How to replace the bushings for the upper control arms, and the coil spring seats.
The OEM part numbers for the bushings you need:
4x bushings for upper control arm: 71 63 603
2x bushings for the coil spring seat: 89 31 974

I just did my entire lower suspension last week with the help of your other video! I still have engine mounts to get to as well as those upper bushings but it’s so worth it! The difference is a completely different car.

Yes... As I use to say... The right tools is half of the job. Without good tools, everything is is harder to do right. I love this wrenches.

I was not sure of if I shold remove the entire video sound, and only add music, but I descided maybe it is also nice to hear the sounds of the tools and so... My grunting will hopefulle be more quiet afer may 15, as I then will have a surgery for my nasal canal.

Great video, THANK YOU! Im prepairing to do the driver's side inner bushings while the engine is out. Is it really necessary to compress and remove the springs to do the inner bushings? I did the passenger side inners (many many years ago) without the benefit of youtube, internet, a proper manual, spring compressor, or even a jack. Wheels remained on the ground, suspension loaded. I probably used a crowbar to get the brackets realigned and bolted. Just wondering, if the outer bushings aren't being replaced, do the springs need to be removed?

I believe you remember wrong, because there is quite a lot tension in those springs even when car lifted and the shocks removed.

PLEASE tell me where you purchased the longer bushing for the lower spring mounting plate. They seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Ken Pedley Yup, I just assumed they were NLA even though the only ones I’ve seen were those powerflex polys on the scandix site.

I ordered all of my bushings from Svenska SAAB klubben (The Swedish SAAB Club). But you have to be a paying member of the club to get access to buying there.

Thanks. Just started looking this week. There are several “Unicorns to hunt” when trying to keep these 30+ year old beauties alive but didn’t expect suspension bushings to be one of them. I saw the Polys on Scandix and may end up having to go that route to get this project done before end of “Driving season.”

That would be great than you for taking the time do you use the same tool for the top and bottom bushings? Or is it a different size.?

when you were tightening the upper control arm bushing mounts the engine is moving quite a bit is that normal?

@@brianoconnell7159 The engine is not moving. It is the camera moving because the camera sitting on a flexible camera stand mounted to the car. It is the entire car moving so the camera swaying.

hey Terje how do you torque the top nut on the front shock is there a special torque wrench . I ask because you have to insert a torx bit into top of rod to keep piston from spinning as you torque the nut. thanks.
