I think the size of the video made me completely forgot about grading the album so here you go! I really enjoyed this album, and I think it's getting up there in my favorite albums ever, I think its strong points are how diverse it is and how much it shows how talented Twice are as artists, it's full of new experimentation for them "Hello" or genres they're used to have "candy" or the fact it has their first English single "the feels". Here are my three categories for rating albums (I don't always think about these but they're always in the back of my head)(this is not the album rating): 'Good lyrics' with 4points because it's imo one of the most important thing in an album (good lyrics don't have to be poetic or deep, a light and sweet love song can be extremely well written and will have all the points for me), 'Diversity' with 3points imo a good album has different things to suggest, not always different genres but definitely a bit of diversity in lyrics and vibes. Then 'Coherence' with also 3points because if it's great to have a diverse album if no songs make sense together then it's a bit disappointing, it doesn't need to have a story or having all the songs follow each other (for the loooore) but i like a good coherence! FORMULA OF LOVE: Good lyrics: 3,5/4 -> not all points because some songs doesn't HIT as much as others but globally great songwriting! Diversity: 3/3 -> It would be CRAZY to not give this category all the points, I will fight anyone that says otherwise Coherence: 2,5/3 -> I think the fact that it's very diverse made the album a bit less coherent and knowing it's called "FORMULA OF LOVE" I haven't found the theme in songs like "Hello" or "Icon" FINAL RESULTS: 9/10 Amazing album globally, thank you so much for requesting it, I think I was very focus into understanding, analyzing and listening to the songs that sometimes my focus got the better of me and I forgot to share my precise opinion but I'm still new to this so I will definitely get better reactions out in the future! Thank you for all the support! At the end of the day, what matters is the friend we made along the way 😌
I have been following kpop since 2009. This is the best kpop album from start to finish. It’s probably the best album in the last 20 years that I’ve heard including US artists. So many other albums have tons of generic filler songs - This doesn’t. The last female pop album that I can remember being this good was Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette.
@@soliedaisy The funny part is that Nayeon cried when she heard it and sang it with her whole heart only to find out that it was about a cactus later 🤣🤣
The whole Album is a Banger❤️🔥Twice usually just doing Songs for their Fans, but with this Song for the first time adresses the haters so it hits even harder😅
Twice is the most flexible GG, and, Although FOL is the best criticized album, Personally, I feel that Eyes Wide Open is the most complete, exploiting a wide variety of genres, showing how flexible Twice is.
I did not expect to even be mentioned in this omg! I'm so glad you liked the album. I do agree, it may have some misses here and there but it kinda makes it better because it caters to a lot of audiences and makes sure you'll have at least a couple of tracks you'll absolutely love. It's one of the best kpop albums out there. With that being said, you now have to react to their 2nd Full Album "Eyes Wide Open" which was released in 2020 (with 13 tracks). Another diverse and full of bomb tracks. And as your now new resident loud viewer, I'm gonna break this album down for you as well. 1. I Can't Stop Me - Synthwave/Retro-pop 2. Hell In Heaven - Latin pop 3. Up No More - City Pop/R&B (Written by Jihyo) 4. Do What We Like - EDM (Written by Sana) 5. Bring It Back - Downtempo/R&B (is also a soft trap?) (Written by Dahyun) 6. Believer - House/EDM 7. Queen - (Honestly idk how to describe this, maybe Swing/Jazz?) (Written by Dahyun) 8. Go Hard - Dancehall/Reggae 9. Shot Clock - Big Band/Jazz Orchestra (Very sports anthem) 10. Handle It - R&B/Soul (Written by Chaeyoung) 11. Depend On You - Synthpop (soft) (Written by Nayeon) 12. Say Something - Japanese City Pop/ 13. Behind The Mask - Soultronic I really hope you react to this. Idc when, you can take your time! Btw, I have to apologize, Chaeyoung wrote the Korean version of The Feels, not the English one.
Oh my goshhhh this got me excited for the ewo reaction 😭😭 pls make it when you have time and preferably today but yes take your time just know that I as well as many other ppl are rlly excited for it 🥺
This is by far the best Twice album especially measured by number of bangers. My favorite song is Cruel but they're all good. Hello has a LOT of sass/attitude especially from Momo, and there is a live concert version on RU-vid that is worth watching. 1,3,2 has Mina doing this thing at 2m 20s where she sounds like shes rolling her R's - OMG so sexy.
