Roger's two guest segments are preceded by an Act 1 driving-home story and an Act 2 Top Ten list. After his appearance is a music trivia follow-up with a quick shot of Barbara Gaines running away.
Roger Moore was Bond through my entire childhood and most of my teenage years. He is Bond to me. I think that he best represents Bond's class and suave.
Love Roger Moore, I was in England when He passed, I'm from Laredo,Texas and grew up watching The Saint & 007,Love Him R.I.P. will mess Sir Roger Moore
We'll never see anymore on screen great actors like Dalton, Moore, and Connery who thrilled the audience with their enormous talents, charm, wit, class and sophistication. Nowadays we see nothing but eye candy, muscular six pack abs individual who lack acting abilities but called themselves actors.
He was my favourite Bond. People say he played it for laughs, but it was just an acknowledgement of how ridiculous the movies were. Bond, The Saint, The Persuaders. Loved them all!
Its funny watching these now bc you really get a sense of why we are where we are now..if theres ever someone to indistinctly portray that there are 2 classes of citizen its roger moore
"I was having a kidney polished". So great. It's fun when he does the Tony Curtis impression and Letterman really appreciates that (probably having interviewed Curtis before).
The thing I remember about Roger was how quick he was. We were having dinner with a friend whose girlfriend was Russian. But she then mentioned that her father was Russian admiral. Roger , without missing a beat, said “ Quite a butterfly then”. It was a few seconds before we got it....
I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond in the 70s and 80s. The spy who loved me,Moonraker,For your eyes only,Octopussy with the mesmerizing opening song themes, great childhood memories.Rogers Bond movies were entertaining with humor, gadgets etc he was every boys idol back then.
He had the same problem I have........KIDNEY STONES!!! He had to stop filming on a few of his Bond Films because of sudden stone attacks. I understood his pain!!! RIP 007
The Spy Who Loved Me was the first Bond movie i ever saw. It is still my Bond benchmark for romance, cool action ideas and a tutorial on how to behave in any circumstance. But those suits.... maan Roger Moore was a fashion model for freakin all kinds of suits.
Very good friends with David Niven, which is no surprise, as they were cut from the same cloth. Those qualities of being impeccably dressed, with being able to be self-deprecating and have lovely manners unfortunately don't seem to be respected so much nowadays.
The Dark Blue Blazer 2 bottons the French shirt the Silky Tie and the trouser and the black Shoe : definitely a man with a classy chic High elegance, RIP My Sir Roger Moore
He was 57 during filming of A View To A Kill his final appearance during 1984-1985 as James Bond and had turned 58 when retired from playing James Bond officially.
My aunt did! When Roger was very young. My aunt and her friend won a competition in England and part of the prize was lunch at one of the studios with him I have a photo of the three of them together with a large cheque, don't know what that was for. I was about 16 and I remember being very jealous as I was a huge fan of Roger as The Saint. Long before his fame as Bond.
I remember that fare war in the summer of '92. I was working at American Airlines that year and it was Northwest (which we don't have anymore) who started the fare war when they had their "Adults fly free with one child" promo. Calls were coming in 24/7 one after the other at the reservation centers. One victim of that fare war was that Braniff Airlines III went out of business after just one year of operations.
Thank you so much for posting this. I remember watching it originally, I believe on 3rd June, 1992, and taping it. Glad it is around for posterity now as I lost the tape!
You expect a bad ass lead actor like a James Bond to be a little more serious and guarded. Roger Moore was hardly that. Carefree, whimsical even. Generous and self effacing. Shows what a good actor he really was. I always thought Sean Connery was the best partly because he was the first. But Roger Moore made a great Bond as well. Funny and ironic. Brought a new dimension to the character. Loved seeing Moonraker at the theater as a kid. Obviously a wonderful man.
"Sean Connor"?!!! C'mon, research dept.! I think Roger, having just corrected Dave over the number of Bond films he'd appeared in, just couldn't correct him again so soon!
