I've been a single mom, homeless, on welfare. Regardless of our circumstances, my kids have ALWAYS had a Christmas. Even if I had to write a book for them myself so they had something under the tree, there was always something. The entire point of gift giving is the act of giving... even when it feels like you have nothing. That is the magic of Christmas.

Trust me when your kids grow up they will always remember those moments. My dad would always try and give us at least one gift even if money was tight. I am an adult now and I still am so grateful for my dad who provided Christmas spirit even when we lived paycheck to paycheck.

Why didn't they just have their kids do a act of kindness like put together items for the homeless or make cookies for the neighbors and still give them gifts and just have loving discussions about putting others ahead of ourselves.

This would have been PERFECT for children who are acting "selfishly" (their words, not mine). You teach children that there are other people less fortunate than them. This will teach empathy, and that the world doesn't revolve around them.

My mother got wasted on Christmas eve when I was 11 and drove me around while drinking looking for a hotel to stay in after having a fight with her boyfriend. Instead of kicking him out of our house, she drove me around wasted while continuing to drink. That incident absolutely traumatized me, I am 41 years old and that is the most prominent memory I have of Christmas as a child. This stupid lady has no idea what will traumatize those kids.

@Jl Gavetti... My grandparents saved me, I probably wouldn't have survived my parents had it not been for them. In return I took care of them, because they deserved it. My grandfather passed away 1 month after I returned from my honeymoon, so we moved in to help my grandmother. It was the best thing I could have done, my son and my Mama had the most amazing bond! She suffered congestive heart failure and my little son would choose to help me wrap her swollen legs, take care of her and play in her room when she couldn't make it down the stairs any longer. I made sure she was cared for and safe and knew she was loved until the end. I'm so glad that you were happy and safe with your grandparents 🤗

I remember something a therapist said to me when I was pregnant and terrified I was going to mess my child up. She said “a child will believe what you say. If you say your child is bad, they will believe they are bad and they will act badly. If you tell your child they are good but made a bad decision, they will learn to not make bad decisions.” The children of these people are constantly put down. In reality, these are bad parents and I can promise that most, if not all, of their children won’t want anything to do with them as adults.

@andthehatter
@andthehatter 2 года назад
I am completely appalled. An 8 and 10 year old have what their parents believe is selfish behavior...look at who and what they're influenced by. When you have narcissistic, selfish parents you learn their behavior. Those children are probably terrified to do anything wrong, look at the history in their horrible home! There is no way they did something bad enough to warrant this.
@laramyholman7190
@laramyholman7190 2 года назад
Yes! It says a lot that they are having so much trouble with all of their kids. These parents likely never admit when wrong. If they are having so much trouble maybe they need to reflect on themselves and their parenting. You will get more from your children with love, kindness, and understanding than you will get from harsh punishment every time they do something wrong. It will also teach your kids to lie to you and never tell you anything.

This woman should consider why the thousands of people who’ve watched this family are the ones coming at the situation. It’s because it doesn’t take much watching to realize that nothing she’s done has benefited her children. They’re constantly in trouble, apparently bullies, and have other issues. If they truly are doing such awful things and it’s not just typical Childhood behavior, then the parents are to blame! They’ve had issues with every single child. There’s nothing positive about that.

I think they are missing a huge point that speaks to your channel’s point. Ruby chose to shame her children and share this with millions of people. She chose to tell everyone those kids come into contact with that they are not getting a Christmas because they were “bad.” It’s laughable that this counselor is complaining about being bullied online but fails to see that these kids were exposed by their parents in front of millions of people. Jesus saw children as INNOCENT! They could have taught their children to not be selfish by giving to other people. Going to their local food pantry and volunteering. Making sandwiches for the hunger. Adopting an angel from the salvation army tree at the mall. Or better yet, going through their toys and clothes they don't need and want anymore and donating it to kids who need it. They could have done so many other things to teach a lesson to their children. Instead of learning how to be a selfless person by giving to others, all the learned was that they need to "behave" or be "good" to get what THEY want.

I'm a licensed therapist and I couldn't tell you how many time I've seen this out of parents. The issue is that oftentimes parents like this often live in an echo-chamber. These kids will probably have an edition of religious trauma syndrome, which has similar side effects as PTSD. I've seen this with Mormons, JWs, and fundamentalist Christians. As a Christian, I have a problem theologically with this definition of "Grace." Also, a lot of licensed therapists are masters-level, not doctoral anymore...that's another story but that's the standard for therapists and social workers.

Maybe the kids are acting out because they are asking for help or just to be loved as they are, perfectly imperfect. They probably have so much pressure to be “perfect”. I know this from experience. Let me break it down for you in parenting terms that actually make sense: This consequence is not logical to their behavior. Therefore, these kids are learning how to behave so they will get presents, not learning the logical consequences of their actions. Not learning how to behave because it's the right thing to do. So, they are most definitely not learning empathy when the parents themselves aren't showing them any. The parents aren't showing them empathy, forgiveness, kindness, therefore, not showing them LOVE. This is just wrong on so many levels. To not understand the capacity of an eight and ten year old's brains, and why they misbehave the way they do is just negligent parenting, and negligent to keep having more kids. Eight and ten year old's misbehave because they are forming connections in their brains, and learning the consequences of their actions. So that they can make the right choices because they feel in their heart that it might be wrong to misbehave, not behaving so that they can get Christmas presents. SHAKING MY DAMN HEAD. Hey Ruby, read a damn parenting book that isn't the book of mormon, or get your tubes tied. PLEASE.

