Desert Star Apartments on Bell road are the same way. My rent for a STUDIO apartment used to be $675.00. a month by the time my lease was up in July of 2020 I left only because rent went up to $975.00 a month like seriously just for a studio so I said screw it family here I come!

Can't find a place in Phoenix below 1000 unless you want to live in a real s-hole. When I moved here 7-8 years ago I got a not too bad 825 sq ft 1 bedroom for 700 in a not too bad area in Tempe. I rented an apartment last year during the pandemic for 1100, now you can hardly even find anything for that. If you want a decent place to live now you'll be paying about 1400 a month at minimum. Crazy watching this happen, and it is all across the country. With the economic effects from the pandemic, record inflation on the way, all the people who lost their jobs while we are also seeing record numbers of people quitting jobs and job shortages/supply shortages, it looks to me like we are all in for a bumpy ride.
It's not greed. Taxes, repair costs, insurance, are all going up and the eviction moratorium means property owners are getting screwed out of needed income. All this means increased risk to investors who are trying to hedge their bets against future risks. That's the free market, baby. Lassez faire. So stop wasting your money on things you don't need. Save it and buy your own house instead of renting.
That's crazy. How do you make a $500 increase all at once? You know this trend is going to back fire. Many people are adapting to being homeless. What will they do when folks stop renting and elect homelessness ? Where will they get money then? Greed has a way of biting you in the butt.
People should pay rent instead of stiffing their property owners for months...yeah..they gotta eat...so does the landlord...who is starving and paying high taxes

This is happening across the country and people better pay attention for not to do so is to ignore the quality of one's life. In some extreme cases rent has increased a thousand dollars since the start of this year and it is still rising. 😑
@Jellybean Alien, anyone who gives you one answer is wrong, Anyone who blames the crisis on one political group, no matter the group, has an agenda and they too don't know. What is emerging in America regarding housing is a very different kind of beast. It is not enough to say one knows but rather to remain educated to events. Rent is rising for several reasons and combined events at the same time makes circumstances frightening. Supply and demand, a lack of housing, a lack of affordable housing, who owns these rentals, international and hedge funds. We are going into the desert.
My advice to anyone facing eviction is to make sure that you're ready to leave the dwelling that you're living in - don't wait until the landlord is throwing your belongings out onto the street. Pack your most precious possessions, those "things I can't live without" belongings and be ready to put them either into storage or your vehicle. Contact Bob Wells w/CheapRVLiving on RU-vid and watch his videos on possible Eviction and what to do next; he can help you. If you have a vehicle - then you have shelter and a "mobile" home, so be thankful for that.
If they are claiming property care has doubled in 1.5 yrs with a green pool and jacked units as current maintenance issues they can't correct, it sounds like the new property management only cares about that $. Pay or get out, ecoconimic discrimination, this is new! They targeted an entire community they knew the tenants couldn't afford the new rates and would cause a shift in the entire complex. Usually its an annual increase of like $100 buuuut the living conditions are far better.
bet u wouldn't mind it tho if your source of income doubled given constant increase in rising inflation...oh now that would be just ok, but not for others only you
This happens everywhere! In Florida the cost of living goes up every year and pay stays the same then you have your landlord raising the rent every year. Making it so only the wealthy survive
Gotta raise the rent every year. In my area, every new tax that gets put on the ballot is voted in. The ballots always portray it as a tax on businesses, so the voters want to stick it to the business owners, because they have all the money right? They can't make the connection that the businesses are going to pass that right on to the customers.
So people reduced the number of landlords by bankrupting them with an eviction moratorium and now the renters complain there are less rentals leading to higher rents?
Isn't there some kind of a law in the US about raising rents more than a specific percentage? In Canada rents are not allowed to be raised more than 5% per year on your move-in anniversary date.
Some places do have laws, some don’t. Depends on where you are. Arizona does not have any protection laws. If your lease is up, or you are on a month to month lease, your landlord can increase the rent as much as they want. You have the option to accept the higher rent amount, or move out.
Basically it called rent control and idk how many states have it so rent does not go over a certain percentage anytime. some or many dont like it cause they say it stifles or blocks growth any as for now places and stuff but it helps so u not go homeless cause rent is up to high to pay anytime. besides the moratium cause some or many to stop paying rent even if they was able to at time. so now they have sold places to corps or just raise rent to fill gaps caused by no rent for so long.
Think about your comment why isn’t there more open housing probably most that died had family that lived in the house also so what your saying when they died the rest of the family had to move I’m sure it’s possible some may had to move if the person was the bread winner or single but really think about that it was very insensitive

That old lady has not received the notice yet because her current lease has not expired, but those on month to month are getting them. Property value has increased, which means property tax increases as well, unfortunately the bill flows downstream. And if some of the tenants abide by the moratorium, the property company knows it will take a lot of legal battle to get those 11 to 12 months rent, is much easier to raise rent as there is no limit.
Hopefully all who are upset would be kind enough to to rent/ sell a home below market value. Or work for wages below minimum wage to help out a struggling business. Otherwise, complaints become invalid.

I hope she knows someone with a street address she can use. Because you cannot register your car, your auto insurance, or your bank account to a P.O. Box address. On the surface this may look like a greedy play on the landlord. The increase is so vile that the landlord must be sending a message. Is it a new landlord who bought it from a distressed owner? Is the landlord seeking vengeance for the time he was powerless and tenants abused it? Its clear that the LL said screw it, by the lack of maintaining the pool.
