The worst thing about the Turpin case is that 6 of the saved children were sent to awful foster homes run by other monsters who abused them all over again. They have a case against the government I hope they get millions

There are mothers out there living in poverty who would, and do, go to extreme measures to get food to their hungry children. A typical mother would do almost anything to keep her children from starving. The fact that these monsters intentionally withheld food from these kids while living their lavish lifestyles makes me so sick.

I honestly believe, and it makes me feel so sick to my stomach, that if Russell had been caught climbing out of the window, he wouldn't have survived the punishment 😞

Bonnie herself is problematic. If you go through her older videos she was so mean to her daughter, I had to stop watching her. This was years ago. I no longer watch family vloggers. But Bonnie would punish her daughter for nail biting and picking her skin. The "Ear piercing at Claires" video is so telling of Bonnie. You can see her reflection and body language in the window of Claires, and then her facial expressions while holding her daughter in her lap to get her daughters ear pierced. And telling her daughter to stop being naughty for these ladies that are trying to pierce her ears. Shes horrible. She too needs to be investigated!

That little boy is a hero !! I hope whoever who is taking care of him now is telling him that!!!

The two of them being held without bail says a lot!! They are looking at some major prison time which is well deserved.

(Not-So-Fun) Utah Family Vlogger Fact-- Jodi's house (that the kid escaped from) borders the town Not Enough Nelsons live in. Thankfully he didn't end up at their house, where instead of help, they'd film taking him to The Red Lobster to get "The Talk". (Fittingly, Jodi's property line abuts to the unincorporated section of Utah named Hellhole. This whole section of the state is still polygamy-rich. You go to Costco and see groups of women with Little House on the Prarie outfits and hair. Its close to former Warren Jeffs compound and area the Kingston clan lives in. Lots of fundamentalists still trying to hold on to the Brigham Young 'good old days'.

Jodi having a panic room makes perfectly sense in her and Rubys twisted logic. They hated and were scared of pretty much everything, even Christmas movies were dangerous in their books, any normal action like going to the saloon, reading a book or watching a moovie now became, as they call it, distorted. Ruby slowly isolated herself and her children more and more. By now they had probably decided that every single person outside their cult was dangerous and they were ready to move into that room. Also the location of the house gives is a hint. The boy saved himself and his sibilings at the right time.

As a mom, I don't understand how you can treat a child/let a child who you felt grow inside of you and gave birth to be treated this way. It is unfathomable.

What scares me is that the children wouldn't have survived if none of them escaped and got help. It sounds like they were close to death! Those poor kids. Ruby is insane! This could've been avoided if something was done much earlier!

Josh, you might find this interesting... The Turpin couple, that severely neglected and abused their 13 kids, had wanted their own reality TV show. Apparently they even intentionally had more children, in hopes that it would help them achieve this. The details of this case, including the aftermath of what happened to the kids, is absolutely horrific. Although they didn't find the fame they were hoping for, it really goes to show how dangerous it is, to have these platforms that go unchecked. Essentially, they become pretty attractive for those that are willing to sacrifice their children's privacy and well being, for money.

Unfortunately, Reddit and TikTok is FILLED w people praising the sisters, calling them heroes, hoping the kids end up w them and commenting how much they love them. “Thank good for them.” “We are aligned with them.” “I always loved them.” It’s disgusting. People need to wake up

I think it’s important to remember that a panic room is locked from the INSIDE. The officer seemed to be sceptical and that’s why he was making sure to describe that this room had a “Fort Knox door or safe on it”. These kind of doors lock from the OUTSIDE.

I am from Utah, and it is widely known that CPS doesn't help or follow through. We can't rely on them to help out they ignore reports and if they do visit often nothing comes of it.

From my understanding of all dispatch audio and reading the articles. R ran to the neighbors, neighbors called the cops when the cops realized how bad he was and he needed medical attention ASAP. They took him to the hospital and either right before he left or on his way they asked him if there were any other kids in the house. And he said yes E. So then they needed the search warrant. So I think that’s probably when Jodi pulled up and called Ruby, Ruby headed to the hospital but couldn’t get to R so then she made her way back to the house as they were waiting for the search warrant or in the process of searching. That’s when the cop said the mom is approaching the house. The cop did say there is a big wheel lock on the outside of that panic room. But I don’t think they had found E yet at that point. I really pray whoever has the kids is taking the best possible care of them. Every meal I’ve cooked today for my family I just can’t stop thinking about R & E and I hope they don’t get placed with family.

As someone raised amongst the Mormons, I agree with you about the vested interest the church has in the PR. However, based on their behavior with Vallow and other high profile criminal cases involving Mormons, once an indictment comes down they distance. They won't go to bat for her. Not a chance.

As a former Victim Advocate with the State Attorney Office, they will do time for some of the charges. I hope they do time for all charges.

