so today we're looking at a quick review
of the evolution
guide rail track for a circular saws
recently got this because as
much you know i'm doing a big shed
builder at the minute and that just
needs to cut a lot of panels
as you can see here from the photo this
is what you get i got the uh 2.8 system
which is two 1.4 meter rails
you get two clamps the joining bars
little iron key and a little carry bag
i went for this size largely based on
the size of osb
panels obviously the 2.8 rail
is ideal for this joined together do a
length work and on
one on its own can do a sideways cut
so what's the difference between all the
guide rails well essentially
i mean the manufacturers might tell you
differently there's none it's an old
festoon
design that's long since gone out of um
patents
so now all the manufacturers just copy
it so why evolution well price of course
i mean it's just a vast discount to the
festoon product
so let's take a quick look uh of the
products in real life
so here is the bars in and tightened
with a little allen key
it creates a very smooth join
there we go the clamps stop two parts to
the clamp
the little nut on the leg of the clamp
kind of solve your macro adjustment and
then you just tighten it up with a
handle
and don't be scared the first time you
use the guide rail you will cut off the
excess uh plastic nose trim there on the
guide rail
when you first get the guide rail it's
sometimes a little bit stiff it's a
little too
of a ptfe spray on your base of your
sword and on the guide rail
just helps massively and then every so
often you might need another one
just to finish off let's look at the
guide rail in action with my
circular saw there we're just going
lengthways down a kitchen worktop so i'm
just making a shelf for my
shed as you see in the background there
