeah, sadly when one of the OP explained they're diagnosed autistic it explained how they ended up with a psychopath without realizing it. In that relationship, it seems there are two masks. The autistic mask, which is to assist in acting like you're a neurotypical human but is incredibly stressful to do, and the abusive mask, which I think we all know what that one's for. Abusive personalities tend to seek out people who have autism because they can do more which would be considered abusive without their partner necessarily realizing it because autism just makes figuring out normal social cues a nightmare.

Nope, to the cat story. My spouse knows that my animals come before him. He's joked once to get rid of my sons cat, and when I told him he's going before my son's cat (cat and son are the same age and my son is like op) spouse stopped real quick when I showed him the door.
The impression that I get from the one where the guy sold the house isn't a brain tumor like the narrator suggests. His level of urgency and defensiveness when questioned suggests fear, and I get the sense that he's in some kind of trouble, and trying to leave before it can catch up with him. I'd guess that he has a place to live lined up, but doesn't want to tell the family, because they'd tell their friends.