As a child abuse survivor, this absolutely breaks my heart. These women better do big time in jail. Here's hoping that the American system uses these women to make a point. In nz I know there is no statute of limitations on child abuse allegations. Im unsure if its the same in the us, but it would mean she could absolutely be held accountable for previous abuse/neglect

My mother in law has been a HUGE part of this “cult” for years. Even though my therapist husband has told her how toxic it is. She’s in the face book group and is ACTIVELY defending them right now on there. It’s insane.

I hope she gets NO Mercy from the judge/jury. She gave no mercy to her children and choices have consequences.

Josh. My son was almost killed by his first mother. He was bound, beat and starved. He was 21 pounds and 3.5 years old when he was found, spent 10 days in the hospital. The sheriffs that found him sobbed on the stand. The social workers sobbed. I testified about his healing (and how much weight he gained, etc.) His mother and grandmother did that to him at his mother’s house, for MONTHS. Grandma got NO punishment whatsoever and his mom was out of jail in 2 years 2 months and ~10ish days. Less than 3 years for beating my baby and more, locking him in a closet, and actively attempting to slowly kill him.

they need to make a franke childrens law or something to force police to go inside and investigate when a wellfare check is repeatedly called in or something that could save kids in similar situations sooner

It sounded like there might be more to the "panic room" by the officer being surprised and a bit disturbed sounding and saying it was like Fort Knox. Fort Knox is mentioned when someone is talking about a location or items security/lockdown ability. To me that sounds like it might be a room to lock up kids. Having a panic room is not unheard of but there was something about this one that wasn't normal by the sounds of it.

Definitely sounds similar to the Turpin case...tons of kids starved and chained in the house, one of them managed to climb out of the window 💔 I haven't been able to stop thinking about Russell having to get out of that window and go for help, truly heartbreaking

In an interview with "Good Morning America," Randy Kester, the attorney for Ruby's husband, Kevin Franke, said that Kevin had been separated from his wife for more than a year and denies any knowledge of the alleged abuse. But his sisters said in statement they new about the abuse for 3 years. How did the sisters know about the abuse and the father didn't? Are you sure about that?

I'm always late because of timezones (I live in Scotland) but I actually watched all your eight passengers videos maybe a couple of months ago before everything kicked off now. I'm glad Ruby and Jodi have been arrested and charged, but it makes me so angry that the abuse of these kids went on for years, and no one stepped in until the kids were being starved and tied up. And that's just the two youngest. I hope Ruby faced charges for the other four children, because from what I've heard, the way she treated the oldest son was terrible even before this. What I want to know is why was it allowed to escalate to this extent? I've heard things about how she took away her oldest son's door and bed and sent him to a wilderness camp. Surely the police and CPS should have stepped in when this was happening, not now when the two youngest were emaciated, malnourished, starving, duct taped and tied up. I dread to think what could have happened had the boy not managed to escape or even worse, had been caught escaping. Those poor kids could have ended up dead. The only good thing to come from this is that they are alive. But I want to know where the father was in all of this. But from something I read on the reddit thread where another man talked about Jodi and the effect she had on his ex wife, which resulted in him not being allowed to see his kids, being kicked out of college, exiled from the church and ended up in jail. It makes me wonder if something like that happened to Kevin (minus the jail part) I don't know if you've brought it up in this video as I'm like five minutes in, but it was just very interesting to me. Jodi obviously has some very deep connections that she was able to essentially destroy his entire life. He said something about posting emails from Jodi, so I hope he does. This doesn't excuse Kevin as he was still complicit in allowing his children to be abused by Ruby. But there are some very obvious similarities. From the limited information we have, Jodi obviously follows a pattern of isolating the mother and children from the husband/father.

The turpin family is a very very strong and horrible case to uncover. Family house of horrors I believe it was dubbed. The children were abused, malnourished, tied up for years and years. Until one daughter decided to get help. The body cam footage is hard to watch. She seemed so young compared to her age. Their vocabulary was that of a 1st 2nd grader bc they weren’t provided an education. Then to top it off, after they were placed in foster care they were yet again abused and failed by the system. They try and try to flourish even against all of the shit that has been placed in their path. These kids deserved better than what life has given them and I hope to gd they get everything they are owed and have only the best type of life and future

Josh, From what I gathered in the police recording you played, the panic room was at Rubys house. The police said they believed "they" (kids) were in there. So, is it possible the other kids were in the panic room. I think Ruby was arrested while walking up to her own house, the kids were already at the hospital at that point so the police were probably trying to locate the remaining kids. I also wonder if Ruby placed the kids in the panic room when she would go away all the time.

I mean it makes sense they thought they would get away with it. CPS and cops were already called & nothing was done. That probably made them even more bold. We see it over and over again where abuse is reported & children are failed by the system. Then you see innocent parents have their kids taken, when those resources could be going to the abused children who actually need it. Such a messed up system. The fact that he had to save himself is heartbreaking. I hope they’re being surrounded by so much love right now.

There is no way Kevin should have custody of the kids. He is just as guilty as Ruby and Jodi.

