@@slavicshade2332 I'm aware that the show has dark elements but it's still comedy. I laughed when the kid melted. It's not a real kid. It's a drawing. If you guys cant handle it dont watch lol
There is no way Rick's ship doesn't have shields that can handle two drunks, and a handful of cops. So the ship's AI either enjoys violence, or it doesn't like Summer and wants to annoy her.
More so his dependence on others is what he considers a flaw, because while he still loves Morty the non-toxified version has no concern killing a Morty.
it's just an alien, it's rated PG and okay for cable if u shoot an alien child. DON'T YOU KNOWWW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEEN ACCEPTABLE CHILD SHOOTINGS AND UNACCEPTABLE ONESSSSSSSS. IF ITS MESSED UP THEN SOCIETY IS MESSED UP AND THAT CAN'T BE TRUE.
Jay Sherard technically they didnt die, he didnt shoot any of them :/ EDIT: 4 years after and yes, I admitted to him shooting them in the replies, look for it.

In this episode, Rick actually started to think Jerry was alright. It wasn't until knowing he made a deal with a group of aliens to kill him that he started to not like Jerry again. Before, they were drinking and telling jokes like friends, when at first it was a pity adventure.
First i though that since he is sanchez je is part mexican and he is a little racist so the detox removed that small part as well but watching it closeli he indeed gets darker but not in a racial way, his skin gets paler, it loses red pink and gets more gray, i think it is because of the stress and tirenes of living, or guilt or whatever torments rick, well thats my thought (wow thats a though word)
Watched that last clip with my father when the episode first came out i held in the laughter afraid that he wouldn't approve and he was in tears laughing his ass off once it clicked in what happened. Great bonding moment
Yeah, when Rick and Morty got detoxified, their color palette became much more brighter and when they got retoxified, their color palette darkened again to normal. I love that detail the animators added.
@@greentoasterfish7772 a better word would be "desaturated," not darkened. either way, yeesh, I've never seen someone leap that far to get to a conclusion. yikes.
The fact that Rick sees him caring about morty as a flaw tells you all you need to know about his character. Even with all he does he is still not a good person. He hates all his good traits, but he wants to change. He isn’t a good person, but he’s trying to be.
Although the toxicity that is left behind is not based on wether or not he considers it a flaw. This "irrational affection" is truly because the Morty we see is not his grandson. Not even related to him, he went ahead and became a part of an abandoned Beth's family to cope with losing his daughter. But at the same time is what's holding him back from moving forward. That's why the machine expels his "Love" for Morty. It actually expels his unhealthy cope mechanisms.
It's irrational attachment, in that he can't allow himself or his grandson to grow as people separate from one another. But you see that attachment addressed in the most recent Evil Morty episode. He was able to overcome it and actually tried to give Morty his own humanity
@@Carlete123That would imply being biologically related would make it rational affection. Which is simply not true, who's semen or ovum you came from doesn't matter a single bit
Its crazy how its so dark but so true at the same time. Its like that father instinctively knows something is wrong with on of his babies. A true father.
i got a bettr joke What's the difference between a northern fairytale and a southern fairytale? A northern fairytale begins "Once upon a time ..." A southern fairytale begins "Y'all ain't gonna believe this shit ..."
@@montes401 oh leave him alone. The space ship use psychological attack against the cops the kid "Hunter" you see is just a replica the ship made. Just pure genius!!
@@trankhackinh6134 "just pure genius" not really, it's just gratuitous. i can understand chuckling, or even the slight exhale from your nose, but a full on cackle/laugh or some shit is sociopathic.
Don't forget, remember when Jerry was riddled with bullets and the hospital was capable of saving him? I like to think that the girl was similarly saved :)
3:15 You can see in his face he doesn't want Morty to suffer and in a while he sacrifices himself or the other version of Rick because he hates seeing Morty suffer like this
I feel so sad in the hunter scene because my uncle’s son died to a car accident i can’t imagine how hard it is to see your child again just to die in your hands.
2:40 I was confused when Rick said that his attachment to Morty and his family is irrational. Now I know it's because it's not his original Morty and the only family he truly loves (and misses) is his original, dead one :(
I never really saw that last one as a joke. I can't recall the exact words he used but Terry Pratchett once said something along the line of "Even in comedy, when idiots are running around with weapons, people are bound to die".
They were playing in a place with a dome that revives you if you die. It’s an amusement park where the whole gimmick is you can’t die. For the kids it’s like playing with a nerf gun and it suddenly turns into a real gun.
@@DeathnoteBB I know, I saw that episode. What I meant is that I did not see the child killing his playmate as a joke, but more as a callback to reality, showing that you should not blindly trust something to make sure your kids will be okay if they shoot each other with. I don't know, maybe it's just my view of this kind of thing that prevents me to laugh at this particular joke.
Not really, that Morty is the grandson of the Rick that killed his wife and daughter, it is not his Morty because he never got his own Morty his Beth was murdered too young. Loving that Morty while still knowing he is the Grandchild of his worst enemy is an irrational attachment
@alexadelta9 No. You're wrong. Morty is an innocent. The irrational thought is projecting the animosity he has for Rick Lrime onto our Morty. I should also point out his excuse of "You're not my Beth/Summer/Etc" is irrational because Rick wants to reap the benefits of having a family, but not give the emotional support maintaining his side of the relationship.
I dont know why, but the 2 pig snot aliens at the end were so powerful for some reason, imagine living In a town where there is no death only for you to accidentally kill your family member
When Rick's spaceship scanned and searched for the father's history, created a clone of his son, and made the son die to psychologically torture and traumatize him, it just shows how evil, cruel and sadistic Rick's creations can be just like him. And it's not far fetch to consider Rick as "the devil" himself just like how an actual devil call him as that.
Speaker of Truth He actually provided a great explanation you tard. What are you an english major? This isn’t a “no shit” moment you dumbass. I bet you have a very big brain!
I liked this episode because it shows he really does care about Morty but Rick is still toxic and that love for Morty is still tied in with his toxicity
