The SWAT team of 20+ officiers that stood in the Uvalde hallway for 75 mins is neglect and cowardice. Scott Peterson, barely armed, trying to piece together things on his own as chaos is unfolding in real time, does not seem at all like neglect. I feel so bad for him that he is being put through all of this.

One thing I will say is that this case and the Travis Rudolph case being brought back to back don’t paint a good picture of the quality of prosecution and criminal Justice system in Florida. Two high profile, potentially unjust prosecution? We KNOW there is enough crazy crime in Florida that they don’t have to be trawling for cases.

As a teacher in a public high school, I know that we, as teachers, are trained to run and hide. I don't know what the officers on campus are trained to do, but if there is only 1 ...what can you really expect from the guy? I have to agree with his defense attorney; they needed a sacrifical lamb. I was in high school when Columbine happened. I remember the tragedy all too well and the chaos that followed in the couple of years following. My heart still skips a beat every time we have to do active shooter drills now. My heart breaks for every student, faculty member, administrator and other staff that were on that campus that day, but THIS type of legal action is not going to make anything different for the families or our future!! I pray for all those involved.

Because of the echo of the gun fire from the shooter, it made it difficult to differentiate where the gun fire was exactly c9ming from. Also he did not have the information that Coral Springs police had. He thought it was Sniper fire because of the Las Vegas shooting from the hotel happened around that time frame. Today I feel that this is a emotionally and politically charged case. The families that lost loved ones has a life sentence so, they want everyone they can to do a life sentence too.

This case is so silly. How can they put all the blame on that officer? The shooter was to blame. Should the people that drove the shooter get charged as well? There were heaps of well trainned, experienced cops who arrived to control the situation. Police do so much sus, cruel shit. Sometimes they straight up murder innocent people, or let people die in custody, ignoring their need for medical attention. *Never* are they held accountable. But people want to lay all the responsibility of the Parkland shooter on this school officer? Disgusting. There's no guarentee that if he entered toward the shooter that he would have been able to take him down or that the outcome would have been any different. The shooter had this shit planned for ages. This officer had zero warning, no immediate back up, and a normal fight/flight response. I hope the jury has common sense and does not find this man guilty or liable.

My personal opinion, as a lay person, is that when the argument that is being cut off is that high level political and LE figures are scapegoating you and there is any evidence to support that…the judge seeming to back up effort to not let you mention those powerful people might give the impression that he is protecting those people. And when your defence is that this is a political prosecution…not being able to mention the politics hamstrings you. He had to say it IMO because I think the politics around this case are absolutely a core part of this case This case seems like a loser. I feel made for all the Cruz victims that they are going to drag in AGAIN to relive the worst day of their life…and if they don’t get a conviction it is going to feel AGAIN like no one listen to them…just like they felt unheard at the sentencing when they didn’t get the sentence they wanted.

Expecting ONE PERSON to do all that was outlined by the State is par for the course and impossible. These jurors need a field trip to the school like in Murdaugh case. It would be better if school was in session so they could really get a feel for the school. Majority of adults haven’t been in a high school since they graduated.

Nowadays; schools in Florida, New Jersey and New York state require all public schools to have remote panic buttons and silent alarms as a result of passing what is called Alyssa's Law. It's a piece of legislation that is named after Parkland victim Alyssa Alhadeff. Her mother Lori Alhadeff turned her pain into purpose by campaigning to get Alyssa's Law passed in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and US territories to spare other families the same pain of losing a child. Manuel and Patricia Oliver lost their son Joaquin; they have turned the pain of losing their son into advocacy through their organization Change the Ref. The mission of Change the Ref and Make Our Schools Safe are as follows: 1.) Change the Ref aims to empower the youth of the nation as they are the ones who are have the power to change minds. 2.) Make Our Schools Safe campaigns to have better security protocols to keep schoolchildren safe in the event of not just an active shooter situation; but also in the event of a fire emergency, a medical emergency involving students or faculty members, or a severe weather situation.

I don't think Scot would have had a chance. He had a pistol...and that demon had an AR. Lets say he did confront the shooter, again he would have been shot right then and there and he would have continued on his rampage. Also you don't really know how anyone would react in a situation like that. Yes he was trained etc...but it's not the real thing. Also why not have more oficers on campus instead of only one...especially in such a big campus.

I admire the defense’s passion going to bat for his client, but I’m not a fan of his terse “Got it” to the judge sustaining the argumentative objection. That being said, I think he managed to pull it off in a way that felt more like getting caught up in his duty to defend rather than having an outright disrespectful connotation toward the court

This is so so very sad. I’m waiting to see what the facts say. If he didn’t follow procedure and sat and did nothing, he should be found guilty…but it is so so hard to say. Hindsight is 20/20. And nothing nothing done now will bring those beautiful souls back. It is just so sad

How was the state allowed to bring perjury charge w such weak evidence?

Prosecuting the school officers instead of any real gun reform is just tragic and insulting. Whether you agree on gun reform or not, prosecutions against these school officers isn’t the way to handle any of this. In my opinion.

IMO, this is going to have a very bad effect on gaining good people to do these jobs. I get that serious negligence and incompetence needs to be dealt with BUT when you create fear of Prosecution the number of good people signing up to put their lives on the line to serve in dangerous positions will greatly diminish.

I’m guessing he had to speak at the conference &/or pass the gavel to the next person to take the lead of the association.

Again, did the officer have the means to take on a shooter armed with a high power long gun with body armor, specifically what type of firearm did he have, and was the ammo capable of penetrating his armor. He may have been trained to engage a shooter, but if he didn't have the proper tools then the result would have been one more body to bury.

The defense attorney is great I would hope that if I’m ever in trouble God forbid I’d have somebody like him on my side. I think the charges are total trash and should’ve never been brought forward this is ridiculous to ruin innocent families lives when they were not involved and he could not have prevented those nor could he have stopped Cruz since the shooting already started prior to his arrival.
