My speakers in the grandpa truck were ok but this upgrade took it up in a notch! Again, this wasn't a hard install we rate this job as a 1 nut out of 4 nuts; a caveman could do It.
On this channel, I will be completely transparent and honest. That is what you will get with us. No smoking mirrors here folks.

I just got all my new speakers today. I got the same front and rear speakers you did coincidently, but have a JBL club in the center dash. I think mine truck has the factory speakers. I am excited to hear the difference they will produce. Thanks for the awesome video.

I used the JL AUDIO C-7s on the 4 doors, 3.5 center and A pillar tweeters with the JL RD 400X4 amp. Then two 12" subs in stealth boxwith JL RD 1000 in a under backseat box. Very expensive but I saved up and bought each piece until I had a complete system and installed all at the same time. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. Sound is ridiculously crisp and very clear. 17 F150 4x4 crew cab lariat FX4

Yes. Still using the factory sync 3 radio. Still sounds clear and precise. Absolutely can't go wrong with JL AUDIO. If on more of a budget the C-3s sounds really really good to 👍

I would spray and clean the area after the old one was out but BEFORE the new one was sitting there. Interesting choice to spray and wipe with new speaker sitting there.

I bought I believe the same front speakers just the magnet was too big and I didn’t get a adapter bracket for them and wasn’t sure if I put one on if my door panel will fit back on

I’ll do that. Regarding the tweeters. I think I’ll leave them along. Due to the 6x9s in the door the highs are great but not overwhelming. I think you can over do the high ends. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!

Thank you for the kind words! That truck had a factory Sony system with sub installed. I did not change out the factory sub. Regarding the install it wasn’t bad at all. Take your time and make it count… you’ll be happy with the results.

Great video! Do you happen to know if any of these upgrades would affect the auto start/stop system when driving down the road? I've heard of some issues of peoples audio system turning off along with the start/stop system.

Good video - do you have to worry about the speakers being waterproof? Doesn't the backside of that panel see water? Isn't that why the vapor barrier there? Just curious - thanx

Thank you. No sir I’m not worried about moisture but they make speaker specific protectors for moisture and dirt. Personally it hadn’t been a problem for me over the years. Of course adding protection never hurt either. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!

I have a 2016 F150 Crew Cab XLT not Sony. When replacing speakers in truck do I need to install a new amp or does the factory stereo provide enough power to the new speakers?

Great question. You could add a amp to the system but it’s not necessary. Every factory system has an amp built in, it’s just not all that powerful but will be plenty to drive the bee speakers. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!

Neo magnets don't mean a bad speaker. People show these OEM speakers with tiny magnets and don't realize that is done for weight. It is actually more expensive.

awesome video! I have a few questions. Will all these speakers work if I don't have the Sony sound system? I'm curious, how come you didn't change out the tweeters in the A pillar? How many Harnesses would I need to order for all the speakers?

Yes you can install these speakers with any factory or aftermarket head unit. I didn’t change the tweeters because they are sufficient and the replacement for them can be a little challenging. Reference the description and I have everything listed. The kit comes with two adaptors so you’ll need two kits for the front and back speakers. Please me know if you have anymore questions.

I have a truck with no center speaker. I do have the place for it....but it's simply storage (like the front part of yours) . Can they be retrofitted to allow a center ?

I’m not sure… I’m sure it can be done. I will not be doing that to my new truck which is a STX. Not only would you have to modify the storage bin you’d have to wire in the new speaker to the system. For what you get out of the center speaker I wouldn’t bother. Just my opinion. Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching!

What did you end up doing with the tweeters on the Pilar’s? I see that most of all your speakers were either a two or three way! So theirs a lot of high end.

I kept the pillar tweeters stock. I didn’t want to have to customize the install on those. There is not a direct for replacement that I am aware of. They sounded just fine with the new speakers.

Would installing these speakers without having the premium audio amp still benefit? Assuming the stock head unit and Xlt base sound system. Thinking of doing the console and all 4 doors as well.

It’s definitely going to make an improvement… the stock system regardless of trim will still still through power to the aftermarket speakers and the aftermarket speakers will definitely be noticeable.

For the simplest install buy the speaker adapter kits listed. They plug right into the factory connection.

The brackets make the install easier and cleaner. If you’re really good you could maybe install without but in my opinion how cheap the brackets are just get them and install will be a while lot easier. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

I think it will be similar… I think that system has more powered watts than the Sony system which should yield some nice power aftermarket speakers!

It’s been some time now but if I recall I used the factory screws to mount the new speakers. Line up the bracket and screw the speakers into place.

Sorry for the late response. No 6 1/2 for the rear doors. If you want bigger speakers (6x9 in this case) you’ll have the modify the door.

Yes, I did continue to run my factory pillar tweeters. To be honest they really didn’t add a lot to mix. In my opinion, the three ways balanced everything out.

No, an additional amp is not required. Your head unit has a amp built in it already. However you can always add amp if you wanted to but it’s not required. Thanks for taking the time to comment and watching!

Did you upgrade the alternator or battery for the additional amp? Cause I want to add 2 amps and some woofers but don't know if the charging system can handle it

This truck had an amp from the factory that powered the system and the 8” sub. With some of my builds in the past I simply added a capacitor and it aided the system enough that battery and alternator was enough to do the job. It all depends on the amps you want to run. However, buying a deep cycle battery with a capacitor will definitely help you with any upgrades. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!

Just worried the factory head unit Amp won't drive anything bigger that's what I'm wondering. I don't mine getting an Amp for aftermarket speakers but it's going to be a ton more work vs just tossing speakers in.

I didn’t use any resistors. I can definitely hear more high ends with the three way and the sound is more balance. My passenger door has a plastic rattle when the volume is up but I believe I can fix it. I just need to take the panel off again and troubleshoot it.

This system actually has a small factory Sony amp included. I did consider adding an additional amp for a behind the sit 10” sub… but that is fair as I went with that system.

Had a dodge ram 1500 with a killer stock system when I got it and went to a gmc because if the engine that was solid trash and such a disappointment after driving that for so long but the engine died on the dodge which is the real downfall with hemis but went back to Ford with the Sony system and so much better but still not a Harmon Kardon system but really close. Pretty sure Dodge trucks have the best stock sound systems imo but had the same paper cheap cheap speakers in that gmc z71 smh, rediculous for that type of truck and should be better.

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 of course it matters: bigger/stronger magnet, stronger motor, stiffer suspension = promises for higher power handling = higher SPL... however, I have the impression amp hasn't changed. Anyway, all I am saying is that the factory system is thought out as a cheap (hopefully free of charge) sound solution. Of course almost any after market piece of hardware would be better, but a real overall improvement can only be achieved if other parts of the sound system are equally improved.

It's been 2 years but I'm pretty sure that third wire is for the tweeter and the wiring came with the speakers if I recall correctly.

You replaced an 8 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm speaker. Now the center channel speaker is unbalanced and will be louder therefore ruining the soundstage. Typical audio newbie.

Maybe you can answer my questions. I have the base model factory speakers, they are not Sony, so… what ohm are the door speakers? Looking to upgrade and the options I looked at some of the models of aftermarket speakers are 2ohm or 4ohm, which would be best?
