Ranking EVERY Smash Ultimate DLC Character 

Personally I disagree with Kazuya’s placement. You mention how it’s not that special after getting the shotos (Ryu and Ken.) and Terry, but ignore how at least 10% of the complete roster is comprised of sword users. IMO, Kazuya was a breath of fresh air. There are only 4 fighting game characters in smash which isn’t a lot, but multiple “anime sword characters”. And before you accuse me of being salty, I’m not. I actually really like your list! And I appreciate how you didn’t just lump every 1st party DLC character at the bottom like every other smash reveal tier list.

Probably the most unbiased and fair review I’ve seen yet.

when the video started all i could say is "this is a road, this is a rainbow road", but also you're SO HIDEOUSLY.... BEAUTIFUL, i really enjoyed your reasoning for why you put every character where you did the steve section really resonated with me and that's all that matters, the banjo reaction is still my favorite reaction hands down! keep up the great work!!

Sora's up Smash comes from KH3, his down smash comes from KH2, and his throws come from Dream Drop Distance, so while he does take primarily from KH2, he's technically a composite version of Sora.

TLDR; Yeah this got pretty long so here's the list from worst to best. Plant, Byleth, Min Min, Banjo, Kazuya, Hero, The Aegis, Steve, Sora, Sephy, Joker and Terry. Wanna know why? Go at your own risk. Long version: I've had to think of a long while for my personal ranking. I haven't played any of the games the (paid) DLC came from but my placings are probably gonna hinge more on whether I like playing them or not rather than looking t their content as a whole. I'll try to be as objectively subjective as possible though. *#12 Plant:*Plant Gang will always live on but come on. There isn't exactly a contest here. No stage or music and they come from a series that still has good canidates for characters. Plus his playstle is certainly reminicent of a Piranha Plant but it kind of eh at best Sorry Plant, it had to be this way. *#11Byleth**:* I *really* like playing Byleth. They're part of my top 3 DLC characters to play. But I just could not put them higher cause.....well....it's Byleth. A horribly timed DLC fighter with the worst trailer in Smash history. Three Houses music hits but it's doesn't *hit* hit. Their stage is fine but nothing to special, just a standard travelling stage. *#10 Min Min* I like everything *around* Min Min. Banger stage. Banger music. Min Min herself though is just so bland. She just does the same thing over and over cause that's basically all she can do. At least she reps ARMS amazingly. Boring, repetive and makes you want to play something else. *#9 Banjo* Okay okay here me out. Banjo is definitely a well deserved character and I'm glad he definitely should be here. It's just that.....nothing hits for me. The character, while having great references, basically requires spamming projectiles to get anywhere. Spiral Mountain is pretty nauseating. The music is fine but doesn't work in a Smash setting for me. That's all just me though. *#8 Kazuya: This one mostly comes down to me not really knowing how to play him properly thus not really liking him to much. Other than that, Kazuya's awesome. Great love for his home moveset. Mishima Dojo is an awesome and fun stage. The music is pretty sick. Yeah, it's really uphill after Banjo. *#7 Hero* Hero will never not be funny. Since they have such an expansive special moveset, Hero games are so unique from one another. I just find that pretty fun. Other than that he's pretty middle of the road. The stage is okay but the music is not a vibe whatsoever. *#6 The Aegis* These are my favourite DLC characters to play. They are so much fun, both of them. Like Byleth though, I don't feel comfortable putting them too high. Xenoblade tracks are amazing and their stage is okay. Nothing special but nothing bad. *#5 Steve* I have never played Minecraft and it still feels like Steve just jumped (or mined in this case) out of his game to Smash.....which is partially his problem. Steve's are playing a totally different game and it's not fun on the giving or recieving end. If I had a nickel for everytime I got annoyed by a Steve, I'd be righting this comment in a mansion. Other than his playstyle he's pretty cool. Minecraft World's a cool stage and he has some pretty good tracks. *#4 Sora* I honestly can't think of a btter way to end the FP and an era of Smash in general that wasn't Sora with how amazing his inclusion was. Was a bit of a shame we couldn't get a bit more uniqueness probably due to Disney. I'm fine with him being more simplistic though. Hollow Bastions a pretty standard stage and the music's pretty okay. Kind of just spam Fates of Sorrow or whatever it's called though. Just so good. *#3 Sephiroth* The only trailer I think tops Sephiroth is "Everyone is Here". Other than that it's no contest whatsoever, it was too damn good. His moveset is really fun and he really gives off that "you're playing the villain energy". Plus, I can finally say we have actual FF content in this game without feeling like I'm lying to myself. *#2 Joker* Having Joker as the start of FP 1 was one of the greatest ideas Nintendo has had. This was an almost perfect bang to start with. While I'm not the biggest fan of playing him, his moveset is pretty cool. Momentos is a pretty fine stage and do I really need to talk about Persona music. We already know. *#1 Terry* I did not know who Terry was before Smash and I do not care. He is (in my opinion) the best DLC. He reps his game but to a point where my tiny brain can get his inputs. His stage is my favourite DLC stage. He has 50 music tracks of mostly bangers (that's more than most Nintedo franchises). Overall just amazing DLC and (if he was more well known) would've been a great end to FP 1.

