There is a reason why I am single because I could never bring the same amount of money as my partner, do the bulk of the work at home and still have to praise him for his participation which is pale compared to mine. Are men kids and women superheroes? How can your energy be gleeful in a space where you feel like you are doing everything ?! I love love and I am very understanding but I cannot self-abandon my needs like that.

I understand and agree with most of what Lauren is saying, I've been of this mindset within every relationship platonic or not as well, however, (just food for thought here) there's all this talk about it being your job to do "everything".....what was his job? Because if the playing field is leveled (not by income but by output/energy) you both have jobs.....then why is the onus on the woman to take care of all things home simply because that's the patriarchal model? This idea that it's a "woman's job" is mostly a fabricated structure devised by humans...which we know is rooted in patriarchy. We created these rules (or roles rather) for control and often times for structure that best serves one demographic vs. another. In the animal kingdom it varies but often times we see males taking on what in our human society females "should".

I loved this episode ! All of your perspectives are great to listen to and learn from. I don’t completely agree with the housework being her job, I get where she was coming from & it’s true that at times there will be an imbalance, I wouldn’t say it was a job though I think it’s a choice and a conversation to have between two people that decide to split responsibilities in a way where they both feel justified. The fact that he stepped up afterward is definitely the best case scenario and so glad they both got what they needed.

These conversations are so, SO important. It's literally therapy on the couch. These are the conversations that get discussed behind closed doors and never aired with anyone and everyone puts on a facade that their marriages are perfect. There's nothing more relatable than two human beings admitting their emotions and working through them. 🤍 Keep up the important work you guys! 👏

Lauren is just a complete GEM. Her story of not being “in the way” of her husband and making his life harder was so helpful to hear even though it’s a no brainer… I have a lot of reflecting to do after this episode for sure.

I love how Lauren mentions turning inwards and focusing on the changes she could bring to her marriage & how that inspired her husband to change as well. I'm surprised to learn talking didn't help as much but action did. I'm guilty of ruminating sometimes and action/inaction can speak louder than words. She is such a gifted speaker and has so much valuable insight regarding relationships. Beautiful episode, I'm going to apply some of the wisdom shared in my own relationship

This was really interesting and informative!!! I love Lauren’s insights as well!!! Can’t wait to see her back! I think it’s really beautiful how we can have these people / couples around us who are able to help us in times of need/uncertainty bc of what they have been through. I think it gives us confirmation we are not alone or what we’re dealing with in a relationship isn’t “abnormal” I guess. This all ties to exactly what this podcast is “Who Can Relate” lol thank you both again for opening up about this because although I just got out of a long term relationship I’m learning so much from your episodes for my future relationships not even in a couple but for myself. 🙏

I loved this episode. Especially because I can relate to Lauren about having home duties/mom duties and feeling like she’s taking all this load while dad is working. Being a ftm I related to that. But I also came to the realization that my husband is probably being praised at work because he’s getting kuddos about this and that and that’s probably where he’s going to want to be at rather than be at home with his family.. moral of the story like Lauren said I want to be his biggest cheerleader not someone’s that’s constantly what feels like nagging/complaining to him. Thank you for putting your guys marriage hardships on the public eye… it really does help inspire me to be a better person/wife🙏🏻🤍
