So, let me see if I got it right. At 5 no lunch, at 7 no Christmas, at 12 no friends, at 14 no bed, at 15 no bathroom door. Thank you , "coach" Ruby.

As a big sister I would’ve been mortified if I had to open my Christmas presents in front of my little siblings while they got nothing!

I would NEVER do this to my son. Ruby is a sadist. "Merry Christmas, kids. This year you're getting trauma."

I had a “visceral” response to her, I actually feel sick and heartbroken for her kids. The word LOVE wasn’t said once by her. Her kids need love.

I love chad. Once he has complete independence he will be a complete disappointment to them yet such a blessing to the rest of the world.

My mother and I had a fight around one of my birthdays (I think 15) and she didn't talk to me for weeks. When my birthday came, she didn't say a word to me and didn't give me a gift or acknowledge me at all. I am 35 now and I still have not forgiven her or forgotten it. No child should be ignored or love withheld on birthdays or Christmas, etc. It is cruel and just builds hatred and walls between a child and a parent. I don't remember what the fight was about, I didn't learn any lessons, all I learned is that my mother is not a great mother and that I was not worthy enough for her to step over her ego, even on my birthday.

Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing good enough as a mom, and then I watched this so never mind 🤣

What worries me is this If she admits to doing this on her vlogs.. online to thousands people ? .. what does she do that we don’t know about ??? It has to be so so so much worse in real life ?

Whatever her kids did that was “so bad”, was probably actually nothing at all and you know she already punished them anyway. Taking away Christmas is just kicking them when they’re already down.

Thing is, it's going to hurt the other children too in their beings, watching their younger siblings without. I have three girls, 4, 7 and 9. They would be heart broken in this instance watching their siblings go without. They wouldn't enjoy their own gifts for knowing the others are without, they would end up sharing their own gifts out. This is so so terrible and mentally destroying on all the children involved.

She makes me want to adopt her children, brainwash them to forget the trauma, and re-raise them in a loving environment.

As a teacher this is the biggest reason why I always try to give my students love. If one of my students asks for a hug I always try to return it. We have no idea what children are going through at home and if they turn to their teachers for love it may be the only time they receive it. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear à mom speak like this.

I have a 15 year old son who has been difficult to say the least. He got expelled fr school and got suspended twice at his new school. We pulled him out and he has a full time apprenticeship as a mechanic and he loves it. I thought I was an awful mother for months because of the decisions he was making. Looking back it wasn’t even bad things just wrong ones. Did we take Christmas away? No! Because he was a kid who made mistakes. I still love him and I know he his going to be amazing

The greatest thing you can teach your kids is grace, forgiveness, and love.

Her younger kids probably don't really understand the concept of Santa not visiting. They will probably only realize it on Christmas morning, when they don't have anything to open, when their siblings do. This is emotional abuse. Disgusting.

To all of her fans saying “She’s raising her kids to be highly responsible and intelligent human beings for when they become adults” NO. When those children become adults they are going to have severe OCD and anxiety because of all the pressure that was put on them to be perfect and always well behaved to avoid the extreme punishments they would receive if they didn’t. I’m guaranteeing the reason they haven’t already gotten loads of CPS calls from people outraged and mortified by all of this is because they are afraid of their high priced lawyers that they would send after them if they reported.

The fact that she influences other parents makes me sick. This is the same lady that wouldn't bring her kid lunch when they forgot it at home. I can only imagine what those kids go through when the camera isn't on.

One year for Christmas my parents told my older sister and I that, for no apparent reason, that our 2 younger sisters would be getting more gifts than us that year. That was over 20 years ago and I still remember it every year. She seems to have this "they'll thank me one day" mindset and it's going to backfire. She's going to wake up one Christmas morning years from now and wonder why her living room is empty because her kids want nothing to do with her.

…and Ruby wants to be a “parenting coach”? 😳 That is alarming.

As someone who grew up on a strict home I can promise it's going to hurt her kids. I truly hope these kids move away for college! Like far away! Moving away helped me and my mom over the years but a lot of my anxiety is linked to how I was raised.

Her kids are "numb" because SHE made them that way. She wants them to feel pain, a mother saying that is disgusting. Keeping them home from school to clean how did she explain that one to the school? Their dad is just as bad allowing this to happen. And to think he's a professor. Their bad behavior at school is likely a reflection of their home life. 😢

Saw the video yesterday, and I was completely infuriated over it. So glad you're talking about it. It's so heartbreaking for the children to go through that, and no one should ever have to experience something like that, especially a child.

I too had my 8th birthday canceled, because my parents overheard me make a crude joke to my friends that I was totally ignorant to, and despite apologizing over and over I still had no party. I was told now as an adult by my mother that she had no idea what grace was while raising us, which makes a lot of sense given how strictly and void of compassion I was raised. I do my very best to break the cycle as I raise my son, and to humble and apologize to him when I realize my anger toward his actions was an overreaction. When you think your kids bad behavior is solely a reflection of your parenting skills, grace and unconditional love go out the window. Kids are are tiny people learning to be humans, they act the way we are inherently born, and it’s our job to graciously guide them. These are the circumstances scar you as a child, and they’re scars that never fully fade away.

Her 2nd most recent insta post is an ad for a "must have toy for your kids this holiday season" with the two youngest kids playing with it. Beyond disgusting that she profiting off them, especially after saying they won't be getting xmas presents.

Imagine a parent wanting her small kids to have a visceral experience at Christmas. It's crazy. She is fixated on punishment and making her kids feel "pain" for their behaviour. This isn't how you teach. You teach by example and by allowing logical consequences for bad behaviour. You also teach with love and respect. I totally agree with you Josh: bonding is the foundation for parenting. Shame and blame never motivate anyone. Christianity is about love and grace, but she is teaching her kids that God is mad at them....disgusting.

