I love how you said "eating to thrive, not to survive" Emily! Once I started eating more than what the ed told me was "acceptable" and really answered the mental hunger, I finally found real recovery. I never had a lot of physical hunger but the mental hunger was out of control and I was scared to listen to it at first, but it was the number one thing that helped me recover and rewire my brain. Now I don't think of food until it's time to eat, and I eat! 😋👍 and congrats on the wedding again!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 I loved seeing all of the picutres and your dresses and all of the flowers were beautiful. I always love your messages Emily! Sending lots of love and support from LA!!! xoxo 🤗❤💕💕💕💕

Yeah that happens to me i eat and i feel full but not satisfied i still want to eat something else and specially not the same thing I was eating before, and also my ed brain tell me that no you are not really hungry it’s just you are thinking about it you eat because you just want to eat this is not hunger , also i saw a video of lisa talked about reprogramming your brain from the habit of overeating after recovery and that frightened me I think she shouldn’t post that video specially for people in recovery , i hope u can give us some reassurance about this topic, i believe all what u said u and tabitha and also becky you are the best you helped me alot

@@gabrielaleszynska895 lisa from followTHEintuition , she is doing great videos but that video I think she shouldn’t post it specially for people in recovery she said that she doesn’t want that video to make us restrict but anyway anyone with eating disorder gonna use it as a way to restrict

I'm still learning my more subtle hunger cues. If I unintentionally wait too long, I get whiny😂,or even teary like a tired, hungry baby. Other times I think I'm doing well, but then realize I need food NOW! Trying to keep a sense of humor/positive mindset helps me tremendously. I'm also working on including more snacks, but just as you said, many times I'm eating to sustain energy throughout the day but don't actually *feel* hungry and that is challenging. Thank you for sharing your insights on this.

Ahah same here, I'm adding in more snacks just because I know I need to eat more but I rarely feel very hungry for them, which is frustrating! Really hoping my body catches up soon and starts giving me more hunger cues. I should also try using more humour and positivity like you do because I take myself way too seriously sometimes lol

Congrats again, Emily!! I'm excited for the Q&A video, because I'm not on Instagram (which is where I'm assuming everyone saw pictures? 😊). My question for that wedding Q&A video is: What were the top three memories you have from the entire day? (I say three because choosing one would be so difficult!) And if I'm allowed a second one, I'd love to know what you did/are doing for a honeymoon?! My husband and I rented a cozy AirBNB on a river in a very quiet small town. We did some exploring, but overall, it was so peaceful and relaxing - we loved it. ❤

But what if I am so full that I feel like I can’t fit anything more and if I do, I can only lay down? Does it mean that I have to eat and eat and eat and the only thing I do is lay on the sofa from fullness?? Please, if you answer, I’ll really appreciate it! ❤

I love this tip! Thank you Emily! Your firm words always help me push a little extra during my EH episodes ❤ my question for your wedding video: What is a good way to not freak out during those all you can eat buffets? Im always worried that I will eat untill Im sick like I used to do before my ED. But as a response I restrict and end up leaving the restaurant hungry… Also, Ive stopped drinking alcohol for a long time eventhough I used to enjoy it. Im afraid my body cant handle it anymore. I would love to be able to drink an entire glass of wine again someday. Any tips?

Han and Emily did a whole podcast about buffets - it was so good! You should check it out! It's the July 4th episode. 💙

I will certainly answer this in the Q&A but as @AC_2.4-10 says below Han and I did a podcast episode on exactly this topic a few weeks ago that might be worth checking out :) xx

I just find it so hard that everyone is like 'YOU MUST LISTEN TO ALL OF YOUR HUNGER IN ORDER TO RECOVER', but then we have to ignore our 'not-hunger', aka fullness! Why should we listen to one but not the other? And I struggle because I know that hunger and fullness can be 'over-ridden'. For example, if I am stressed, my hunger cues vanish. In addition, there are certain foods or situations that make meals more or less filling - so how can we trust hunger?

I totally can relate to this. There seems to be such an emphasis on hunger and honoring hunger, but not on honoring fullness. In the beginning of my all in journey I found myself doubting my hunger and not respecting my body’s fullness cues cuz that’s what I thought I “had to do” to recover. But as I’ve gone through my own journey and started trusting my own intuition more I’ve been allowing myself to go out both my hunger and my fullness. Sometimes you just gotta stop thinking about it and your natural cues will emerge more smoothly. That’s what I’ve found has worked best for me but of course everyone is different and everyone’s recovery will look different. ❤❤

Hi. I'm actually trying to listen to my mental hunger, but if I do listen to all of it I would probably feel so sick, because it usually comes after I eat lunch or dinner and I'm already physically full. Also eating all the time because of mental hunger would make me throw up litterally. Idk if it is really mental hunger or I just want to eat to numb out the stress this situation in recovery gives me, so I'm now dealing with emotional eating. Is it possible?