I can, somewhat, understand from the aunt’s point of view. My mother & I have called CPS & police for well checks on my niece. We’ve spoken to attorneys. We were told that there was nothing we could do legally. Because she was my sister & denying us access to my niece, there was nothing they could do. CPS put a “family plan” in place & said there were a few things that were concerning to her. After multiple calls to the CPS case worker, to get updates on this “family plan,” she told us that everything is getting closed out & just because my sister doesn’t parent like we think she should, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. WTH?! Then why was she placed on a family plan?! This is in Texas. When I was going through my own custody battle with my kids Dad, they came home with whelps & bruises on their bodies, at 3yrs old, by their step mom. CPS told me, unless my son was hospitalized or dead, there wasn’t much they could do…a family plan.

Earlier, when I mentioned the Turpins and comparing, I wasn't saying it's not similar, infact I was one of the first people on Thursday mornings live who mentioned it. What I was trying to say in chat was to the people saying the Turpins had it worse. It's not a contest of who had it worse, and we don't even have the full details of the Franke situation yet....saying one is worse is minimizing this current case with the Franke children. Which is harmful and hurtful to the victims. This isn't some sick contest. Child abuse is horrific PERIOD!!! These two cases are very similar, and that's horrible enough. 😢 I'm so glad I had a planned appointment with my Psychiatrist today, bc this has triggered my own childhood traumas...and he helped me talk about it...but what's sad, is even he was horrified at the details about this current case. 😢

Sadly, as someone in the legal profession, my guess is they make a plea and on a good day would get 10 to get the kids to 18. What I do hope is the guardian for the kids files suit agains the authorities who dropped the ball and these kids have the resources to get help, grow up and persue their educational goals. It will be interesting if the LDS church tries to distance from her. We took custody of a young LDS girl decades ago when we discovered the church was covering up abuse ans handling “I’m the church” they messed with the wrong mamma and I used it to our advantage to take custody of her. No relation. They fear public negative PR more than anything else.

I just pray that TRUE justice is fully served to those and everyone who knew of ANY abuse and didn’t speak up. I pray that those women or anyone else didn’t do any further harm to those kids. I almost don’t want to know what happened to them but I do so I can see these ppl rot!

I would be very surprised if they do much jail time. I have a case where the Mom locked the kids in their bedroom, one child was chained to the bed, and they were all malnourished. The child chained to the bed has autism and escaped to ask neighbors for food. The kids were “homeschooled” also so they weren’t seen in the community. Anyway, the mx was arrested but got out on bond and never spent anymore time in jail. We recently terminated the parents’ rights… but no jail time. I have many other cases with severe abuse and neglect where parents have been arrested, but don’t ever end up doing time. It’s beyond frustrating and ridiculous.

I just watched shiny happy people , this family sounds like they followed a lot of those practices.. so sad, i hope those kids can heal, get past their trauma and live happy lives .

From the description of "Liberty Safe" on the door, my guess is that is a secure door for a room that they store guns/valuables inside. I've seen rooms like that build in houses in states like Wyoming...where people tend to have a lot of guns (the guns/resident in Wyoming is super high).

This is so sad. Utah has televised other trials so I think this one will too. I don’t know if it will get that far though. They may plead it out to protect the kids.

The way you speak of the sisters with such hatred in comparison to the way you speak of Kevin baffles me. He is the ONLY other individual who had the legal right to get those children out of that situation. Kevin absolutely needs to be in jail.

That one recording said “custodial parent” which typically means the one that has legal custody. They could be saying it to protect identity but Kevin could also not have had access to the children if she was actually the custodial parent…still no excuse but we have seen where custody and legal red tape has caused children to be trapped in unsafe environments…

When we were looking for houses a few years ago, we toured a home with a panic room in the basement. It was a nice, finished basement and all of a sudden the realtor starts opening a bookshelf. It must have been a panic room light, because the door didn't seem that heavy duty, unless I missed something, but it was totally hidden. My husband said the equipment in the room was for making bullets, so I wondered if they used it as an armory, but has hidden all the 🔫 It was crazy.

I truly hope they are hit with full force of the law and make an example out of them. And I hope and pray the kids are placed somewhere safe, far far away from the crazy family.

Because of how HORRIFIC the crimes are against these children, the fact that they have no criminal history should have absolutely no bearing on how light the sentence is. If someone is caught stealing or in possession of drugs where the only person they're hurting is themselves then I can understand a judge considering the fact that someone has no criminal record, BUT this is extreme child abuse that could've eventually lead to their DEATH and a horrible and painful death at that. You're absolutely right that we can only imagine the horror she would've inflicted on that child if they got caught escaping. My aunt and uncle who were wealthy had a panic room in their house but they didn’t use it as one. Their kids used it as a secret playhouse. You had to open it through a bookshelf so it really was like a secret room and honestly pretty cool. I think they’re more common in larger, expensive homes