There are literally hours of footage proving her abuse and negligence! HOW DOES SHE STILL HAVE CUSTODY OF THESE KIDS?! And is there any way to get more information on what camp they sent their son to? I can only imagine what measures they use to keep "misbehaving teens" in line for months at a time.

There is a mom like this at my church. She has three boys all high school and middle school age. She is constantly punishing them for stupid things, like grounding the oldest for three weeks because she slipped on some ice and he didn’t catch her. He is my sisters age (17) and constantly says that he can’t wait to move far away for college and never come back. It’s sad.

I grew up LDS, and after I was baptized, I had such a weight on my shoulders over the decisions I made. I carried a lot of guilt and shame for years and years. This sounds like the type of LDS teachings I was brought up in. Luckily, my parents weren’t as strict, and crazy, but I felt it a ton from my leaders. This type of “punishment” is part of the religious trauma I’ve had to work through. I feel so so bad for these kids, I really do. I cannot imagine sitting around, Christmas morning, and watching all my siblings open presents, that is devastating. Ugh, it really breaks my heart.

One quote that comes to mind her is “The way you speak to your child becomes their inner voice.” At some point, if it hasn’t happened already, these kids are going to just accept that they are bad/selfish/whatever and will lose any motivation to change their behavior.

There's one thing about a family not being able to afford gifts but this is completely different and just cruel. How heartbreaking that on Christmas morning these two children have to watch their older siblings open gifts and just sit there with nothing. What a way to ruin a child's self worth. The pain of this will go further than that morning. They won't forget this.

She needs to accept that all her children are individuals and not a clone of her. She needs to set boundaries and have natural consequences to the situation. I am sure their behaviour is the result of their lifestyle.

That's totally stupid and evil. Thank goodness Ruby has finally been stopped of being able to abuse her kids anymore. That whole idea of the older kids getting presents but not the younger ones, that would make the older kids feel horrible to watch that the younger ones miss out. I wouldnt ever accept a present while others miss out, I rather give them my own gift instead.

Correction, school can be an escape for most kids in non-functional and abusive households. Keeping them home from school can be the worst because that means they are in a place they don’t feel comfortable in.

I’ve only been a parent for 6 months and I can’t even imagine considering doing this. Hearing the stuff she says actually makes me sick, I feel so bad for these kids. And she just puts this stuff out there thinking it’s totally normal and fine. She’s delusional.

She better change or else she will lose her kids forever. I grew up in a very toxic, borderline abusive family and I don't even want to talk to them. Trauma and bitterness are real. They may forgive her, but they will never forget how she made them feel.

I am not a parent but I am a teacher. I am routinely given the ‘bad’ kids… want to know why? Because they are successful in my room… why? Because RELATIONSHIP AND BOND IS ABOVE ALL ELSE in my classroom!! My bad kids are given more roles and responsibility and they thrive! Deprivation of love, respect, dignity… is NOT THE ANSWER to change someone’s behavior!

Growing up, my siblings and I were always punished for something. Over stupid little things too. The punishments were designed to hurt and isolate us, like no socializing after school, no games, tv, music, internet, reading, nor art. We were to come straight home from school, finished my chores (which took 3 hours to complete btw) and HW and "sit in the dark". This would go on for months at a time. My siblings self harmed and repeatedly ran away from home and I fell into a state of learned helplessness.

My stepdad did weird shit like this. Like if I left a plate out on the counter overnight I would get my tv taken away. Or one time I didn’t clean the blinds right and I couldn’t celebrate my best friend’s 16th birthday. I don’t speak to him anymore.

Idk about anyone else but I am a mother of two wonderful girls ages 10 and 17. Sure they have made mistakes but I have chosen to take a different approach than my own mother took with me. I listen, I have a conversation, I don’t get pissed if they get a bad grade but rather ask how can i help. I ALWAYS ask my children how can I help. Her children actions are a reflection of her 💩 parenting. I’m so tempted to send her children gifts.

My husband's mom would take his Christmas away as a punishment for coming home late or not washing the dishes. He left to live with his dad when he was 15 and hasn't spoken to her since. He's in his 30s now. That kind of punishment definitely does psychological damage.

My grandpa died at 88 and his sad story he still told the end was when his dad died and his mother told him "Santa doesn't come to kids with no dad" it stuck with him for 80 fkn years until the day he died and he still teared up saying it!

You've gone and made me cry! I didn't expect to have such a visceral reaction to her. We had a niece living with us for the first half of this year, and as the weeks went on, we realized that the parenting this teen received at home was like Ruby's. Abhorrent. The mom removed our niece from our home without warning after 5 months because we clearly "weren't doing enough" Yeah, okay whatever. (yes we got child protective services involved--though nothing came of it.) Relationship over output, every day of the week. Parenting isn't easy and I'm terrible at certain aspects of it, example consistency with chores, but at the end of the day, I want our kids to have a strong relationship with their family and be secure in knowing their individual worth.

With her it is not just what she does, but also how she does it. One of my kids said " I am inviting more friends to my party to get more gifts than you" . That year we had a no gift party. Grandparents and us still gave him our gifts, but he wasn't showered with gifts at his friend party. He still had cake, pizza and plenty of fun. I grew up with a step dad that yelled at me for not accepting free turns during game night. "You just can't accept grace". He then spent the rest of the evening pouting because I won anyway. Punishment is about learning, not pain and misery. She is a sadist. She could have limited privileges, candy, or screen time. Ps. Her kids love school because home sucks. Trust me I know.
