IGFTW Ep. 24 takes a look at a PS1 game that I'm assuming most people have never heard about, Sony Computer Entertainment and Zest Works' 1998 action adventure game Wonder Trek. You can call it a "hidden gem," you can call it an activist game, you can call it a work of art--I call it a damned good title with charm, heart and an thought-provoking message.

Gameplay was captured using the Elgato Game Capture HD, and video/audio was edited using Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite, Version 12. Music was used from Getsu Fuuma Den (Konami, Famicom), Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (Konami, Xbox 360), and Genpei Toumaden (Namco, Arcade)
Other games featured in this video are Panzer Dragoon Orta (Sega, Xbox), Juouki: Project Altered Beast (Sega, PS2), Super Mario 3D World (Nintendo, Wii), Ghost in the Shell (SCE, PS1), Tetsujin 28-Go (Bandai, PS2), Gourmet Sentai Barayarou (Virgin, Super Famicom), Sentimental Graffiti 2 (NEC Interchannel, Dreamcast), Dark Souls (From Software, PS3), The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Nintendo, Gameboy Advance), and Ore! Tomba! (SCE, PS1).
All music was taken directly from the game, except for the opening track, which is from Gensou Suikogaiden Vol. 1 (Konami, PS1).
A few movie/television video clips were taken from Densha Otoko (Fuji TV), Cliffhanger (Tristar), Brokeback Mountain (Focus Features), and Princess Mononoke (Studio Ghibli).

Just when I think I've heard of every obscure game out there, you find another one and I totally want to play it.

Even though adventure games aren't really my thing, I really love the look and feel of this game as it looks like it has a real sense of atmosphere while still being warm and friendly with its cartoony presentation.

I love games with a deeper message and actual good gameplay. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I watch this every couple years, such a good video. One of those untranslated games that I can't believe still hasn't got an english patch.

Man, how did I never know this channel existed before? Import gaming is my passion, and has been for 15+ years now. When I lived in Japan, I would raid Book-Off, Book Market, Geos, and any other used goods shop I came across for cheap used PS1 games I'd never heard of that looked or sounded interesting. 9 times out of 10, they'd be terrible, but that 10th time, they were amazing and I discovered some real hidden gems -- games like Moon and Community POM. I would later continue this tradition after moving back to the States via PSN, where I discovered other hidden PS1 gems like Addie no Okurimono, The Adventures of Robin Lloyd, and Weltorv Estleia.

Looks pretty good, the visuals actually remind me a bit of Bonanza Brothers.

my grandparents had a ps2 in japan and i always used to look forward to playing this game whenever i'd visit. I didn;t have a ps1 memory card (ps2 cards were incompatible) so i used to have to start a new game over and over, but still had loads of fun. The bosses were pretty challenging for a kid! THe music and environments in this game were phenomenal imo, such a good atmosphere!

Who the fuck could dislike this. You're a youtube gem, Jimmy. Love all your videos and you deserve a much bigger following (but it's cool that you're underground!)

It's cool to find an unknown gem like this on the great old systems. You'd think we'd run out one of these years, but we never seem to stop discovering them! I will certainly keep an eye out for this one on eBay now. Also: R.I.P. egg.

I really love it when you cover such adorable games,it really suits this channel ,there is something innocent about it you know? Like in combination with the voice describing the game ,the variety of footage presented in the video and the selection of the game itself ,your videos feel like founding a secret beach nobody knows about with the perfect sunset view all for yourself...love this channel, keep it up~

you make me want all the imports. This looks like a fun little game and something I would totally play! It was just all so cute and that music.. was it all from the ost? It definitely gave off a sense of wonder, you narrating/reviewing made it seem even more vast. Good work as always jimma

Needs a reboot as a third person shooter where your goal is to stop the Forest with extreme prejudice and guns
