It would be awesome if they did a shot show tour. Hit cities in every region of the US. Have one in Portland or Seattle, have one in Colorado, one in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, New York. Just 1 in each region would be awesome so people could come for a weekend at different times of the winter.
Samaritan: "Here is the RIA 5.0 everyone is excited about." Simon Says: "What else you got?" Samaritan: "You got any aspirin? I've had this really bad headache all day." Simon Says: "Keeps the bottle."
That 380 looks like a clone of the Bersa Thunder, which I own and is an excellent little DA/SA gun, highly under-rated! Disappears in a pocket & I can put several rounds in a softball-sized target at 7 yards with it. Mine came with rubber finger-grooved grips for $269...
@@FunnyHaHa420 not the hi point 😂 all though I’m kinda excited to see the new hi points come out i mean threaded barrel, double stack mags, better grips,Glock compatible sights and optics ready for the low $200 range nobody is offering anything with all those features for anything close to that
Eagle Importers or whoever it was that was previously importing the Bersa either lost their license or couldn’t renegotiate a contract with Bersa a couple years back. There was another importer/distributor in the works but it looks like maybe that fell through. Either way as an owner of a T380 I’m happy to see them coming back in again, as it should help with magazine availability. Ideally maybe we’ll see some additional development come along in terms of aftermarket support too.
@@BuckeyeBallistics I wish all these new 380s would come out in 30sc. The new Beretta Cheetah, hell even this Rock Island single stack would be bad in 30sc. But you can't make cheaper blowbacks in 30sc. Idk how it works exactly, I know the recoil impulse is either equivalent to or less than 9, but the crazy chamber pressure makes me wonder if they'll end up like the wave of glock 23s and 27s in 40 that would wear out in a few years.
Even though their L380 looks similar to the old Bersa Thunder 380, its bringing a good value to the market, at that price! I want to check one of those out now!
My favorite part is that the gun has a rounded external trigger guard which is more reminiscent to the classic PPKs and P230s than the Thunder. Hope they release a version in Stainless too.
I picked up a ria 45 for $439, front & back serrations, beavertail, Skeletonized trigger with commander hammer, g10 grips, upgraded sights. That thing is rad for the price and what you get, definitely want to try more models out.
Everyone is talking up PSA......This is the stuff I am excited for! seems like ppl/the market is already getting tired of micro-9s, I've noted 3? new metal 380s, That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.
A little disappointed we didn't get a "WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL!" after James' intro, but the rest of the video was fantastic! Hope to see more of John on TFBtv.
That RI 5.0 is looking really good all the stuff I’ve seen about it, would love to own one when they are more available. Also John McLain seems like a cool dude and very informative.
just curious why when 9mm micro compacts have the same or sometimes more ammo capacity, a bigger round to punch through things, and ammo is much cheaper per box than .380? Not to mention the lack of holster options for .380 guns.
@@anthonyfanella6523 Ammo pricing is the result of economies of scale. 9mm is used by militaries and law enforcement so millions of rounds are run at a time. .380 manufacturing runs are a fraction of 9mm...I imagine it's the same with holsters
@@anthonyfanella6523 You’re not gonna get a micro 9 to deliver truly impressive ballistics with any safe loading. 9mm needs to be 4.5 inch barrel or longer to get that 1250 FPS ‘one hitter quitter’ potential. So you’re going to need to hit two shots from any micro compact, might as well pick the one that is easier to shoot.
Just checked, Bersa is still producing their Thunder. I used to have one, nice enough gun. Looks like they have threaded barrel versions now, which is actually pretty cool for a straight blowback gun.
Talon Distributers is the new importer. Make sure you stick to standard pressure ammo, and remember that the Thunder takes the same recoil spring as a Walther PP. It doesn’t hurt to swap the stock spring out after about 500 rounds.
Suprised there isn't a threaded barrel option on all these new crop of .380's given the already subsonic nature of the round. Seems like they could sell a bunch to guys wanting to larp as Bond.