This is a really catchy album. Twice has evolved, very appropriately, into a modernized blend of 70's funk/disco with their abundant usage of strings and slapping bass. It's a very comforting sound.
Icon is one of my fave songs that Twice didnt personally write because the lines was distributed sooo well and even to the point that I feel the lyrics address certain individual criticisms through out the years. Forgot who wrote it, but I applaud the person who distributed the lines.
Funny thing is, everyone on twitter was hating on Hello bcoz it was never been done by Twice but it became the most streamed sub unit song in the album and the crazy response it got during their tour. That song was made for concerts lol. The pink cowboy hat trend on concert started bcoz of the hot Hello sub unit stage too
25:40 I'm very happy that you like Last Waltz so much... since I'm sure Last Waltz is not a genre for general listeners. I see that not many people can enjoy this song
definitely one of the best Twice albums ever (next to Eyes Wide Open, which you should check out next). also the thing you're talking about in Espresso is called "call and response) where the singers would go back and forth on a quick pace between the notes of the song
fun fact: Jihyo wrote Cactus based on her actual cactus that died in real life because she never watered it, the members didn't know about this until she shared it in an interview, the song then became a funny little joke in the fandom because the backstory was hilarious compared to the intense emotion of the song 😂
Absolutely phenomenal album! Every song went hard at last year’s concert! If you ever have a chance to see TWICE live in concert…DO IT!! It’s not as theatrical and powerful as a BTS concert but these 9 angelic queens put on one hell of a show!! Plus, you’ll be in The House of ONCE and we’re a very loving, supportive and fun fandom and our girls truly spoil us 😊 As far as girl groups are concerned no other girl group comes close!! And YES they are all even more stunning in person. It’s mind blowing how 9 humans could all be that perfect.
For BETWEEN 1 and 2 Jihyo wrote and composed Trouble no Brave. But she indeed liked that genre, I would say that Nightmare from her solo album Zone also has that feeling, she also wrote and composed that song. You definitely have to listen to her album. For the bsides, Jihyo was involved in the composition of Talkin' About It, wrote the lyrics for Closer, wrote the lyrics for Wishing on You, composed and wrote the lyrics for Don't Wanna Go Back, the same for Room and Nighmare .
An underrated album from their discography is "Fancy You" and it has some of my favorite songs from them maybe someday you can react to it aswell :D have a good day!
36:33 According to Jihyo's official story, the song _Cactus_ is about and from the perspective of a cactus plant she forgot to water and that eventually died. 😂😂 Whether that's the whole truth, or if there are instead any hidden meaning or alternative theories about what the song is really about, I leave it to people to speculate. 😇
that's my second fave twice album cause it has my FAVORITE TWICE SONG 🔥CRUEL & F.I.L.A🔥 thx for the reaction💗 hope you react to eyes wide open album soon
Thanks for the reaction! “The music is too loud” said no Once ever ;) Eyes Wide Open is my fave, but this one is a close second and has some amazing tracks (and four in English!). If you get the chance, check out Jihyo talking about her inspiration for Cactus. She does big emotions very well.
