Hi, I purchased an Omen Ryzen 880-030 system which currently has 16GB of DDR4@2400. Reading about Ryzen it seems that they truly benefit from higher clocked RAM of 3000 or 3200 so am I correct though that HP limits the RAM in this 'Gaming' system to 2400? And installing anything of a higher hz will downgrade to 2400 automatically? Thanks for the video and any response.

Seems that memory error code is pretty universal across all HP machines. I was adding new memory sticks to my HP Omen 880 recently and I got the dreaded 3 long beeps 2 short beeps error code. After my panic subsided, I got real close to the memory slots and gently but firmly pressed down on the securing clip side of the memory card, and suddenly it went in another mm or so and there was another 'click'. After that it worked like a charm. Those DIMM memory slots on the Tampa mb are poorly designed and take more effort than you'd think to seat them. When they first went in it did seem to click, but failed to seat, thus the error code. The Tampa MB with the i7-8700K CPU came with 16GB (2-8GB cards) of memory, and there is much conflicting information on if it will support more than the published 32GB of memory. Short answer is YES. I just added 2-16GB cards to the 2-8GB cards and now have 48GB of RAM. Same speed of DIMM's but different sizes in the paired slots. So YES it will support 64GB.

Hi! Can you tell me the difference between black and red slots? I´ve just bought 2x8GB Rams and it worked only between the slot number 1, 3 and 4, but not with de second one. What´s happening? Thank you!

The different colors assist with determining what channel each slot is associated with. The manual for the motherboard should tell you this.

+ukleonidas300 Yes. The maximum memory supported is 32 GB (4x8 GB) (64-bit OS) and it has 4 DDR4 UDIMMs memory slots. You can insert (4x8 GB) memory.

I have the 880-130 with 16GB ram want to upgrade to 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz, will it be able to overclock automatically ? I didn't see memory overclocking in Omen command center. I have 2x16GB CORSAIR Vengeance LPX DDR 3200 on hand, will that be ok to use or I have to buy 4x8GB ?

I currently have 2 8gb ram sticks, one that came with the prebuilt pc at 2666mhz speed and one i purchased at 2400mhz speed. It says that my ram speed is only 2133mhz, why is this? I am thinking of upgrading to two 8gb ram sticks ddr4 at 3200mhz speed. Is this compatible with my pc or will it just stay at the speed 2133mhz? If so what is the best ram to upgrade to and how do i fix my problem?

Can using a new ram that has the same gb and same hz but different brand be used without risk of damaging pc?

+WEBUX thanks for reaching out! I understand that you need to know whether different brands of memory can be used while upgrading. I'll do my best to assist you. Brand does not really make a difference. Speed and capacity makes more of a difference. Most people recommend using sticks of the same speed and capacity across all ram slots for maximum performance, but this does not mean that rams sticks of different speeds and capacity will not work if installed together I hope that the information provided is useful to you.

The HP 880-181 has the Tampa2 MoBo. The site says it supports up to 2400mhz DDR4. Somehow the ram stick that came with the PC was able to run at 2666mhz, so I thought I could buy a set of sticks with the same frequency . Turns out the PC downclocks the new sticks to 2111, below the advertised speeds. There's no way to enable XMP on the 880-181, because the Tampa2 MoBo has a locked BIOS.

I'll be trying out different sticks with the same specs as the one that came with the 181, made by Micron (model: mta8atf1g64az-2g6h1). That one is 8gb 2666mhz at CL-19. I doubt anything other than that exact ram stick would work at 2666mhz, which is why I plan to buy another pair of sticks with 2400mhz and CL19. These should work.

its ddr 4 ram and if you have 2400mhz in your pc then you scould buy the same mhz but if you tage all ram out of the pc and get some new to all the ram slots then it dont matters what mhz you have

Please help me I have a omen 880-010 and I bought new 8gbx2 and it worked fine putting the first module on the 3 slot (red) so I turned the pc back off and then when I got to the first slot (red) to put the other 8gb memory my pc starting making 3 long beeps and 2 shot ones and that memory error something and I tried cleaning too but too be honest before I got my new ram I was touching the pre built ram to learn it and i guess I’m broke the first slot (red) and now I been trying to use the black slots but it won’t let my monitor will just stay blank and say no signal. Yeah see I did this, replacing the standard 8GB with 2 Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks. Now I get the blue screen of death upon start up once a day. No fix seems to be working.