I think its great that RIA has expanded and looks like they are turning out some quality hardware ,,just like PSA is also really turning out alot of quality stuff ,,American made products generally are the best ,,and we pay top dollar for anything thats made in the USA here in Australia, its a pity the gun laws here in Aussie are tighter than a fishes a-hole ,only the rich can afford all the licence and yearly fees you have to pay just to own a bolt gun ,,i grew up with guns and shooting from a very young age , my father taught me to shoot when i was 4 years old and i had my first air rifle (which was to hard for me to load myself till i was 8 )at 6 year old and my first 22 at 12 ,,my first 22 was a bolt gun and the next 2 or 3 were all Ruger 10-22's and then at 15 i had a 222 and then a 270 win ,couple of shotguns ,5 shot semi auto's and ny favorite was my stainless ruger 10-22 ,,man that was a flat shooter ,i got my first Roo at 400 meters with that rifle and 1000 meter with my 270 Winchester, then the gun laws changed dramatically ,,because i wasn't 18 and my father had been in jail for drink driving i had to hand them all in ,i managed to get a licence at first in the northern territory but when it exspired i had changed states and i could not renew it in the new state i moved to so my guns were taken and been gunless ever since ,,it really upsets me how tgis country has gone ,,,its like a half democratic half Chinese commie country now ,,people dont raise our flag or have any prude left these days and well i dont blame them as this is not the country my grandfather went to war for ,2 world wars he fought in and he would be turning in his grave rite now if he new what this country has become ,,its sad guys ,,so whatever your beef is between Democrat or Republican ,,join forces on the 2A front and never never ever give up your guns ,,if anything you and every person in America need about 5 guns each with a couple thousand rounds for each gun in dry storage ,,get trained and be a good shot ,,its all in the breathing my grandfather would say ,,anyway dribled enough ,,,i dont think as Australians we ever thought that the gun control would get so ridiculous ,,,dont ever put your guns on any sort of registry ,,because they will know exactly how many to collect when they decide to make up some random B.S to pinch you with to really only disarm a person ,i think we would have kept our freedom if we had put up a fight and god i wish we had of back then ,they made it sound like they just wanted people to feel safer ,,one law after a law after a law ,law, law ,ban ,ban ,ban until they took mostly all ,,there is still a million odd in circulation that they never got ,,that is why there is daily gun violents in this country still as it cant be stopped no matter how many laws ,bans and gun confiscations ,,,so many guns out there still after 30 years of taking them off people ,,un registered guns they didn't get and there all the ones the criminals still have and use to do bad things with ,,they are dreaming to think they will get them all ,,more come in every year illegally so they have no hope ,,i just wish i could still shoot and have fun with guns ,,i miss it so so bad it hurts like a MF.
RIA making some great products. That competition gun looks pretty revolutionary--i wish they'd gone over it in more detail. Also I like that Bersa clone!
Just bought a RIA M206 revolver, partially based on TFB TV's review. It's a really nice little gun. I've only shot about 50 rounds through it and at fairly close range but it was remarkably accurate with great trigger pulls. Wish there were more grip options for it like some larger wood grips. I hope RIA leans into the inexpensive revolver market more.
I’ve had mine for about five years, and it’s dependable as the day I bought it. It’s a hoot to shoot and I’ve found it’s pretty nostalgic for older shooters to get behind.
@anton1949 while that may be the case, I simply tend to shoot well with 9x18 Makarov and want something a bit more available. It's an easy cartridge for for my well worn and thoroughly vintage 22 year old hands, lol. It ain't just old folks.
@@FCV0511 The new Beretta 80 series and clones are okay, but I still prefer the looks of the classic Cheetahs. I would absolutely love a Beretta 84FS or 85FS chambered in 9mm, even if it had to be scaled up slightly. We are getting into the age of rather compact micro 9s. A small DA/SA 9x19 with the looks and handling like an older Beretta Cheetah would be killer!
I clicked on this video because I'm excited for another DA/SA carry gun, but John is the man. Passionate and nerdy in the best way. Protect this man at all costs, he is a treasure. More videos please. I just want to watch him in front of a camera talking about something he loves.
RIA's New Utah Factory is already up and humming ! That 5.0 Is incredible. A completely new non tilting barrel design . Really is a incredible target/competion pistol I will bet, Over a decade Fred Craig put into designing and testing etc of this pistol. That new BBR 9mm looks great too!
@@FoxtrotFleet No, it's not suspicious as in CZ83 is similar, and Makarov is similar to PPK, because they share design elements... this is in fact a Bersa, marketed as a RIA. It is a Thunder .380, right down to the same key in the frame lock above the triggerguard suspicious... The magazines are the same.
The more new guns the better, but for carry purposes I tend to go with the tried and true that I don't have to question their reliability. Give it a few years for the kinks to work out and I'm buying em all!
Very nice presentation. John's level of enthusiasm and marketing expertise is definitely a true asset to the company. I'm going to check out the shotguns and also the 380 pistol. A couple of nice offerings.
