Would probably be better to pull the whole motor and bin it, those zds are hand grenades. Swept the bits of block, Rod and piston off the road for the ol mate not soo long ago, td42 for the win chuur
Nice video, something different. my head gasket let go at the back on piston 4 after cooking it on the beach from having a muddy radiator. The head was cracked between all glow plugs and all pistons had cracks in the top. A new head gasket and a hand sanded head and it going strong. No need for a new head ahaha
Yeah, we have lots of workshops here in US, but they cost so much to operate and they usually have tons of restrictions just like you have there, no one wants anyone to have any fun anymore.
Be careful and tension that 3 piece scissor gear at injector pump. If not you will have a lot of problems later with gear clash. Take care also with gasket size as they come in two different sizes. Piston protrusion must be measured at TDC to learn which gasket is needed.A super vehicle, I have a 2007 model and have been driving Patrols now over 15 years. I have had a few and still own 3 now. I know definitely in the vans the downpipes/exhausts are pretty undersized. The boost they run often pops exhaust manifold/turbo gasket making leak. Brother's one blew turbo cause he did nothing about it quickly. They often run away when the turbo goes too. Luckily his blew an intercooler coupling before things got serious. Issue becomes pretty apparent when you've got no power and oil spewing out of intercooler 😂

you guys should make full tutorials on something. you guys have audience for that. Id be keen to watch just like Mightycarmods back in the day. Im a car enthusiast but not a mechanic. Id like to know how to replace a headgasket and all the other shiz you guys have done. I rekon make 2 tutorial vids and see how the views do, if it goes well then keep making them.
Fellas to get the heat out the shed. Get two or three whirlybird vents for the roof. Problem solved. Heats trapped in the roof cavity, it will release it 😎
I thought I’d ask (long shot given 2 years later) how much silicone you applied as they have a gasket for the timing case to cylinder head + O ring and I noticed the face of your head was clean when lifting it over the timing case to install Did you have the gasket already on and did you silicone both sides of the gasket? I just assumed the gasket would be fine by design IF the correct tightening sequence is followed etc
Should of taken the hood off so Josh doesn't have to bend over like that. I had to sit on our engine bay to change the plugs in our Tahoe and I'm 5'7 not tall and short for a Asian fella.
