Hello Terje thanks for another great video. I just wonder though, did you have your servo unit removed for this? For me the servo completely gets in the way for the collar and I wasn't able to get at it from below or above.
I read that on the Saab 900 the washer pump is powered directly from the switch in the stalk. I didn't care for this as a bad switch = worse performing pump. Plus the whole issue with voltage drop across the wiring. So I installed a relay and made the stalk activate the relay instead of the pump. Now the pump is driven directly off the battery. And that wasn't enough for me so I installed a 2nd pump in series and now it works great!
Hello Terje Thank you for this tuto I have the same problem on my Saab now the rubber seal is broken, and i need to change it please could you share about the supplier of the seal. at this moment i don't find supplier for this. many thanks in advance Nour

Your videos are incredibly helpful Terje, thank you for this and all your other videos showing how to do it. I had real help a few weeks ago from your video on the real brake calipers too.
A 900 or 9000 wheel? What parts got separated? If you are on Facebook, find me in my blog there for easier conversation. Search for Terje's Saab convertible blog.
Doing this right now to the spoiler on my turbo, looking a bit splotchy in certain light angles but I assume that's just how it is before you apply the bumper polish!
After it finished, it looks quite good, I think... Of course, it doesn't look like new, but when you know how bad it was before the treatment, I think the result is absolutely acceptable. You can't find these new, so you have to accept what you get out of restoring the one you have.
Hej Terje!
Hey ! Thanks for posting. It's very interesting and it helps understanding my 900s better. One question : you seem to find used parts quite easily. What is your source ? My shift lever broke and can't find one anywhere else than the UK and the states... Which is bad for customs reasons. Thanks ! Yann
Great video, THANK YOU! Im prepairing to do the driver's side inner bushings while the engine is out. Is it really necessary to compress and remove the springs to do the inner bushings? I did the passenger side inners (many many years ago) without the benefit of youtube, internet, a proper manual, spring compressor, or even a jack. Wheels remained on the ground, suspension loaded. I probably used a crowbar to get the brackets realigned and bolted. Just wondering, if the outer bushings aren't being replaced, do the springs need to be removed?
Wow, that drivers side mount is really something to change. I just finished doing my passenger side and front mount. I guess I will settle in for several hours to complete the drivers side. This was a great video! The engine bay on this car was so clean. That impressed me as well. Thank you for the video, you do good work.
I just installed the C900 Short-Throw Shifter from Modern Classic Saab. As Terje says , this makes a huge difference. Transforms the drive from great to very sporty. Solid gear changes, no slop. My car is a 1991 SE Turbo. Thanks for the video.
Hi I have just bought the same car as your convertible with a rear window that needs fixing. I watched your video and wondered how well it has lasted. Thanks for your videos as I had another 900 , also I really appreciate you doing this in English. I have visited Norway a few times but failed to pick up the language.
I replaced the entire top canvas and rear window piece one year later, because the top was leaking all over it... So I dont know how long the window repair should last. But I think it could last several more years.
Hej Terje, thank you for this helpful video. Concerning the order of bleeding the calipers for non-ABS cars until ‘87: Why in this specific order (right front - left rear - left front - right rear)? From what I have understood from other sources, one starts bleeding with the caliper which is the farthest from the brake fluid reservoir and then gets closer toward it (right rear - left rear - right front - left front). Does the different order has something to do with Saab‘s specific braking system?
The order I have specified in the video is the way the Saab Bentley manual say. I also have seen for other car brands the same as you say, so I dont know why the Bentley manual use that order.
@@SaycoPworrell Ahhh... Not easy to understand since you did not comment about it in the actual video... Hehe I dont know, because that repair was just to make the top hold together for a couple of years until I could afford to replace the entire top. And I did replace the top two years later, so now everything is fresh and new, all done by myselfe.
Yes you put greas on the bottom ball joint. Vaseline is a bad choice because it is not sticky enoug and will be squeezed out too far. Use some long fiber grease that does not harm any nylon.
were you not concerned the clock spring would blow up in your face? also do you know the torx size for airbag removal on a stock 1990 900 steering wheel?
It is not any spring with tension inside there. It is just a ribbon cable coiled with no tension inside. You just only have to be very careful not to destroy the ribbon. It is a bit fragile. When you put it all together and before you put the steering wheel back on, it is crucial to center the turns of the ribbon as mentioned in the video.
This is the squared typa as on my car. www.saabits.com/transmission/saab-900-9000-gear-linkage-joint There is also a barrel shaped type on some cars. You have to check on you car.
Thank you so much Terje, your videos are very helpful, and the step by step approach is what make them great and easier to understand. Merci beaucoup !
Thanks for this video Terje. Very clearly shows what needs to be done. I am wondering can I access where the vacuum line enters the cabin by removing the knee bar? I need to access the other side of the air filter for the cabin where vacuum enters. I am pretty sure I have managed to block it with some crud or even superglue, when working there. I really need to get at it from the other side and try and clear the blockage, perhaps replace the vacuum line. But it didn't look easily accessible despite you having removed the whole dash. Am I going the wrong way here?
@@TerjeNormann That explains why I didn't see one when you where working on the wheel wheel! No matter I managed to find it and access it without disassembly. It was tight but I have now fixed it.
@@dennisa6132 They made some reinforcement bars down from the A-pillars in there, on the convertibles so the canister did not get space in there. Therefore they moved it to the left bottom of the trunk. ;) Happy to hear you made it. Where does the hose go through the firewall in your car?
@@TerjeNormann It goes through right under the air filter for the cabin, there's a fitting there for two hoses, on my car only one is used since I do not have AC. By moving the bottom vent on the passenger side out of the way I managed to access them.
Hello, I'm struggling to replace my turning switch signal on my 89 saab 900. I can't unplug the switch. Do i have to remove the entire dashboard or is there a trick ? Best regards and congrats for your channel, very helpful
It can be a bit tight, but you should be able to remove the stalk switch just by removing the plastic cover on the under side of the steering collumn. I have done that some times myselfe. For to unplug the wires you must push the holding tab.
Could you record the rest of the video or could you show (maybe via email?) what "tighten the clamp at the rubber bushing" means? It would be very helpful for me. Thank you very much, greetings from Poland.
Thank you, Terjie! Even without the video for the final operation, it is explained well enough that one can confidently do it and, then, feel the difference.
I have a 1988 900 turbo convertible .. I can not find both of those holes and in the bottom i have a round bushing and the interior shifter I only have 1 hole and is for the dowel pin going and plastic cover on top I can't find any diagram for my model .. please help thank you in advance ..
@@TerjeNormann i got it fix today .. it was my fault .. the ignition key broke due to shifter gear binding . i did a delete install a button start . when i install the linkage support (white plastic) i forgot to turn the hold up . that is why i can't see it :( >>> thanks tho .. keep up the good work !
Da legger man heller trykkfast isopor oppå gulvet. Om man holder på med nytt gulv og har åpent bjelkelag uten gulvdekke på enda, jobber man motsatt vei ved å legge stubbloftsplater først, så isolerer og gulvdekket til slutt.
