The way you ranked the partners was definitely interesting. I think this is the first video like this that I've seen where Goombella was #1. While she's not my top favorite (that honor goes to Vivian), Goombella is definitely in my top 5. Glad to see she has her fans.
Flurrie is a great defensive partner by putting her in front with Lip Lock and using Dodgy Fog on Mario. She was great for the boss battles against Hooktail's brothers. You missed out BIG TIME!
Sometimes I feel like I'm living in an alternate universe; I actually enjoy how Sonic appears in newer Smash games. However, that doesn't stop me from wishing that his universe got another fighter in Ultimate. With Street Fighter and Castlevania getting Echo Fighters in the base game and Final Fantasy getting a new DLC character, it makes Sonic being the sole rep of his universe harder to swallow. Shadow's late reveal as an Assist Trophy was _mean_ . If you ask me, Smash 4 is my favorite portrayal of Sonic in Smash. While he lost much of his personality since Brawl, he did gain a nice new model and enhanced attack strength. Moreover, this was at a time when every third-party series in Smash had just one fighter each. To be fair, Smash 4 itself is my favorite Smash game. Part of why I love it so much has to do with it releasing in my favorite era of Sonic, the Boost Era. I have an unwavering bias towards SSB4, although that in itself is a huge hot take. You being up good points. Let's hope the Blue Blur gets some more fighters in Smash 6.
12:57 so I don’t use goombella very often other than the first 4 chapters and tattles. The place that I keep her out for the most of is the pit of 100 trials because I can get a few tattles from palace of shadow and I can tattle all enemies that are exclusive to pit of 100 trials.
What I genuinely don't get is that Sonic is an extremely well-known franchise (for better or for worse), and was treated as a direct rival to Mario for a _long_ time... I really don't get why there's so little representation for the franchise. Maybe it has something to do with SEGA's weird insistence on not making side characters playable in more recent games, but I dunno how likely that is.
Flambe is literally burning the alcohol off of a dish. There isn't 75% of the alcohol left over cause you burn it all away. Cooking alcohol evaporates all the alcohol away and the only way it's gonna retain alcohol is if you just put it in at the end and stop cooking.
Sonic Lost World "Do you know anyone who likes that game in 2021?" *ClementJ64* That game and Forces were simply ok. Also if we're going by the definition of "Echo" then the more fitting Echo Fighter would be Blaze The Cat. You probably haven't noticed this but Sonic does his Sonic Flare from Sonic Battle in his breakdance victory pose and his Forward Throw originating from that too!
I'm unsure how Subspace was repetitive, cuz in my opinion, it was fun as hell. And although the platforming seems generic, i say it's pretty fitting for the theme Brawl was going for.
Subspace also encouraged the player to choose characters they wouldn't play as by restricting the choice in levels on the initial playthrough which did help in making the game feel much less repetitive at least for me. Lucas is my main and if you go the Marth route near the start you unlock him pretty soon and I'm fairly sure I just used him for the rest of the game on my first playthrough. It doesn't really encourage playing as anyone else.
The End not actually being this supreme deity is amazing because it doesnt do justice for Dark Gaia, DG and Light Gaia arent even dead, they're Primordial Beings that have existed since the beginning of time and both are just resting, they're going back to rest because they both were awakened when they weren't supposed to and then Solaris was blown out by Elise when Sonic had her understand she must smile and push through even if it meant sacrificing their friendship, Solaris was literally experiencing this and gave Elise a fragment of memories but not truly while Sonic remembers all in the second reality because Sonic and Elise were brought to the past, they were floating in the void until Solaris took them.
It may not be Sonic from Black Knight because I consider that him peak but this is acceptable, it's not only written by someone who knows the universe & characters but is just a really good writter. Will wait and see how he will answer the things he included in Fronteirs' script like Tangle because this is his first ever official game script.
Agreed that Black Knight is still peak Sonic game writing, but Flynn does a great job getting close to it in Frontiers. Excited to see where we go from here!
@@PowPowSmash I have faith he'll figure out how to replicate that especially topping the famous speech about mortality, it's all on him, SEGA and the next mainline game if he can.
You mentioned the music, and while I'm happy that there's a decent amount of Sonic music in Smash... all of it is ripped straight from the games they were in, with only one remix of Angel Island Zone that's been in since Brawl. No Spring Yard Zone, no Chemical Plant Zone, no Casino Night Zone, no Flying Battery Zone, no Hydrocity Zone, no Doomsday Zone, not even a Green Hill Zone remix. Yep, NO GREEN HILL ZONE REMIX... lol, how does that sentence exist? This is not taking into account Sonic CD, or his many other games after the originals. So yeah, I feel like he also deserves better in _that_ department- 😅
it was fun seeing the payoff for the dlc being everyone had a part to play rather than making them story content pieces to progress on, amy being a smoker is my ultimate head canon, great video as always!!! can't wait for the next one
Same here! At the very least it would be cool to have some of Sonic's Frontiers moveset in general be incorporated into his Smash moveset if he ever gets a moveset revamp
The conclusion to Rhea Island in the original game was my most disappointing moment in Frontiers, the buildup the cyber corruption brought filled me with curiosity only to be thrown away in a brief moment without meaningful sacrifice. So glad that the Final Horizon was able to correct this in a good way and make a complete ending with an unforgettable final fight to boot!
Same, the story was so good up until that point and it felt like Sonic Team had to rush out the rest of it. I'm so thankful that Frontiers sold well enough that Sonic Team was able to make the ending they envisioned!
I love how this man is absolutely right about Lakilester being a virgin for tryna be cool, and Koops is kind of a Chad for actually being corageous to try to beat the dragon who makes everyone in his village fear. Also Watt isn't actually a unique species in the mario universe, she's actually a lil' Sparky, which I understand if you don't remember that mario enemie, since they appear in the following games: Super Mario World, Paper Mario (since Watt is in the game) Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World, and Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 (But only in the E-Reader Card Levels).
Can you imagine how Shadow would be handled? He can finally reveal how insecure and vulnerable he actually is. Underneath that edgelord shell is rage, grief, fear, shame, and regret. With the correct writing, Kirk Thornton can make Shadow sound jaded and weary. Burdened by responsible, burdened by guilt of the past and fear of the future.
The difficulty is trying to get him back to 06 where he's been mature, over rivalries and other things which is him peaked, that new second reality Solaris made doesnt change his growth and who he is by the true end of his game which leads to start of 06.
I love World of Light. Sure, it may not be as good as Subspace Emissary, but that doesn't mean I hate it, far from it. I mean, the final battle is quite good, so there's that.
Goombella was always my favourite too, she had such awesome dialogue and made me want to tattle everything.. Plot-wise, she takes the logical aspects of Goombario and Kooper from PM64 (the archeology student should be the talkative smart one lol - Goombario was a kid who'd barely left his village). She's also the only partner who may have gone on the exact same journey by herself if Mario/Peach hadn't shown up, because she was the only one who thought the tale of the crystal stars had any merit, and that's pretty interesting. Most of the other partners join either because Mario is famous and they wanted to go on an adventure with him, or they intended to team up with him to help solve their chapter-specific problem and then decided to stick around a bit longer once it was complete. Goombella had an investment in the entire plot. She just lacked the map.
