FYI: for anybody who doesn't already know, ALL carbon fiber helmets are loud compared to composite or poly-carbonate shells. If you want a Simpson Bandit and value a quieter helmet over absolute light weight in a high-end helmet, then get the Tri-Composite Bandit (black, flat black, white, navy) that is not a pure carbon fiber shell. I ride with a AGV Sportmodular Carbon so I know of what I speak.
I have a Simpson mod bandit but didn't pay near $500. I wear earplugs when I ride any of my motorcycles because I like my hearing. With the earplugs I can listen to the music much easier. Get some quality earplugs. Loud comes with good ventilation because wind is coming in. A quiet helmet sucks in the heat and you end up breathing more carbon dioxide instead of just fresh air.
ALWAYS wear earplugs on long rides. I currently have a Biltwell lane splitter with a cardo freecom 4+ bluetooth system. with the jbl speakers earplugs are no issue for music. I am likely to get a Mod Bandit as an upgrade soon and i doubt its louder than a lane splitter. FWIW i usually don't wear a helmet local (New Hampshire) and that is louder than my lanesplitter.
@@elijahwalling4894I heard it’s pointless to get audio on the lanesplitter. I have one and you are right it’s damn loud. My new bike came with a Shoei GT-Air II with sena it’s amazing and quiet I actually have to turn down the audio. Unfortunately the helmet doesn’t look nearly as cool as a lanesplitter or Simpson
@RadDadLife the jbl speakers are loud. I can enjoy music, phone calls and turn by turn navigation all while wearing earplugs in a lane splitter. Phone calls need to be below 70mph but everything else works 80+. YMMV
The thing about that particular helmet, it's a race helmet. Down to the SNELL rating. It meant for high protection and high awareness. Which means you will hear *Everything*
I hear you on the wind noise,,, I liked to ride without a helmet, in fact, I didn't even own any helmets for my last 2 bikes. But I put in ear plugs when I rode for any significant distance.
Ok so coming from someone that has not worn a helmet in 25yrs of riding this helmet is louder than no helmet ? I’ve been eye balling this helmet. Thanks for the review. Also how is hearing music from the bike ?
We’ll see that’s the weird part….the helmet is quiet as long as your not moving but as soon as the wind starts to hit the top vents it gets loud …you’ll hear your music just fine.
One plus side to the helmet is that you are not breathing as much carbon monoxide from your breathing is a well ventilated helmet ….unlike other helmets were you feel that your suffocating yourself.
