I like how John does the quick look at Anthony for his reaction after he (John) says the bit about being together and friends again after a time apart. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What John says in the end truly shows in their Cali tour. I particularly love how they performed BSSM songs during Cali era, such as If You Have To Ask, My Lovely Man, BSSM...
@@Fonkemman Of course! Woodstock in 1999 is my fav( be careful from the very beginning for Flea though😂), Bizarre Festival in Germany 1999, Shoreline 1999, Sweden 1999, Sashimi ( in Italy)1999, Red Square Russian 1999, Brazil 1999 and Argentina 1999, and Budokan in Japan 2000, these are all my favs and available on RU-vid! I’m sure you type those keywords and they’re easy to find! BTW Off The Map 2000 is awesome too ( a little later than these ones, yet still on Cali tour ). Hope you enjoy their pure energy and passion!! 🙌🏼
@@PANDA-JFpainter thanks! I am a big rhcp fan but for the concerts I am most familiar from the btw era onwards. Haha I know the 99 Woodstock. And the off the map as well.
@@Fonkemman Yes man! Then I guess Bizarre Festival 1999 & Shoreline 1999 are my first recommendations for you! Awesome from the beginning to the end! Budokan in 2000 is a less visited concert online I think...yet it has one of the best I Could Have Lied and My Lovely Man. Sweden 1999 also has lots of highlights and one of the best BSSM...oh BTW it’s the concert they had later on the day of this interview( John’s wearing the same shirt )
Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! I never knew RHCP were Ren & Stimpy fans until now. I was a R & S fan when BSSM came out and my RHCP rip off band that later fired me for arguing for my bass to be mixed audibly all hated R & S. I feel so validated that RHCP were still talking about R & S in 1999! Joy! 😄
I think they are all actually happy at that moment. John and Flea are high as kites but I feel harmony, no sadness. It is my favorite group of musicians.
John doesn't seem high at all, he seems to be his usual self. Flea seems dog tired and was probably suffering from exhaustion at this point. Doubt he was high.
@@Sprtschk nooo John was stoned. It’s pretty obvious. hiding his laughter in the beginning and then that stare at the reporter when he said he heard the album already lol. Also the way he talks is different, his eyes look glassy af, and the constant fidgeting.
@@FunkyMonk_96 I don't think John did drugs after 1997. I think he started to live "cleanly" at this point in his life. He stopped smoking pot, drinking, and doing coke around 1997 or 1998 as far as I know.
John could be stoned and flea literally mentions smoking hash but also he’s just got out of six years of heroin solitude so he’s awkward and he’s also giddy because it’s probably the first time he’s been genuinely happy and around friends in a long time.
He’s a real Chad, I’ve always wondered what he’d look like among a less eclectic group of rockstars. It’s honestly amazing how varied the Chili Peppers are as individuals
@@threeholePUNCHify I think her just lets them get on with it and is happy to play the drums and rock out... If he had an autobiography I'd love to read it as I bet he has some great stories.
I heard this interview over twenty years ago, it featured at the end of a bootleg CD of their live Stockholm Sweden 1999 concert, but had never seen the vide footage until now. As soon as I heard the audio I recognised it. I wondered what was going on here, Flea doing a headstand on a table, suppose i should have guessed. 😂
@Emile was thinking the same. I'm guessing they would look at this today and say the same about themselves. They've matured, as have we all I'd like to think.
La mirada de John al reportero cuando dijo que había tenido acceso al disco me hizo voltear la cara. Me dio vergüenza ajena. Con esa mirada cargaría el celular.
Considering Will Farrell's first movie was in 1995 you should reverse that and call will Farrell, Chad Smith 😂😂😂 I hate it for Smith bc they look so similar but he prob gets called Will Farrell and who knows when he'll snap and beat the ever loving shit out of someone for saying that. People gotta snap at some point
When they refer to “spiritual, vibe energy blah blah etc” they should just say “drugs” That hippie crap is old news and these guys are nothing spiritual
They just woken up from a show, and I believe it was pretty early in the morning. Imagine being on tour for days on end then finally getting good nights sleep, just to get woken back up again for a 10 minute interview.
@@amadc675 oh poor souls. they have to work on a schedule for a few months every 3-4 years... imagine real people doing that every day. it's not like the interviewer is not generating publicity for them. I am a big fan of the band but I can't dismiss that they are just plain rude here.
@@emile5921 hey relax man~you’re watching an interview from a funk rock band who prefers to be as natural as they can be...that’s all. I mean...how serious and boring do you want them to be?
@@emile5921 I can see rigid people would feel the way you feel. In my eyes they don’t look bad at all. Instead, I like how true they are as real people. They totally act as what I know about them, not trying to fake another image. And it’s not like they’re not answering any questions...they just reacted so casually that it felt like playing around...which actually entertains me more. Anyway, to each their own.
