If the defense didn't object at the time and they're just now realizing it, then that's something the defense should live with. She knows how to manipulate people so at least half that hooey she spouted at the end was game play. She's right where she needs to be never to see the light of day again. AZ can't come soon enough.

She’s guilty. These legal gymnastics are wasteful of the court’s time and the people’s money - and such an insult to all the victims and their families. Everyone has a right to a defense, even if they can’t afford an attorney, but they don’t have a right to spend money endlessly.

I hear what you’re saying but everyone’s entitled to appeals. The cost of said appeals are already baked into the whole process. I’m fine with Lori getting an appeal because any of us would be any the same.

@@pollsfriend Agreed Scott Peterson & Darlie Routier are the first cases that come to mind. Those cases are still filing appeals, 20+yrs later. Every defendant has the right to do so; Constitutional Rights trump “feelings”. While I’m on the “opposite side” of a courtroom, I stand by every Citizen’s right to fight for themselves, regardless of my personal feelings.

Ty, Peter! I have been screaming 6th Ammendment Right to a speedy trial violation since February! I have been called ignorant, a fool, an idiot and much worse! I've even been called a Lori lover!!! Some people need to learn the Constitution and the Ammendments!

I understand people deserve a fair trial, but after they've been found obviously guilty, it's annoying for them to continue draining the system financially with their attempt at a save. When it comes to multiple murders, it costs more than they are worth to feed & house them for the remainder of their years.

They do this bc many people are wrongfully convicted. So even the ones that aren’t wrongly convicted get to try it. None of these are going to get her to freedom. It will all still keep her away from the public

Her appealing just shows how narcissistic she truly is. Millions of dollars have been spent on her already. Her family and husband are both gone, her looks are gone (how she manipulated) and her reputation is gone. If I were her, I would just accept prison and go away. Another video showed how great her prison is (calling them residents instead of inmates, providing education, health care, fun activities etc). Considering how lazy and selfish she is, you would think she would be glad to be in prison. She can just sit there and think about the 6+ murders she commited while getting everything handed to her by tax payers...

@@pam751 that’s a good point and maybe she did! I would believe that too. Also I wonder if delusion (especially religious delusion) is enough to be truly incompetent. She understood she was on trial, as also evidenced by her own statement. So it’s a mixed bag for her.

Did her mental health checkups/checkins leading to clearance in standing trial interfere with her speedy trial time…did this *create an undue timing issue on the defenses behalf?* I ask because if (no I have no legal background besides what Peter teaches us, nor do I know any amount of the start to finish timing of what happened *in regards to* possible violations of speedy trial issues) but…if her and her team somehow, purposely *created* a timing delay…that kinda defeats the purpose of placing blame elsewhere, if they should also be included in that blame? (I understand minimal of this problem…I tried 😂really, I did…someone help me out here-please be kind ☺️)

Honestly it seems that the defense went through and read comments posted after her "speech" at the end which was majority ruled "crazy" in itself, however it was her own words fully competent at that time.

I came for Depp, stayed (subscribed) for Vallow/Daybell, and got interested in Brooks and Kohburger. I'm still super interested in all Vallow/Daybell and also Ruby Franke/Jodi Hildebrandt and hope you keep doing all of the updates for both of these cases.

There was a motion hearing early on in regards to a motion filed by a different attorney representing vallow. It had to do with the lady that worked for the mental facility giving Lori a phone number to call. Ended up being lds church attorney. Long story short the attorney that filed the motion was let go by judge cuz he wasn't "death penalty qualified" just a day before the motion hearing. The lawyers for church were present at the hearing. judge, Archibald but he wasn't one that filed the motion. Lori was not present at the hearing she was still in mental facility. Is that normal for her not to be present? That motion hearing never sat right with me. Seemed very protective of the church. Which the previous attorney was suggesting there was meddling involved. Not defending Lori at all just wondering if that is common to have a motion hearing without the defendant present. Also i don't think she was cleared yet

Lori's representatives did not put on a defense, nor present any witnesses. As well, if competence was an issue, was it not her attorney's job to bring it up? At most, I would expect ineffectiveness of counsel.

Re: speedy trial...was the "time out" taken to establish her competency and time in mental hospital a "stay" or did those actions stretch proceedings beyond the speedy trial date? I can already hear echoes of what BK's attys are going to use in the inevitable appeal.

I feel like so many people have forgotten about this case and the victims of these two monsters - two beautiful, completely innocent children - but, I never will, as it is easily one of the worst crimes I've ever come across. I pray there are no issues in Chad's trial and he is also given LWOP. Not only am I morally against the death penalty, but, I also thinks its an easy escape compared to LWOP. Sure, I've only ever been to jail, never prison, but, incarceration is AWFUL and I want both these monsters to live the longest, most awful lives possible. Thanks again for all you do. Lots of obviously guilty people appeal…there is not really any reason for them not to. But very rare that the appeal is agreed with, and doubt it for Vallow.

Dumb question from a non-US resident: I always thought that you can only appeal issues you have brought up in the original trial, but where overruled on. So why are they arguing a reversible error in the state's opening if they never objected to anything when it was given? (Or am I misremembering this and there were objections?)

There's no doubt about her guilt. I'm not arguing over that. However, after listening to her talk before her sentencing, I truly believe she should have been placed in a psychiatric institution. She clearly believes that she had done nothing wrong and was clearly unaware of the consequences her actions had caused.
