I've been following Renaldo for about 10 years and never knew about this video. It's probably because he deleted it long before 2014. Since then, I've watched a lot of his content. I've seen him speak out against racism and I've also heard him discuss issues i strongly disagree with him on. He even did interviews with a lot of people, such as political figures from various political parties who both agree and disagree with him. I think he should get a chance to state his case and be heard out. And i really, and I mean really, hope that we apply this standard to anyone else accused or guilty of racism irrespective of their race, in the future.

The 2 minute version of Gouws' in your report is not the full version. The full version is 6 minutes long and includes the section immediately after the racist words where he says clearly that he didn't really mean what he had just said and that he was just doing it for effect.

So to be fair to the DA, it was possible that this was AI generated, but when it came out that it wasn't that was when the DA then suspended Gouws. The full context of the video is apparently about making some broader point, and obviously must be viewed in its historical context of 15 years ago and what was regarded as "acceptable" then. Was it acceptable 15 years ago to say the K word if using it was to make a broader non racist point? It's definately not acceptable now, and rightly so. Should Gouws be judged by today's standards for somthing done historically? Usually I'd say no, but on this? Flying an old SA flag now is definately a no, but should someone who flew one in the early 1990's be judged by today's standards?
