I'm so fascinated by Rick Rubin. This man produced a giant handful of the best metal AND the best rap, AND the best pop albums of all time, back when those worlds didn't interact. His ability to produce hit tracks in seemingly any genre is just amazing
@PartiallyC0rrect
@PartiallyC0rrect 2 года назад
You could say he’s (and the artists he chose to work with) are the sole reason that these genres interact at all in todays creations. They took risks, and executed them so well that society and humanity adopted them as creations of their own. They were at their very definition, revolutionary.

@@PartiallyC0rrect I've known of Rick Rubin for quite a while I would say but only in the sense he's a very distinctive looking dude who seems to show up in a lot of music vids and docs I've watched over the years. Only in the last couple of years did I piece it all together and realize the true scope of his contributions to the art and to my life individually in a very real sense. A lot of people say they're creative but very few actually are and even fewer have the other attributes required to turn that creativity into something productive and of value. Then there's the whole successfully replicating that countless times, across 3 genres over the course of the last 4 decades, truly remarkable. Hyperbolic terms like 'revolutionary' or 'creative genus' have all too often been used carelessly and unjustifiably, in this case however... What a fucken dude.

For real cuz Rick Reuben really just makes suggestions and encourages the artist’s natural talent. He has absolutely no technical or musical education or background. He admitted in an interview. He barely plays any instruments and he has no idea how to work a soundboard….so this white man just been vibing with artists and then calling himself a producer? I’m extremely confused, yet fascinated and just jealous at the same time cuz I do that with my friends who are musicians all the time lol but I actually sing and write so I contribute more. Im tryna figure out how he got to this level with no musical background or actual knowledge of engineering….wtf lol

My top 5 Rick Rubin Studio Moments: 1) RUNDMC/Aerosmith "Walk This Way" the first time 2 genres from different ends of the spectrum, Rock&Roll & HipHop came together on a major scale, this hit the masses big time. (note: The Beastie Boys first record "Rock Hard" in 1984/85 was the Beasties rapping over sampled AC/DC's "Back In Black". Also on the flip side of this record "Momentum" had Rick acting also as their DJ DoubleRR, where he scratched different genres of records by Led Zeppelin (hey hey mama), etc... 2) BeastieBoys "Licensed to Ill" the entire album. Ricks use of different rock records and old school soul & hiphop samples catapulted the Beasties with their entire own sound. 3) JOHNNY CASH "Hurt" The Re-flip of Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" sang by Johnny Cash at the end of his career and after suffering some major losses, was a very unique and special, yet eerily brilliant record. 4) Tom Petty "Wildflowers" the entire album This album was an instant classic once Rick & Tom got together and recorded some monumental material, still on heavy heavy rotation by millions. 5) Adele. What he did with Adele & her album, was well, fucking BRILLIANT. Now, I've got more of what I think was some Top Studio moments of Rick Rubin, but these come to mind first. Rick is definitely in my Top 5 favorite producers of all time. Thanks, Raytona $ickWid'It Records. @Raytona500 (IG, Twitter, etc...)

Yeah Rick has never actually written or created any track or actually produced lol he just listens to music, encourages the artists and tells them to do takes over until it sounds good to him and gives suggestions as to how to sing or rap the song with no technical terms at all. Lol A black person would NEVER be able to do this little and be this infamous lol I know composers who play and know every instrument who are nowhere near as famous. Amazing song writers who are still not acknowledged. He is basically a music critic with no background in music. A food critic who has never been to culinary school or been a coook lol a director who has no idea how to work a camera. I’m sooo in awe of this Lmao

I was a year ahead of Rick in high school. I wonder if he’d remember me. I was a musician and the first into punk and did the look. I’d sure remember me, but he’s lived a lot of life. It’s nice to have a connection to someone so successful and I appreciate and respect his work. I remember where he hung out in the cafeteria (our school was cool), I remember he liked to wear black, but I honestly never saw it coming! Then, one day I was walking on the boardwalk and saw a Beastie Boys video being filmed. We lived in a great place.
