The arch we are going to see in season 2 is very long and I think is one best written up to that point in the story. Is very complex and, also you have to pay attention to every little detail. And lastly pay a lot of attention to the last few episodes of the 1rst anime because there a lot important details specially for what’s next for Rem, those who read the web and light novel will understand, but to those who have not, I recommend to brace your selves.

People who don't really understand what writing is most likely and just using writing as an excuse to bash on the series.Characters are a part of the writing and writing likeable characters is not easy and the rest of the aspects of show is finely written as well imo.Very excited for s2.

I do wish that Re:Zero’s anime explained the complexities of its world better and more intricately so that there weren’t as many gray areas as there were. There were points in the story where it felt like common logic just flew out the window or that certain things that were obvious were being avoided for the sake of tension.

@@blankexistence i've read it and it sucks, the first volume was amazing, the second was predictable and boring, the third was interesting, the fourth was waste of time, the fifth was disaster i hate that volume so much i stopped read the next volume for months cause of that shit, the sixth was okey, the seven was amazing cause at least the characters got what they deserved. Overall is not really good as people says, i've read it because MAL give it a high score and i dissapointed.

I wouldn't praise his writing that much. I don't enjoy Subuaru having the same arc every conflict, but I will say he is good with story telling of the world. A big issues books have is they build the world around the character, but Re Zero has a world separate from his characters. I know I contradicted myself, but my preference is watch a isekai like shield hero because it appealed to me more.

Uh, Rem is extremely important going forward. Some of the major plot points are intrinsically connected to her character. Subaru as a CHARACTER is intrinsically connected to her. Can't wait to see Emilia finally get her time though!

But Subaru besides his ups and downs he still managed to get out of it , and I believe some people wouldn't even try to do what he did, also even if he accepted Rem I'm sure she declined him to she said if the Subaru of now accepts me I will never see the real Subaru I Love plus him going with rem would put him like a freaking lier devoting his love to Emilia

I would go as far to say Subaru is the most relatable MC in light novel/anime history. You don't come by many characters like him, really.

Subaru not being likable is actually on purpose by the author. The author mentions this in his own Q&As about the characters of Re: Zero. You'll actually learn more about Subaru in the next season, and even Subaru himself knows he's the annoying kid no one wants to be around. Subaru is an amazingly well-written character for the sheer amount of realistic human-like flaws he has. So far, the complaints I've seen people make about the story, have actually been coming from die-hard Rem fans. They're complaining about Rem not having a more prominent role in the next season since if you've read any comment section regarding Re: Zero in the past few months... It's pretty well known at this point that Rem's not in season 2 much and that this is Emilia's time to shine. They mainly complain that the author is an idiot for not having their waifu be front and center or that the show can't hold up on its own without their best girl. That's where the complaints are coming from. Having read ahead though. I can confirm next season will be even better (if adapted correctly) than the first season... and the story doesn't need Rem to be good.

Yeah I kind of regret not starting it when it had less episodes. The director's cut is basically just an excuse to get caught up for S2 anyways and I think it would've been nice watching it weekly since I didn't get the chance on 2016.

I think mushoku tensei is also getting an anime adaptation this year, the mc is very relatable as well and comparably less eccentric than Subaru. I'd definitely recommend reading the novel if you haven't yet.

He needed to use killing the whale as a bargaining chip so that the others would help protect Emilia's realm from the Witch Cult C. It was a problem and they needed to get rid of it.

I've never related so much to a character than Subaru beating himself down for that entire episode. The voice acting was good, but more importantly, shot composition. One of the rules of good writing is subtlety. It doesn't preach or tell you to do something, that'll just be annoying. A good story will show you its message even without saying it, and my god, does re:zero deliver in that final scene where Subaru is laughing again. You have these mountains in the background that are so far, you can't see any details in them. They're almost empty of features, and then in the next scene you get a pan up of just the most big ass hill, ending up ending up in the royal capital castle. This is nonverbal communication at its finest, (something violet evergarden was balls garbage at). It doesn't tell you not to kill yourself, but lets you make that conclusion yourself. I've never cried so much in one episode. By the end of that, I honestly wanted to give it a round of applause. (But yeah, it got weird after that. I think it was mostly White Fox's idea to make it an anti-suicide, anti-depression psa, but as far as Tappei's literal writing is concerned, well... it's a lightnovel so it's probably shit.)

If you haven't read the Novels, let me tell you. You will love Season 2, it is agreed upon us Novel readers that the Arc season 2 will cover is way better than what Season 1 covered
