Rob's Perfect Suppressor - Which Doesn't Exist...Or Does It??? 

Both PTR and CAT are knocking it out of the park. On 5.56, The PTR Vent3, The CAT WB and CAT ODB are achieving RC2 levels of muzzle suppression or better while maintaining backpressure levels equivalent toto the FLOW762Ti and Velos LBP. been testing out the CATs myself and they are blowing my mind.

I shot the PTR at the Capitol Armory Silent at the hill event in March 2 of this year. I can confirm it is quite and lighter than the rest of the other ones. They do feel and look like toys. The texture gives this plastic feeling to the touch and the eye. Super pleasant to shot and the sound reduction is movie quality!

Looks like others have already said it but the CAT WB sounds like it’s the best balance of everything you want in a Can

Flash signature ....most important thing to me. It is also of note that he used the word "gaseous", which, of course means that he scored well above average on the verbal portion of the SAT. I'm pretty confident we can believe this guy…

I think the SICO Velos is the one to beat. The top 4 need to be put to the test to see which one delivers the overall package between back pressure, sound, and flash.

Please be sure to ask ptr about cleaning. The "sponge" material seems like it would easily/quickly fill with carbon and be difficult to clean.

I have an SRBS from B&T on order and I am excited to give it a try.

I think flash suppression and/or IR signature reduction should be considered as important attributes, since some users have suppressors as part of an NV setup.

I'd be interested to see a quick video, or short or just a reply if the answer is easy enough, of any correlations between the suppressors internal design (baffles, monocore or flow through) and what each excells in and struggles in (sound reduction, back pressure, weight ect.). Some are pretty obvious like flow through, but just curious if you see any other patterns and even if the is a front runner overall that the suppressor industry will be gravitating towards in the future? It's really cool to see manufacturers doing other things with suppressors besides, what someone else termed, "chasing decibels". Additive manufacturing (3D printing) has really changed the game in a way to give us the benefits of both low BP and sound suppression, while also lowering the cost since core and baffle design doesn't require complex machining but also encouraging advanced flow designs.

The Polonium K is 4.8", making it much shorter than the B&T. Maybe youre thinking about the full size Polonium at 5.8"? Enjoying the content

Let me know if I’m wrong, but as someone researching for his first suppressor & going on nearly a year of research, I’m discovering what’s most important depends on what caliber I’m trying to suppress. Flash signature is another factor, but that might make this too complicated, so… 5.56 - 1.Back pressure; 2.Weight; 3.Sound; 4.Length Going to be the loudest no matter what, so might as well not be uncomfortable to the eyes, nose and arms too. 300 AAC - 1.Sound; 2.Length; 3.Back pressure; 4.Weight The whole point is quiet and compact. Not worried if it weighs a few more ounces since it’s not as far from the body (I.e. shorter barrel). 9mm/PCC - 1.Sound; 2.Weight; 3.Length; 4.Back pressure Mostly the same as 300 AAC, needs to be quiet and compact. But with less points of contact (Handgun) needs to be lighter. Not worried about back pressure, so long as it’s enough. All Bolt guns - 1.Sound; 2.Sound; 3.Sound; 4.Sound Need I say more?

Why you haven’t take in consideration the CGS SCI SIX? It is a really good balance suppressor. I understand there are better suppressors out there but I would love to see your take in that can in particular

It's odd to me that the AR community has overlooked the Tbac Dominus. Tbac dropped the HUB dominus but they have the HUB magnus. The SR is arguably the best mount and retains accuracy. Edit: I love the supressor content, could you also do some gas block content?

Dear Rob Have you considered considered making a matrix of back pressure versus decibel reduction? That way if you have to change the back gas on a suppressor, but it gives you better decibel reduction, you can make that value decision. One step further would be to also add in weight for a three variable matrix. Is there a way to contact you without leaving a comment like this?

It's true we tested the PTR suppressor for 9x19mm and 7.62, at SHOT Range Day, and they are Hollywood quiet! Prepare to be surprised

AAC Ranger 5 mini is a .556 at 4.98 inches. HUB compatible.

Have you tested the SilencerCo Velos LBP? They also have a newer LBP 556k- can size.

I’d really appreciate you doing some flash suppression analysis with all your cans! That’s personally what I find important with a suppressor and finding a balance of low back pressure and great flash suppression (fully expecting to sacrifice some sound/weight/something else) but I have no idea who leads in that department based on some research

Surefire says the rc3 has 60% less back pressure.

CAT suppressors is what meets all your needs.

How do you clean a PTR?

Silencer Syndicate really needs to invest in a sound meter. I think people would be shocked at just how loud some of the flow through cans really are in comparison to a good conventional baffle suppressor.