If they were going to do a Bersa clone, then why not go for the Thunder 380 Plus, since it has a 15 round magazine. Also, it needs better sights or the ability to change sights to something better.
My luck has been hit or miss with RIA, but I like the innovation and the poverty-tier pricing on a lot of their stuff. I will say, the shotguns and pistols aren't made by the same manufacturers. The RIA Imports / Armscor International shotguns come from Turkey (made by Derya if I'm not mistaken). The pistols, I believe, are made in the Phillipines, at least their 1911s. The 10mm 1911 I had worked well, especially for the price, whereas of the two shotguns I've owned the VRPA 40 was trash whereas the Meriva works great and looks to have at least some parts compatibility with Rem 870 parts (like side saddles and mag tube end caps).
I have their import VR80 semi auto shotgun and its growing in the competition shooting field. No its not a Berretta but its an amazing semi auto for about $600.00. I have RIA doublestack 199's and have been a longtime fan of them as well. They make more 1911's than anybody in the Phillipines. The new USA plant in Utah is up and running putting out shotguns and the new 5.0 so that is great news!
I got a CZ 83 in 380 and it's been my favorite compact in that caliber by far. It's just so easy to shoot, very ergonomic and is double stack. It's still fairly large though. Just need a version with a working decocker.
This company is seriously beginning to impress me. Interesting to see how some of the innovating does in the long run, test if time. Thanks for the work James. Check is in the mail 😊
RIA is one of my favorite manufactures. In my experience everything I've had from them has been great. They also made the first gun I ever had. Dad bought me an Armscor m1600 when I was a kid it's still in my safe to this day.
That Makarov-looking gun used to be all-steel and was chambered in 9x18 - not .380. Thsi was an issue here in the Philippines as Armscor was selling it as .380. It was a good and accurate gun - so long as you use the right ammo. Just inspect it well before buying. Also, for some odd reason, RIA is cheaper in the USA than here in the Philippines. Suxx.
I always root for RIA, my buddy got two of their 1911s years ago when nobody had really heard of them here and they both shot great and were dead on reliable even though they cost way less than anything else on the market. These days theres quite a few lower priced 1911 makers out there but that wasn't always so. It's cool to see them doing new things. The RIA 5.0 looks sweet. Not sure there's much of a market for the .380 though. You can get something lighter with 4 more rounds capacity just as cheap so not sure there's a big market for a steel da/sa .380 single stack above what the Bersa already fills just fine. Plus you could always grab a CZ83 for an extremely well-made da/sa all metal .380 that holds 12 rounds.
@@spartaninvirginia I've seen more people get their weapon taken off them when it was on their body than people getting their purse snatched and losing it that way. Even if you did run the risk of losing control of your firearm, its better to have it anyway because, uh, you're more than likely not going to lose control of your bag.
RIA 5.0 looks excellent. RIA Lightning seems a good choice if I can't find a Bersa Thunder when I do go looking. RIA .45's are peak, I'm looking forward to trying one of their double-stack versions.
Nice look at some new hardware. John might want to bone up on Rule #2, though. Just sayin'. Those muzzles spent a lot of time pointed at James's middle.
OMG it's a friggin Bersa Firestorm!!!!! I bought one 15 years ago...I love it. Please make one in 22TCM and 22LR. Will the firestorm finger grips work on this.... if you want to do a side by side comparison , hit me up and I'll get it to ya.
These are some new whiz bang guns from RIA however anyone considering purchasing these items note that armscor and RIA have terrible customer service. I purchased a 5inch 9mm Tac Ultra double stack 1911 style pistol as my first foray into the 2011 world. It’s actually a very good Gun and very fun to shoot. It’s pretty accurate and probably a very good buy for the money (the finish isn’t high end but not bad). I was concerned that the detente for the thumb safety might be a bit loose since I kept accidentally deploying it, which does not happen with my other 1911 and my staccato. In an abundance of caution (and before the warranty ran out) I sent the gun back to armscor / RIA. There is an expected 6-8 week turnaround time. My pistol was sent back fedex and received at their facility 12/19/2022. Since that time I have not had any confirmation they have received the firearm, let alone looked at it. I have emailed them several times and have called and Placed on cosmic hold three times without being able to speak with anyone. All I want is confirmation they have the weapon and that they are working in it so I can relax that the gun wasn’t stolen or misplaced. Hopefully this enthusiastic salesperson will read this and forward it to their customer service department.
The only weird thing to me is that the .380s were single stack. I was actually planning on getting one before I got the new Beretta 80x but like really why single stack?
