"Elvira" was a hit for the Oak Ridge Boys back in *1981* (excuse me while I feel old -- I remember when this song was new). Here's a video of them singing it at the 1982 Grammy Awards: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--VHyRAows-A.html (and you get a look at what passed for formal dress attire back then, too). I don't think the man with the beard has seen a pair of scissors in over 40 years...

So, if you're a fan of the LOTR and the Hobbit, and you are a Home Fry (what Home Free fans are called) then you need to take the plunge down yet another rabbit hole and listen to Peter Hollens and Tim Faust (the Home Free bass) singing Misty Mountain. It'll blow your mind.

The beatboxer is Adam Rupp he has two world records for beatboxing... But the bassist is Tim Foust had her has a 5 octive range. Him and Avi are friends and Tim is helping Avi get lower while Avi is helping him try to teach Tim how to be an overtone singer. Which means that Avi can access both of his vocal cords and sing two notes at different octaves at the same time. Seeing your reaction to this and bright a smile to my face because I remember sitting with my grandpa listening to The oak ridge boys on a record player! These guys are so talented that I can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of their catalog 💚 ya

I’m afraid Adam does not have world records or championships, even tho in my mind he is the best beatboxer in the world. He has two local sweepstake wins from about 10 years ago and was considered the best beatboxer in Midwest. Also he has a champion belt, but that was a gift from a fan.

Home Free did a Christmas special last month that was streamed online. The Oak Ridge Boys were one of their guests. They released the part with the Oak Ridge Boys as a video. They sang "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem", one of my favorite Christmas songs. You have the 5 Home Free guys, the 4 Oak Ridge Boys, plus an excellent solo artist named Jeffrey East. So you have 11 guys singing some amazing harmonies. I know it's after Christmas but it's worth a listen. Some other favorites are "Man of Constant Sorrow", "My Church", "Can't Stop the Feeling", "In the Blood", and, of course, as several others have mentioned, "The Butts Remix". Love your reactions.

This song was a dream come true for Home Free! One of their inspirations as a band is the Oak Ridge Boys, so when they got to collaborate with them on their own classic country song, it was living a dream. I loved how they all signed Austin's shirt during the video. So cool! I've seen Home Free live, and they're absolutely incredible! When Tim hits those low growls, you literally can't even think. The whole theater thrums... your hair vibrates, your eyes go blurry as they distort from the sound, and your brain turns to goo. He's actually renowned for destroying subwoofers, though the sound system that night was up for it!

Oak Ridge Boys has a long history to the group. Started in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet. They had a changing lineup until 1973. They also changed the name to Oak Ridge Boys in the late 60s. With the exception where one singer did a solo thing for 10 years in the 90s, it has been the same Country & Gospel quartet singers.

As an American who lives in a southern state I can't help but know a certain amount of country music. The Oak Ridge Boys and Statler Brothers were the original country music groups who for me were an introduction to the genre. For Home Free to be allowed to sing with these titans of country music is a great honor. Check out their song with Kenny Rogers. Not sure of the title, but excellent.

Home Free are hilarious in a lot of videos (try the butts medley, champagne taste, or All about the bass). Even their concerts are hilarious. Elvira was a hit song by the OakRidge Boys from like 40 years ago. Tim (bass) has said he was so star struck to sing with them that he was flustered. ETA: if you think Adam is crazy beatboxing so far.... your head will explode in Man of Constant Sorrows. Dude is a didgeridoo or mouth harp or something crazy. (I’ve been corrected that Adam Chance did the didgeridoo type sound. Not to be confused with Adam Rupp who is the beat boxer).

When I first listened to Home Free (with both this and their current mix of group members), I remember thinking randomly, "Boy, it sure would be fun to hear them sing 'Elvira'," because their bass was the best I had heard in a while. I was thrilled when they actually did it, and Tim did not disappoint! Geoff Castalucci (the bass from VoicePlay) actually arranged this and he did an excellent job of showcasing each person with some real innovation in each segment to meld the two groups into one cohesive, awesome performance. I agree that, while I love Kevin (Pentatonix) and Layne (VoicePlay), Adam Rupp's beatboxing is some of the best. He has won several competitions. If you look around on RU-vid, there is more than one video of him doing beatbox solo work. He usually does about a 5-10 minute solo during their shows. I also am astounded that a person can make all of those sounds; if I'm not watching him. My ear is not good enough to tell which is beatboxing and which would be an actual drum kit. Adam is incredible and his percussion (along with Tim and Chance's bass) can shake every seat in the venue. Actually, if you look really hard, you can probably even find a clip of show where they all took turns beatboxing. If Adam sings, I think Rob usually covers the beatboxing but they can all hold their own. Loved your reaction. Keep that Home Free coming!

If you ever decide to do the Home Free Sing Off competition videos, you'll get a taste of what other professional singers thought of them. But if you do, make sure you keep the judges remarks in, they really loved these guys. ❤

The beat is so important to Home Free's arrangements. And this arrangement is so wonderful - better than the Oak Ridge Boy's own classic version.

THe song was referring to a fictional woman. It became such a hit that the joke became that Elvira had bought them all a house.

The guy with the really long beard is William Lee Golden, a name that, in my opinion, really suits him :)

Just for your own edification, I'd really recommend you have a listen to the original by the Oak Ridge Boys. It'll give you a bit of context for this one, which is amazing! Great reaction :)

There's a video shot at a Home Free lives show in which the beat boxer, Adam , does a solo drum routine. Sans drums of course. You're doing well, keep going!

A bit like the Oakridge Boys were passing the torch to the young bucks. What a thrill for Home Free. I agree, Adam Rupp is so good I forget he is not a machine.

Home Free at the Sing Off show. They got bored touring, they joined a singing contest. Can you do a reaction?

Try not to pause when the intensity is building, because it interrupts the flow into some big moments... Bayo has some innate talent for pausing it in the biggest moments! Love him though

That is easy to fix by going back 10 seconds before hitting play again.

Thats what i was going to say. Not knowing the video makes it hard to know when to pause, we get it, but yes go back 10 seconds or more to get full effect.