The track sequence/placement in the album also has a very important reason eg. Rewind leading to Cactus, so sometimes listening to individual track by jumping around may not be the best for Twice's album (much less so for some other less well produced groups). Regardless, this album is a real gem, thank you for the reaction, always good to hear from someone with a musical background 👍👍 Candy is a fan song for English speaking fans hence the lyrics. Twice has one Korean and One Japanese Fan song
Nayeon actually wears glasses irl.. don't know why i came back to say this lmao. The line distribution on Icon is insane to me, like each part lyrically suits them perfectly. Espresso will always hit for me
it's perfect because you reacted to this album, it's one of my favorite albums..I'm looking forward to their next album reaction, I'll come when you do their next reaction.. thank you 🔥✨
I think what's amazing with this album is that whatever type of music you like, you can find a song for you, that's the strongest point of this album fr ❤
There is a very strong prejudice against Twice, and those who have this prejudice are right to think this way. But when you start listening to Twice albums (B-Side), this prejudice begins to break. Especially "Eyes Wide Open" and "Formula of Love" Their albums are 2 perfect albums to break this prejudice.. Of course, people may still not like Twice songs, this is normal, I cannot say that I love every Twice song. However, one should not make a decision about Twice only based on the Title tracks, especially based on the songs of their early years. Twice has a very colorful and extensive discography as a whole, with songs from their early years and their last years. I think there is something for everyone in that discography.. I hope I explained it correctly, I used translate :))
Hi,fall in love again lyrics by nayeon Real you lyrics by jihyo Cactus lyrics and composed by jihyo Cruel lyrics by dahyun The feels KR ver lyrics by chaeyoung
LOL "progressive house" - you youngsters need to look up disco, because that's what much of this album is. It's got modern production and a few extra beats, and of course rap, but this album could have been a hit in the 1970's.
Love how your views have blown up on these Twice album reviews. Onces will flock to any Twice content available lol. 😂🍭 Great review and analysis of the album! Look forward to more Twice reviews. 💕
25:37 Anyone else gonna bring up how (aside from its pre-chorus) _Last Waltz_ is in *_FOUR-FOUR_* time, making it impossible to waltz to (as it requires three-four time)? 😁😁
stumbled upon your channel yesterday! really happy i did! i love watching people react to twice's music for the first time and see them fall in love 😆🥰 it would be interesting to see you react to their old stuff to see how much they've grown! personally really loved Signal EP back in the days. it might not be for everyone but back then, it was so fitting for twice (and me!) lol i bet you would love Eyes Wide Open and Perfect World as well!
Thank you! Both albums will be next, also want to listen to their older stuff to see the origins and I think I will watch Sixteen on my own at some point so I can really "get it"!
Twicetagram album is more on their bubblegum pop style but still in the essense of KPOP. Formula of love album is more on their exploration for their sound and lyricism. while Eyes wide open is more on their Versitility. their Japanese full albums BDZ, &TWICE, Perfect world, and Celebrate is more on JPOP genre. BDZ more on Original JPOP, Jballad and R&B songs. &TWICE more on EDM JPOP. Perfect world more on JPOP with different Euro and Latin pop (ex. Tango Rock for Perfect world) Celebrate is more on J Rock pop sound.
Just for a point of clarification.... broadly speaking, for the most part, Twice members typically contribute towards writing song lyrics, rather than composition or production. Not a knock against Twice. Each requires its own set of skills and talent, and not everyone can be able to do everything, or even necessarily be interested at pursuing those things.
So happy that you're finnaly reacting to this album, love your reaction and the fact that you always honest with your opinion about them! anyway on 6:49 It was Dahyun singing not chaeyoung 28:40 and 28:46 is Chaeyoung not Jeongyeon 41:02 Chaeyoung not Nayeon
aaah thank you very much for the correction! If I was doing a reaction and wasn't honest it wouldn't make sense, but a lot of people do that unfortunately :( truth is you can't love everything and people should remember this ψ(._. )>
The lyric video for icon and hello did Bayern wrong they made mistakes they mistook most of nayeons rap in hello for chaeyoungs and in icon natron singed the chorus and mono only had the “damn I got it I’m iconic “ part so yeah I’m they were wrong anyways some misinformation chaeyoung didn’t right the feels .
Thank you for this, we appreciate you SolieDaisy 🧡🧡 I hope you react to another album next week, it can be anything but their album Eyes Wide Open has many interesting bsides as well so I suggest it ^^ Have a good day haha and btw you have a really nice voice too *^*
Yes! I know people like hearing the full songs and I get why so I didn't cut anything so we can all listen to it together! Thank you for watching, I will put Shot Clock on my list! ❤
Love your reaction! I really like hearing your opinions on each of the songs, this albums is one of my favourites! One note for HELLO, the whole second verse is back and forth between Momo and Nayeon not Chaeyoung, the Chae parts at 47:48 and 48:05 as well as the ending at 49:42 are all Nayeon. I just wanted to point it out since she rarely raps but did SUCH a good job in this song and deserves the credit haha! I can't wait to watch your reactions to more of their albums
