I think it is worth mentioning that as much as Ray can be frustrating at times or lazy about household chores, he is no idiot. He know what is going on with the family situation and is kinda in a hard place. He knows that his parents are nuts and difficult people and he know that mom isn't doing much favors for his wife. That is the love of his life and the mother of their children. Yet at the same time he still cares for his parents deep down meaning banning them permanently is out of the question. The thing is Frank and Marie are going to do what they want to do and Ray can't do much about their behavior. He and Debra just have to deal with it for the better or the worse. What he does do is show Debra that he loves her in other ways that may be small but probably actually means lot to her. Debra do recognizes this which is why she never left. She knows she got a good if bit imperfect husband who she loves dearly. She is truly Ray's light in this crazy family because she stuck around.

You are very right despite everything they love each other and are there for each other and Debra in the episode of Break up I think it is called where an ex-girlfriend of Ray ends up with him, Debra records an audio where she tells him that Ray is perfect for her and that she loves him very much even with his flaws and that she would never leave him, which shows the love between them.

@@marycarmenorozcob9140 Also, interesting enough with rewatching the show, I realizes that Ray is nowhere as critical about Debra's role as housewife as Marie is. Sure he may makes few jabs about her cooking (due to being spoiled with perfection food while growing up) or disagree about few things that involves with the kids but overall he didn't even seem to think she even was doing a bad job. He actually overall seem confident that she was a good mother. Also, he mores or less admitted in one episode that he thought that Marie's level of cleanness was stupid since it was like she was preparing for some special event that haven't happened yet. He was perfectly fine with the house being bit messy instead of spotless and with three young kids running around (especially in the early seasons) that is to be expected. He knows that Debra got her hands full with the kids and his parents while he is at work. He doesn't really expects her to be exactly like Marie in the role. He even tried to tell Marie that the family was doing fine when she made it sounds like they were living in such a horrible way in "Win Lose or Draw" which she did not listen. He flat out said in "Wallpapers" that he doesn't feels that Marie will listen to him which is the actual main reason why he doesn't wastes his breath with her. Sure, he may enjoys the attention and coddling on some level but he does know how she is. Selective obliviousness. Marie sees what she want to see which what makes it so frustrating to the rest of the family. She is so wrapped up in the image of Ray always needing her and that she is the only one who capable of taking care of him that the very idea that Ray himself may not want her over all of the time is practically foreign to her. Meanwhile in return Debra herself have mentioned few times that Ray is an excellent provider for the family so he is carrying out his part of the deal. There is some respect for each other roles underneath everything. Could Ray be more considerate and pitches in the house chores more? Of course. Could Debra be more understanding that Ray is in a hard place about his parents? Of course. But clearly there is something that both of them are doing that is working that we're not fully seeing. Despite all odds, these two still manages to somehow have an ultimately stable relationship at the end of the day and raises three well-adjusted children in a stressful home situation. This is why I think that their actual everyday relationship probably is more tame than what we're seeing. We're mostly seeing their worst sides but we still get enough evidence to see that there is something more behind it. They're actually happily married to each other.

Because no parent or brother wants to hear about their child/brother's sex life. And because it's funnier.

That's a big reason why Debra scolded him, after the whole Stefania/Amy fiasco. People who hated on her and defended Robert seem to overlook how often Robert whined about Ray's marriage. Having said that though, I think Robert is pretty funny.

Ray ditched on spending a night with Marie, then Debra covered for him the next morning, by saying that Ray had a headache. After that, Ray and Debra tried keeping the main lie alive, by making up more lies.
