Rolling Stones | The Stones Feature Film that Never Was 

These Yesterday's Papers videos are surprisingly very good. Lots of unseen film footage of The Rolling Stones when they were at their peek powers as a young group. Also lots of this information I'm unfamiliar with. Too many times one see's the same old information over and over again.

That's absolutely brilliant, you can enjoy the "A Clockwork Orange" movie and at the same time imagine the Stones in the role of the gang.. Also Malcolm McDowell does resemble Mick Jagger..

Great content (photos, videos, articles). Everything is very well researched. Loved seeing a glimpse of Brian's home in that drawing. Found the original Altham article on Rock's Back Pages but only the text. This channel is the best source for blasts from the past!

What's odd is that when Kubrick cast the parts in Clockwork Orange the droogs did sort of resemble the Stones. Malcolm McDowell looked a little bit like Mick, one of the others looked like Keith, and Warren Clarke, who played Dim, was a dead ringer for Brian.

Excellent vid! I read that CLOCKWORK ORANGE almost was made with Ken Russell directing the Stones! Wow!

Another great video with footage I'm sure most of us have never seen. I always look forward to watching them! Keep up the great work, my friend. Your approach to this beautiful time in history is so tender. A time that obviously won't ever be repeated but I sometimes feel as if I'm there, soaking up the atmosphere.

Very good video and informative ...I think on the whole its probably a good thing the stones film never happened...I honestly cannot imagine any of them, back then (other than Mick) taking direction and delivering their lines with any conviction. It would at best have been a bit of a joke for teeny fans only...like The Dave Clarke Five , Hermans Hermits etc....the Stones did not have the jolly Beatley repartee to carry a star-vehicle and it would have had to rely heavily on post-production to make it of any note...

2013's Only Lovers Left Alive is a very cool movie. And Tom Hiddleston is a big Stones fan, he's said he's pictured his Marvel character Loki as a DJ in the 70s playing Sympathy for the Devil. ;D

I read the book as a high school freshman, 1964, from the school library. My dad, associate superintendent of county schools and director of special ed, gifted and talented programs, assistant pastor, Sunday School director, and choir director, saw it and sampled it. He was paranoid and appalled by the book, had it removed from the high school library. Hehehe...what a square.

Back then I would have gone to see it the film and during every scene that didn't have the Stones in it I would have thrown jujubes at the screen.

I had heard about the Mick Jagger as Alex thing, but I didn’t realize it originally would’ve had the other Stones as his Droogs!! As fascinating as this sounds, I’m glad we got Kubrick and Malcolm McDowell in the end. Clockwork O is one of my FAVORITES ever!

Well, I can attest that Nicholas Roeg's film "Performance," starring Mick Jagger, James Fox, and Anita Pallenberg, is a very fine cinematic work of art, and Mick's acting in it is quite brilliant.

7:52 Mick Jagger did eventually agree to be assassinated in a movie of which he was the star. In "Performance" he is taken captive by a wayward Cray-brothers-esque gangster, and is eventually shot.

Can you do a special documentary on The Rolling Stones' last photo session which was shot by Ethan Russell May 21,1969. One oif the pics graced the Through The Past Darkly (Big Hits Vol.2) album, released on September 12,1968, which was dedicated to memory of Brian Jones.

I seem to recall that there was talk at one point about Mick Jagger starring in an adaptation of Gore Vidal's novel, Kalki.

In the end Andrew produced ‘ Charlie Is My Darling’ instead.

A stones film would have been great

I remember borrowing and reading this book from the library in my town when I was a teenager. I thought the plot was interesting, even if the book had some minor faults.

Im a huge fan of this channel , great job Yesterdays papers , and Allen klein oens the rights to early stones , they fought to get that back but they never did, klein was a real shady business MAN and also stole the rights to sam COOKE music , the late singer was going to sue Klein but Cooke ended up dead under weird circumstances, Klein is a real nasty person , SMH

Es gab sogar damals (um 67/68) eine sehr ernst gemeinnte Projektidee von Paul McCartney und Mick Jagger, das sich "Mother Earth" nennen sollte, und eine Art Haus sein sollte mit Tonstudio, wo Künstlerisch begabte Menschen gefördert werden sollten. Diese Autorität, die solche Megastars wirklich bei jungen Menschen damals hatten, wollte er in dieser Filmidee umsetzen.

Since the Stones seemed to copy musically from the Beatles at times, I always wondered why they never came out with a feature film. I’m not sure if a Stones movie would’ve been any good. Outside of Mick Jagger, I don’t think any of the others had enough screen presence and personality for a film. Trying to do comedy like the Beatles would probably not have worked with the Stones.

Well the film Ned Kelly certainly proved how top notch Mick's acting skills were. That's sarcasm folks.

Too bad about Nick Ray. From 1949 with They Live By Night to 1961 with The Savage Innocents he was one of America's finest directors. Would have been interesting to see what he would have done and it certainly would be more entertaining than Godard's One Plus One (and I'm a big Godard fan)
