Thanks for sharing. JJ, you have a lot of Godly wisdom and I agree with your theory. I think that as broken human beings who are created for love, it's a natural inclination for us to imagine a romantic connection with the opposite sex who is a friend . I think it's unwise in, any situation, if there's no intention to date the person, to have a friend of the opposite sex. It's unfair for the other person, even if we have no feelings for them, because it's putting that person in the situation to develop feelings for us. So, all in all, yes there are few exceptions, let's get what we need from God, our significant other, and family and same sex friends.

I am a 52 yr old man, have 3 opposite sex friends. The rest are aquintances. My 3 opposite sex friends are age 51/72/42. If I have a GF. I don’t think I would be trying to make a new Female friends. Its hard. 51 is recently Divorced. 72 has a male partner that she lives with. 42 is single. For me out of the three. I am basically best friends with 51/72. 51 is the one I would be romantic with if she was into me. We have a lot of deep connections with each other.

Thanks for your opinions. You both did a great job explaining things here. I have one question. My girlfriend has a best friend and he’s gay. They both tell each other how good looking they are and they love each other very much with emojis included. I spoke with her about the situation and she said I have absolutely nothing to worry about because he’s gay. I still feel very uncomfortable with it and don’t think it’s right. How would you deal with this?

You need to understand that this is a boundary of yours and it’s valid (every boundary is valid). You need to express her that boundary using « I », something : hi I’ve noticed this, it doesn’t make me comfortable, I feel like it crosses the line of what is acceptable for me, where can we go from there ». If you’re with the right person she should be understanding and respect that boundary without you having to ask twice, aka stop complimenting her best friend all the time.

My timeline for Romantic relationships are this. 3 months of dating. 4 month Status marker or go separate way. 3 yrs of no cohabiting. 3 yrs together. Cohabit for yr 4 and possible Marry yr 5. No Marriage then there is no continuing Cohab.

17:50 - It doesn't matter if you "clarify". Men are mission oriented. They just see your clarification as what you think "now",...their mission is to change that to what they want you to think later.
