After falling behind by as much as 25 points, the LeBron-less Lakers nearly crawled all the way back against the New York Knicks last night, but came up short down the stretch in a 106-100 loss. Russell Westbrook finished with a triple-double on the night, with 18 of his 31 points coming in the third quarter to tie the game. Afterward, he addressed LA’s slow starts, saying quote: 'We weren’t playing hard enough, simple. When we decided to play harder, it made a significant difference.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss whether they were encouraged or discouraged by Westbrook's performance against the Knicks.

russ makes more salary then kd giannis kawhi jokic embiid luka damian or lebron which is crazy to me, he makes 44 million the 3rd highest in the nba(technically 4th but wall does not play so he does not get paid as much as he would per game if he was playing so lets not count him) the other ones are harden and curry who are right now on top of their conferences on the best teams out west and east so their worth every penny and harden is only at 43 mill and we know curry makes 45 mill cause of the move to san fran bringing in a lot of money for the owner and his injuries in the past making him cheaper during his mvp year for example than he was worth so he is being made up to by the owner a little but hes playing worth it so yeah...point is russ needs to be better than 20 points 8.6 assists and rebs with 5 turnovers 3.3 fouls and bad overall shooting with his 30% from 3 on 4.5 tries and his at the moment ok but usually lower fg% which is at 43.5% but he needs to be better especially from the ft line which he is currently at 68.5%...the rebs are good but sometimes it means he does not get back on defense or offense in time going for rebs...and is out of position too tired to switch or guard his man off ball...and hes useless off ball on offense....

THT 0-8, Monk 5-14, Ellington 1-3, Melo 3-14, Bradley 5-11. AD played soft. Russ played well after the 1st half. They lost because they shot horribly. Even with the bad defense. Missed a lot of shots.

That's poor shooting, but experienced players should know that you need to drive, draw fouls, or shoot closer from the basket when accuracy is down. This goes for Melo and Bradley because the are the vets. THT and Monk will have ups and downs.

Those 6 turnovers could be worth a great number of actual points. A lot of people value a turnover as being a 4 point swing, so up to 24 points of damage off of 6 turnovers.

So let me ask you ? What is Russell westbrick’s playoff record for last 4 year? We don’t give damn about whether he comes hardest at the mid to second half of the season. And also don’t give a sht about his triple double. I don’t know how people praise this guy in such a high level. Y’all need to admit Westbrick is just a turnover machine without jumpshot. His basketball iq is very unreliable during the crunch time. Did you know that wesbrick is averaging the most career turnover per game in NBA history,which is around 4.1? Even if he were to have 0 turnover for the rest of the season, he would still hold the all time record. Westbrook is just running around the court and doing cardio. This guy’s only strength is fast dribble and make a layup or dunk, thats pretty much it. He is a pathetic defender that really doesn’t give any effort on defense.

THT was on THC on TNT. Westbrook played very well. AD is SOFT too often. You can't hide this fact anymore. Bron is sometimes coasting. And sometimes struggling because he's 19 years in. 8th seed, at best

Russ had an amazing game, he had just as many stops as he did turn overs. Believe it or not he's really changing his game. Look how much calmer he is on offense, he's becoming a facilitator. Once he develops a consistent jumper the Lakers are a WAY better team, unfortunately him bringing the ball up and not being a threat just hurts a lot

@@flykidddd1235 A pass why? Harden for his career averages .5 less turnovers a game than Russ. So it's not like Harden is this great PG who never turns it over. He Russ but jacks up even more shots than Russ does. 44% from 2 and 35% from 3. He's league average from 3 and only .7 better than Russ from 2. So it's not like he's this great shooter either. If they take his flops in the paint away he barely a 17 point scorer who turns it over just like Russ. Russ gives you more assists and rebounds with about the same turnovers. Russ 23 a game Harden 25. So where's the difference. Russ is better all around than Harden. Harden has done zero when it matters. But sure take Harden. You aren't winning with him. History shows this.

If you look at every year championship teams, even at the beginning they look good, they dont even miraculously become better later in the season. Even when lbj was playing they look like a beatable team. They never looked like a winner team.

they have 0 road wins vs a playoff team so far and 1 win vs a playoff team in the west and its vs the most likely 8th seeded by the end of season currently 7th seeded grizzlies(due to injuries to the nuggets lakers)...let the record show..lets see how long that keeps up cause we are 20 games in now after tonight with indy whose not a playoff team and they will still have 0 road wins win or lose this game vs a playoff team and 1 total win vs a west playoff team...20 games into their season.....and their 3 wins vs playoff teams have been by an average of 3 points at home which is basically 1 point wins lets be real(1 was vs the butler less heat so it does not even count) cause at home your rewarded 2 points a night just due to bench guys playing better at home so they are basically winning by a ft a night at home vs 2 semi good teams (1 time with bron playing over 40 minutes)....that hornets win looks good without bron but it was when they lost like 5 in a row to be fair and looked awful in the other 4 games(and we know not to trust the hornets to make the playoffs or if they do its like as an 8th seed maybe a 9th seed)....and the heat without butler are not a playoff team out west so that win looks worse and worse by the day cause without butler or oladipi miami probably is a 10th seed at best out east maybe 11th...even if butler gave them a quarter of action vs la...its not enough...

When you're a bad offensive team and a bad defensive team at the same time you're going to be getting blown out, or be down 25, chasing games, or giving up huge leads pretty much every night. Being bad on both ends means no consistency, you just can't trust this Lakers team as they're currently performing to win games.
