Guitar demo of the lush and liquid Adineko Oil Can Delay by Catalinbread.
The Adineko is a digital emulation of the legendary Tel-Ray Oil Can Delay that became famous for its lush ambience and murky vibrato, which created a delay tone unlike anything else at the time. As with anything by Catalinbread, the Adineko totally nails the tone it seeks to emulate, but it also does so much more. With the Timing and Balance knob you can go way beyond the short slapback limitations of the original units and actually get long interstellar repeats that dance and sway across the air waves. This makes the Adineko equally great for groovy slapback tones as well as long, stretchy ambient compositions.
Gear used:
Squier Classic Vibe Strat (Simon Neill Signature)
Fairfield Circuitry Accountant Compressor
Catalinbread Adineko
TCE Ditto Looper Gold
Fender Deluxe Reverb RI 65 recorded with an Aston Origin mic

I really appreciate that you bring a different style to pedal demos. It's a lot more subdued than most pedal channels and it highlights different aspects of the pedals' sound. Keep up the great work.

Adineko- I love the haunting tone of this pedal. Every tone tells a story and no matter how fantastic, if told convincingly, transports the listener to a secret world. A place where the soul can breathe and the mundane is dissolved, grounding us in the depths of imagination. Likewise, Stephan, you and your videos convey a willingness to dive into the creative and immerse ourselves in the possibilities. Well done! Currently awaiting the arrival of my new pedal.

I love your focus on ambient delays. I greatly enjoy these demos, and considering that you are up and coming, it's really impressive to see that you try to captivate people with quality music instead of shitty riffs. Well done. I'm Australian by the way - sometimes it's nice to see the reach of your work - keep it up man!

Dude! Thank you. Your kindness is overwhelming. Really means a lot to me that you enjoy the demos, and the musical examples that go with them. I'm not a riffer, so I stick to the melodic and ambient playing that I know how to do :) Cool how the internet can bring content from Denmark all the way to Australia. Super neat!

Well, I now am the proud owner of this beautiful delay. I have counted it and it’s the nineth delay on my board now. Easy to say that I’m a sucker for delays. This delay sounds absolutely gorgeous, it has this most amazing warble and sounds LUSH. When sending this thing through a stereo reverb ( like a GFI Skylar) you’re suddenly interstellar. Great Demo of this beautiful pedal Stefan.

@@thepedalzone I ended up getting one, I love murky swirls when the "reverb" knob is up. . Still have Volante on the board as well. I use a Keely Eccos on my smaller board. Delay is such a picky thing for me.

Beautiful sounds, great demo. I ordered one of these after watching a bunch of videos including this one. Now my Belle Epoch, which I also enjoy, will move to my wife's pedal board. Because I think this one is going to be the main delay on my board. Have to see if it translates in band practice...

That's so cool, man! Really happy you liked the demo. It's a highly unique delay pedal. I was seriously surprised by how much I actually like it. I thought it was just gonna be a one-trick pony, but it does so much more than standard murky oil can tones :)

You know, I really love the Catalinbread stuff, I currently have a 5F6 Bassman in a box and an Echorec, and they might be the 2 best pedals I have. The Echorec gets lots of love on the net, and I think it is inspiring and the most musical sounding pedal I have ever tried (original Electric Mistress #2). But it is a pedal that to me is very wet no matter what, and super distinctive, so I need to take a break now and then, and I stumble upon your demo of the Adineko. I think you have done an amazing job of showing just how great this very quirky sounding pedal can sound. I don't think i've heard this pedal in this kind of light . Awesome job, just awesome. Maybe I need one of these instead of a Belle Epoch deluxe. I don't use wah, so it wouldn't shock me to figure out I could make a great board with only this brand if I gave it some thought.

This search-is-over level clean tone for Fender amp fans. Masterful. Just the Squier>Accountant>DRRI alone is a done deal. Of course the Adineko sounds fantastic as well, seems much warmer than the Echorec. I sold my Echorec because my '90s EH Deluxe Memory Man made the Echorec sound terribly thin and digital in comparison. I so wanted to like it but it buffers the dry signal when engaged and sounded painfully digital. I will definitely try the Adineko!

@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 4 года назад
@@NuZTheRockerOFFICIAL - Well, the Dispatch Master is my all-time favorite pedal, so that probably means something ☺ But it would all depend on context, and what sound I wanted to achieve. They are completely different devices. Dispatch Master is for clean and warm ambience, and Adineko is for old-school warbly echoes.

Most of my pedals are more traditional (Flint, Aqua Puss, Phase 90 [ya' gottahave one of those]). I basically discovered, watched a few more vids and just ordered it (that's NOT something I can do - Haha:). It can sound anywhere from beautifully terrible to terribly beautiful. If a song calls for a weird effect of any kind this pedal ALWAYS makes for an incredible, and effective substitue. I don't even see it as a delay.It'smore of a Reverb, Vibrato..."thing"...with a pulse! :) You demo it very well,but highlight as more of an ambient effect. I love that b/c I've never used it that way. I use it for "busier" playing so it should be noted that it's only compliments all forms of playing (and stacks w/ everything). I look forward to exploring your more ambient approach! A demo and a guitar lesson!? The only answer to that is SUBBED. I love how you don't just riff mindlessly. Your playing is very meaningful and places purpose over ego. I look forwardto your future vids! P.S - Try using it playing slide. ;)

@@thepedalzone yeah, I just dont think I've ever had a pedal where so much space on the dials isn't usable. Both the self oscillation and the vibrato effects are way over the top. It's probably one of the best slapback sounds available tho as well...I've been running it at 18 volts, and I havent tried running it at 9 volts...I've used it in the line and in the effects loop too....does yours make a subtle little whine sound when you turn it on?

Olav Christensen - Thanks, man! Nothing beats a nice Fender amp and guitar, plus the Fairfield Circuitry Accountant Compressor tops it all off with its dash of shimmery goodness :) No, the pedal isn't TRS enabled. It just sounds huge when you begin to up the feedback, which creates this immersive cascading reverberation. It's quite unique :)

Okay so nobody ever uses overdrive with this pedal. Is it impossible or is it just beside the point?
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 4 года назад
It’s kinda besides the point. At least for me. The demo is about the Adineko and its core sounds. On top of that, this channel is very minded indeed ambient effects, so I don’t use overdrive that often. But of course it will sound nice with overdrive. You’ll be hard pressed to find digital delay devices that won’t sound great with overdrive 👍
@ReddNashe
@ReddNashe 4 года назад
@@thepedalzone right. Well see with my JTM45 I'm trying for that fuzzy low go 60s vibe. But I want this sound overdriven with tape like echo speed and tracking. I just don't see a video for that. What do you think? I guess to some it up what I'm looking for in this kind of delay effect is I pretty much want something like an re-201 with this ones sound low fi decay, distorted ambience. Does that make sense? Would it work like that?
