I wish you talked about Human Remains, they're a bit grindy but they could get super out there at times. Also, have you ever considered doing a video about Fallen Christ?
I do like Human Remains but I probably need to listen to them more if I ever do something on them. I wanna say I talked about Fallen Christ a little bit in the Immolation video but I could definitely do more with them. I was actually listening to Abduction Ritual a LOT a couple weeks ago, incredible album.
Weird coincidence but I just got a package from corpse gristle and they threw in the wicked innocence album you’re talking about for free. Can’t wait to check it out
Given that you put Deo Soli Invicto in the end, will you ever do an episode about the GOATs of black metal, i.e. Spite Extreme Wing? If that's the case, please put my waifu Seulgi in the thumbnail / background. It would automatically become my favorite YT video ever
I don't know if I can do justice to Spite Extreme Wing the same way Terminus podcast did with that two-hour plus retrospective, but they are definitely one of my favorite bands. Seulgi's lovely, also a big fan of Irene and Wendy.
I know you've mentioned your appreciation for New Jersey Death Metal in the past. Would you ever consider one covering a few bands from the state (Damonacy, Revenant, Gaffed, ect) in the style of the New York death metal video? Also, me thinks a video on Acheron would probably be a killer one
I actually did cover Damonacy back on Episode 296 Death Metal Demos Part 3, they were definitely a killer band. I do have something special planned for Gaffed, so stay tuned for that! Revenant and Acheron are great too obviously, I'll probably do something on them some day but I need to listen to them more.
I’ve always personally thought Hellwitch was the first “tech death” band. It’s definitely thrashy but also completely off the rails riff wise. Transgressive Sentience demo is still mind blowing now I can’t imagine hearing that in the 80s.
Random question for ya Jiub. You familiar with Alienation Mental from the Czech Republic? Your tidbit about how the Oppressor dudes dabbled into Nü Metal reminded me of them. Really brutal and technical band with some wacky Nü Metal parts
I actually have listened to them a couple times, but I'd need to do so a lot more thoroughly in order to do an episode on them. They actually remind me a bit of that Hermafrodit band I covered on Episode 179 or Love History. The Czechs are really good at cranking out weird groovy stuff!
@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 The album Ball Spouter is one of my all time favorite brutal death metal/deathgrind records. The drumming and the riffs on that record SMOKE
Admittedly, not too much of a tech death listener but I do have a complaint about the modern stuff I have listened to and it's mostly drum sounds. Bunch of deathcore has this too. I swear its like they picked up the same VST plugins from some metal mixing youtube guide. And when it gets djent-y, it's just over.
Not trying to nitpick here, but I pulled up Wicked Innocence"Omnipotence" on Amazon and don't see the track "thoughts." I think "Totality" actually matches what you played here, and of course, things can always change between pressings. Either way, interesting sound and I had never heard of them before. Just wanted to drop this in case where having trouble finding that track
Looks like I'm getting pulled out of the Black Metal pit with this one. I knew this day would come. Time to learn to appreciate Tech Death. At least it's old school, too. None of that slick modern shit
Surprised you didn't talk about the weird shitty brutal butt rock stuff Wicked Innocence did... Okay, you know what i wouldn't even call it shitty but it's definitely weird