I like your list! Sephiroth and Banjo and Kazooie are my fave inclusions. And low key Byleth too lol….I love three houses SOOOOO much. (Although having Dimitri in would’ve been cool 😩). Sephiroth I like bc of Final Fantasy being my favorite franchise and I grew up with B&K so that’s why I love them.

I can safely say that I disagree with Piranha Plant and you were correct in thinking that I was a plant main 😂 Yes he’s silly but that’s why I love the bugger. Also, it has a great recovery and that automatically makes him good in my eyes as I die from pits more than anything else in Smash (and by pits I mean bottomless pits not Kid Icarus Pits)

Wasn't expecting much but this list is good, even with my insane amount of bias towards Banjo. It's easy to forget Joker's impact, since it was so long ago, but he definitely deserves the #1 spot. The only thing I would disagree with is putting Pyra/Mythra over Kazuya, even if you did pretty much admit that you just didn't want to put all the 1st parties at the bottom. Kazuya has an awesome moveset with a ton of depth to it though, and both the Tekken music selection and stage were better than the XC2 ones. Still, good job putting Banjo above Steve at least.

2:36 That decision would be even more disappointing cause Sakurai would have showed us some bias towards one route. The best decision was all the three leaders Pokemon fighter system or Byleth. On the other hand, Byleth being the final pass 1 character could be not hype for fans but in marketing term was the best decision, cause Three Houses won a lot of prizes in Japan and Game awards popular election. The only way I could think about changing figther pass order to be more hype, it would be: Hero, Terry, Banjo, Byleth and finally Joker.

A bit off topic. Each Smash game has something that makes them stand out from each other. Those being; 64's secret characters, Melee's competitiveness, Brawl's Subspace Emissary, Smash for 3DS' Smash Run, Smash for Wii U's uhh....., and Ultimate's massive roster.

My List 1 is the best, 11 is the worst. MY OPINION 11. Sora 10. Kazuya (I was so disappointed when seeing him, all the hype of a new character died and the only reason he's not on the bottom is because I hate Sora) 9. Banjo & Kazooie 8. Min Min 7. I like this ranking though I would change certain placements (Kazuya and Hero could be a bit higher imo), it's still a good list and I love your content. I prefer this list above so many.

i will admit sora is a very fitting end to smash bros ultimate but seeing how we have so many other sword characters i think we should at least trade out pyra and mythra, byleth, kazuya, min min, and piranna plant for geno, shadow, crash bandicoot, master chief, and waluigi

I made a list of the general best DLC overall so heres my list on who I like playing the most from worst to best. Min Min, Steve, Plant, Banjo, Kazuya, Joker, Hero, Sora, Sephy, Byleth,Terry, The Aiges.

Kazuya's way too low. Shame to see constantly underappreciated Tekken and Kazuya's inclusion as a whole. Also three other FG characters being added before Kazuya does not hurt his inclusion since he's the first and only one that's from a 3D fighting game while the rest are from 2D fighting games.

I agree on Byleth and MinMin as a Steve Main I can say STEVE moveset is HORRIBLE and the worst DLC design ever... Also agree that the best reveal trailer in Smash history is Sephiroth's trailer that trailer is GOD-TIER

Kazuya honestly should not be lower than Pyra and Mythra. Actually Kazuya is way too low overall. At least Sephiroth is not too low. Even though Sephiroth should have been number 1 instead of Joker.

At least we can all agree that Min Min was forgettable. Hell, up until yesterday, I honestly forgot she was even in the game. Her inclusion was clearly meant to shill ARMS like 'Hey do you remember ARMS?' but that fucking failed. It worked with Pyra and Mythra (in Japan) but with ARMS it just didnt do anything.

hot take: drangon king form dragon king would be a better ending than sora since the entire series gose full circle i stilll like sora hes one of my most wanted