You know at first I was sorta feeling bad for Ruby because everyone from her side of the family cut ties with her, then as time went on I started to realize and see her true colors and now it make sense why all of her sisters and brothers and even her own parents cut her off. I just wish they would save the children, they don’t deserve the trauma Ruby is endorsing on those poor kids, that’s something years of therapy won’t be able to cure. I hope One of the kids find the courage to reach out to their grandparents or aunts & uncles to seek help because Ruby & Kevin are one of the most hated parents on RU-vid & maybe even Utah!

Its the fact that he is projecting his bs attitude and rotten nature on the kids. They need to know that children are a product of their parents, push push and push them and they'll just break, they will be so scared to make mistakes they will end up making all the mistakes, fo fucks sake they need to take psychology lessons, or go to therapy and explain their bs behavioir so they get educated just a little. Do you know i saw a video of theirs and her youngest daughter was asked ho she felt that her brother was going to school and she wasnt, and the little girl said she was jealous of her sibling, and ruby said yes thats right, confess and repent and all that, is this lady bat shit stupid? You can clearly tell the child has been trained to be this way or get punished, does ruby not know that if a child is denying jealousy they feel the emotion and its a very good thing for them to outwardly say theyre not so that if they verbally deny then they internally deny and jelous lessens by themselves, by making her confess orurging her to feel this way, she will feel resentment to her brother and sandess for herself. Ffs its like they force them to be a way then they punish them for being that way, fucking assholes.

Selflessness is a trait that can be taught. Kids are egocentric that’s normal, parents need to lead by example. I almost always reflect on myself when I am dealing with trouble behaviour. I have seen so many great examples of what they could have done instead that would teach the qualities they want to see. There’s a great book called the North Pole ninja- it emphasizes doing good deeds and even gives you a bunch to do over the holiday season (it can even be done all year around if you wanted). Imaginary gatekeeping in at least two cases. First: oh you see, the world equals consumerism with love and Christmas, we don’t do that. We are alienating the two from their siblings and call our punishment love. The second one: Poor families live in a Dickensen Novel and eat oatmeal at Christmas. And do they not love their children if they can’t afford any presents? Of course no one would ever confuse the lack of gifts with the lack of love. And again, he says alienating two of his children is the same as if an entire family can’t afford gifts. There is nothing wrong about by celebrating Christmas without gifts and make it a family event. But what they doing is, again, alienating two of their kids by making them the only one not receiving gifts, making the other kids feel shit about for getting gifts and maybe even play their children against each other. They are talking all over the place to distract viewers from what they’re really doing. Neither Kevin, nor Ruby, nor Judy want to be understood. They don’t want pushbacks and instead facing and reflecting their own decision and attitudes, they distract. They can’t even keep their reasons straight: We do it out of love; we want them to learn empathy; we want them to know that Christmas isn’t about gifts; we want them to learn responsibilities; they went to far and have to face consequences; their too selfish God Is Gray made a video about the abusive parents excuse „We did it out of love“. I can recommend it.

Kevin (the dad) says its about commercialism but yet the other 4 kids got gifts. And right before Christmas they went out and bought all new ornaments & decor... But why not make stuff or use what you had if it was about commercialism? They showed this on their own channel. Saying you don't like the commercialism and then your wife saying she wants her kids to feel pain is two different things. If they don't want their kids to be selfish then it starts at home. Who keeps kids home from school to clean? Also they blame Santa so the kids aren't upset with them. Great parenting.

Dad Challenge Podcast, just think about this: we give gifts on Christmas to symbolize the gift we received when Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice, was born. Jesus who was born to give us GRACE and MERCY despite our sins. Ruby and what's his face are directly doing the exact opposite of that. How they even rationalize that to themselves since they are such great Mormons I have no idea! This could have been a perfect teaching opportunity as parents to their kids about Jesus' sacrifice for the undeserving (all of us). Teaching opportunity missed! Epic parenting fail!

Get an elementary ed teacher to join you in an interview. Kids at that age are intentionally testing boundaries and that's why they misbehave. There on the cusp of being tweens and these two stellar parents will have to take away Christmas for the next four years if they are not okay with their kids growing up. This is so unacceptable to do to a child who is just learning their place in the world; they need to realize that not all of their children are going to behave the same way because we all have different temperaments. Instead, take them with you to drop off gifts at a homeless shelter, volunteer at a soup kitchen or have them help pick out toys for a toy drive. This teaches kids it's not all about them and that they have a lot to be thankful for. Then celebrate Christmas as a family; don't take away the holiday of love and generosity. Punishments too far after the fact are pointless anyway as kids forget what they did wrong yesterday. Remember, your consequence should also be logical. How do you learn to be more giving by not being given gifts from your parents. They will also send the message that they only love them at Christmas because they're so terribly selfish; really? Who's selfish...less gifts to buy and wrap? Kids are like elephants and they never forget.

They have pulled them out of school to home school them or should I say to suit their lifestyle. Their two year old has had a camera in his face since he was born. To make matters worse they are bringing out another doll of their 4 month old daughter. I wish child protective services would intervene with this family and Ruby Franke’s family. This should be illegal. The money they are making will be needed for therapy for these kids.
