I’ve got that exact bike. I recommend the 16T front sprocket. Plenty of power for normal riding and overtaking. 70mph no problem. Top speed? No idea and don’t care. High flow air filter and high flow slip ons will net about another 5-6 hp. Have fun! Ride safe.

I’m of a certain age (63), been riding all my life - still not brilliant at it!!!!! My point is in recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to own the obligatory 1200gs, Rocket 3 and Tiger 800 and have done extensive touring around Europe. Now, I was losing my love of bikes until I hopped on an Interceptor. You know what, I love my mark 2 - you just get on it and go! No electronic goodies to speak of - if you can ride you don’t need them anyway, AND………. You can work on them yourself and accessories are relatively cheap! Never had so much fun all round since my FS1E some 30 years ago plus. It’s also a damn sight more comfortable than my Ducati Monster. Taking it down to Tuscany in September, and can’t wait!

I agree, nice to have simple bike smiles every ride and easy to maintain yourself. However I’ve heard the interceptor needs many valve checks and not sure how difficult those are to do yourself.

@@MOTOUK1 Good point. I’m going to try and do it myself, haven’t done it yet, but I believe you can get the rocker cover off without removing the tank (although it’s a fairly simple remove).

Whilst £6,500 is cheap for brand new bike (£10 per cc), it's cheap for a reason. It's A2 compliant at the max' (47bhp). Clearly it isn't aimed at the younger riders who can't wait to get off such machines & onto something that is a threat to their life. It's aimed at fella's like myself. Knocking on 60 & tired of chucking powerful bikes around or want a semi-retired reintroduction to their youth. It bores me to tears just looking at it. As we all know; £6,500 can get some very nice used bikes that 'can' excite a rider if they find themselves in the mood.

Hi Nick & great review… With the full Saddlebag set-ups now available from such as Trip Machine the Interceptor is more than capable of touring (in fact, with the ability to conduct a full service using simple basic tools I think it’s more confidence inspiring than most). Of course there are bikes specifically made for touring but totally agree that the best rides for the Interceptor are on the sunny days bumbling around those Country lanes.

The T120 is a T120. I'm a new rider and the interceptor got me in the door and I absolutely love it. I think the one thing the interceptor has got over the T120 is home serviceability. It has barely any electronics and simple mechanics. It also leaves plenty to tinker without fear unlike a T120.

Over 32,000 miles on my 2019. Only warranty work was the speedo sender went erratic and the infamous short battery life of barely 9 months. What counts as real quality is the engine/transmission. My last valve adjustment was really at 12,000 miles. Checking at 18and 24k found them perfectly in spec. At 30k I barely adjusted one valve. The seat is medieval comfort i.e. NOT. Bought a Corbin seat made here in California for an exorbitant price but it's very well made. I've ridden up to 10,232 ft and over 115F in the desert. It won't idle at traffic lights at that temperature but then neither will I. It handles mountain roads extremely well. I'm grinding both pegs, shift and brake levers and once the exhaust pipes.

I'm one of those who never bought into the RE Interceptor hype . I found it felt quite cheap to ride and it certainly looks very budget in many areas, I just could not see the "bargain" it was supposed to be. Now the price has crept up it's even more hard to justify . To me a bargain bike is one you would happily pay a higher price for. Despite being very different, bikes like the new Hornet at £6999 with twice the performance and far superior Japanese build and component quality the Interceptor now looks VERY expensive in comparison! ... It's a huge price to pay for classic looks. The Triumph's are overpriced too but are in another league to the RE in every way , I know which I'd spend my money on.
@MOTOUK1
@MOTOUK1 Год назад
I kinda disagree as for a classic looking bike I don’t think it’s overpriced. I agree the build quality could be better. It’s a shame as the bike looks great, just some parts let it down. Agree the hornet is a great value bike but it’s not a classic looking bike. I also don’t think triumphs are over priced for what you get and quality of the bike. Just look at other brands, Ducati new Multistrada is now £27,644 which is mental. Now for £6,5k you can have your pick if you look at a second hand bike. TBH prices are rising a lot at the moment and even I see the second hand bike market rising. Love hearing everyone’s opinions, we all have our own. 👍 thanks for tuning in David

Mind you, you could spend about 3k pounds on after market accessories and that will bring the quality up to scratch.

Good to see you on a RE Nick. For me I have always thought a lot of the cepter. Basic raw biking..... Although the BSA for me is more enjoyable to ride,, BUT it dosent have the bang for buck finish of the cepter. That being said, I would have a intercepter over A T 100, only because the cepter is not so over refined so had a little more character. As you know though.... All good bikes. Will you be expanding on why it's only suitable for bimbling around or commuting, not touring, in your final review? Do you feel the same about the T120? I flip and flop between the bonnies (maybe an old 865), the street twin and the interceptor (especially with the new tubeless rims). The drawback for me is the max payload of the interceptor, whereas the triumphs are all above 210kg max payload. Plus the upswept exhaust reducing the pannier options. but the price... and I loved the engine on the GT I had as a loaner. I look forward to your final review.👍

It isn’t as refined, but that’s it’s appeal to me. I have ridden the Goldstar, (riding it again Tuesday morning, as the dealer has asked me to take it for an extended review, in dry weather), and it doesn’t compare to the Interceptor in my opinion.
