Ram’s New 1500 Ramcharger has "UNLIMTED" Range That SHOCKS Rivals!
Looking back, it's unbelievable that no carmaker has yet to imitate the optional range extender offered by the BMW i3. The extender provided the distinctive i3 with a gas-powered safety net in case the battery ran short. However, BMW discontinued it in favour of a larger battery in 2019. It was a converted motorcycle engine. The idea is now resurrected in full on the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. Similar to the i3, the Ramcharger is an electric vehicle (EV) equipped with a gas-powered onboard charger-a large V6 in this instance. Range worry will be eliminated for sure, but price concern? We're going to see.
The Ramcharger, which was unveiled earlier this month at a private event presenting the complete 2025 Ram 1500 portfolio, is meant to serve as a transition vehicle between the gas-powered 1500s and the fully electric Ram 1500 REV. Though the truck's drive architecture is closely connected to the REV, the onboard charger is really a variant of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that drives the base-model gas-powered 1500. It has two electric motors that operate the wheels and a 92 kWh battery pack inside its chassis (compared to the REV's 168 or optional 229 kWh packs).

Almost there. There's no reason why an electric drive motor can't also have a built in generator while going down the road for truly unlimited power and range.

I see a lot of people complaining the design of this truck. What passenger stock truck out there that does 0-60 in 4 seconds? What 1/2 ton passengers truck out there that has 690 mile range? What 1/2 ton truck out there can tow or has capability of this truck? If this design is so bad, let’s hear your design. We’re waiting.

Can it hold charge while driving home from a supercharger and also charge at a standstill at 130kw to power a home microgrid? THAT would be epic. A timer or battery discharge percent like the silverado is all you would need. Or just have the truck start and stop once the battery is recharged. Im all in on the ramcharger if so.

Geez, Lets do the math. 690 range on 27gallon tank = 25miles per gallon. I got 33miles per gallon on my Ram Eco Diesel during a 3500 mile road trip driving + 5mph over speed limits 70 T0 80MPH. Truck is a 2022 Big Horn Level 2 trim. Rides like a sofa going down the road. Price of the truck 53000. So eliminating the Eco Diesel is foolish move. They should have created a hybrid version of the Eco Diesel. Once the EV mandate gets retracted maybe things will change. In the mean time dealers are having problems selling EVs due to the high costs and the interest rates for the normal Joe. Lets get real-we are all in big trouble with what is going on. VOTE OIL

Yep but if you only take an occasional long trip and drive mostly within the 145 electric range then plug it in everyday and your mileage will be great. I have a PHEV Kia Sorento with only 32 miles all electric range yet most of my driving is local under 32 a day and avg 89 mpg!

what is the value proposition? if all it can achieve as a grocery getter is 20 mpg, why bother? 20 mpg is average for an ICE, at greatly lower price tag, and at mucho less tech to fail.
