It's my last day with the Kawasaki ZX4RR, and I wanted to treat myself to a ride round the New Forest to get some good fresh air and see some animals. The ZX4 was a compliant and happy partner for this activity but my relevant thoughts did get interrupted by cute ponies, which is a nicer problem to have.
The bike has since been returned, and I have Svarty back! Someone asked if I'd swap Svarty for the ZX4RR, my answer of course is no. First of all, Svartys value wouldn't make much of a dent in the going price for a ZX4RR (about £10k for the performance edition, Svarty is worth about £3k on a good day), but more importantly, I love bullying the Svartpilen and I enjoy his versatility and hardiness, I feel like the little Ninja, although capable, wouldn't love being messed with as much and I'd feel bad if it got trashed. The Ninja has more of a 'main bike' vibe whereas Svarty is very much 'the other one'...

I appreciate the calm way you enjoy the animals and not wanting to scare them or the people walking or on bicycles. Sharing the highway and staying in control and having fun too. Best rider ive seen on the internet. Live long , have fun. Thx

Young Mistress Elizabeth! Good morrow. A fine presentation, from a fine part of Britain. Sadly, I suspect any positive and glowing responses regarding this particular machine will be few and far between when one considers bikes such as this are now, sadly, out of fashion with tastes erring toward parallel twins, especially if they sport 270° cranks. This bike emitted, in my view, a most delightful, turbine like wail that only an inline-4 can achieve. Quite wonderful. I sincerely hope there is a place for bikes like this and it will be a successful product for Kawasaki. Other Japanese manufacturers,..... take note. By the way, the green hues of the bike contrasted rather well, with the somewhat 'magenta-esque' tones of your helmet. 😉

Hi must be a lovely place to ride around with all those animals around all though a bit slow Kawasaki is a lovely looking bike but to small for me great video take care ride safe

You do get pigs in the forest, usually autumn I think. They let them out to eat some of the acorns which are poisonous for horses 💜

Good call on the new insta camera. I use the insta one RS with the mic adaptor and purple panda mic. You can get rid of some of the rasp if you go into the settings and lower the db rating. Think mines on -7db

This Kawasaki looks bloody ace, small bikes rock; I’d like to try one out. The engine tone sounds meaty on your camera microphone too. I thought it might be very good on fuel as well which would also be very appreciated these days 😊

@R1_Liz All animals (and most people) are greedy. I did think about changing my Thruxton for one but giving away 800cc hmm I don't know, plus I already have a 4 cylinder Kawasaki, anyway it's still a beautiful machine

I love popping along to the new Forrest especially when there’s not any holiday makers. As you say it’s not somewhere to go fast it’s just lovely to Bimble about and stop to say hello to the animals. Anyway what’s wrong with cows 😂😂at least they don’t bite. 🤣😂🤣😂 my first job was milking cows by hand and apart from being shat on they are just inquisitive. You picked a great day. Lovely video. Quite agree Liz, the stepped licensing is a waste of everyone’s time. The average 20 year old isn’t in a position to buy / ensure an R1/S1000/Fireblade etc anyway. I think people will buy these as a fun second bike, I know if it had an aluminium frame I would have been very tempted.

Good review and fun to see a place I've never been to but have heard about. You mentioned disappointing fuel mileage, I'm curious about what the ZX4R's range is from a full tank.

Thanks! This might be a question for the internet really, I was filling up as I went without paying enough attention to the miles… Google says 165 miles from a 15 litre tank, so about what you’d expect I think

Beautiful scenery! I really like this bike but hp is restricted in the US. Is there any notable vibration in the grips or elsewhere?

The ZXR looks great, sounds amazing and it's only £55 a year for road tax! Is the audio connection to your new camera waterproof? Video looks great.

Another female rider here. I currently own and ride a vfr 400 nc30. I love the bike but fancy something newer. I'm a bit tied between the zx4rr and cbr600rr (2024 models). Is the zx4rr OK around towns and on uk country roads? More manageable than a 600 sports bike?

You don’t! I think I’ve done too many packing videos and all the stuff is the same each time, so you’re getting a day 1 walk around of the bike loaded up and when I get home I’ll do a kit debrief and talk about how everything performed ☺️

I think so! It’s a great introduction to big sports bikes, it’d probably be a brilliant bike to learn on and also an appropriate bike for the tests since it has that tiny turning circle 😅
