Thanks so much for sharing this method. In addition to making waste yarn easier to remove from the cast on end of the tube, it makes it so much easier to see and pick up the correct loops/threads when closing the ends no matter which sewing, crochet or weaving stitches you prefer. I’m picking up knitting again after a long hiatus. I want to add a decorative crochet to a scarf and was looking at how best to do that with a waste yarn to cast on. Holy cow, this is a game changer.

I stopped doing a project because it meant losing a lot of waste yarn on that one side that I always found difficult to remove so I just cut it and tossed it in the trash. I can now go back to my project and not have to worry about wasting scrap yarn and time. This is a serious game changer. Thanks so much!
