I just found your channel this morning, you have a new subscriber. My husband, josh, and I have been interested in sailing for about 4 years now. We watch a lot of RU-vid cruisers. We’re farmers and it’s honestly been a really rough six years for agriculture and we sold all of our milk cows this spring. We are growing our organic crops in hopes to be seasonal and go south in the winters. Last week we jumped and bought a Newport 30 with some of our cow money. Some think we are foolish not to save or invest it, but we haven’t been happier in our whole marriage. We’re investing in our family. We have 3 toddlers and they’re at the perfect ages to learn and be excited about the boat. We are 28 but the years keep going by faster and we don’t want to wonder what took us so long or have some tragedy happen before we do what we’ve dreamed of. So your sentiments really resonate with me. Keep up the good work! Quality videos.

Stumbled across your vlogs. Did the exact same thing last winter... thought why wait and purchased a Beneteau myself. Best thing I ever did and so glad I didn’t wait 20 years until I’m like 50!

In the last couple of weeks, I starting looking into sailing. Subbed to many sailing channels. You channel has the most emotional, heartwarming comments. I really like your message.... I've seen many at my job work until it past retirement age 65+. By that time, too old for physical travels, taking lots of medication and pass away. Never getting a chance to do what THEY wanted. I don't know much about sailing but looking forward to taking classes with my wife this summer. (she doesn't know it yet). Mainly, it help us bond closer and who know, we may look into getting a boat. Thanks for your video. Keep posting. Looking forward to the next one..

Dear Josh, I've spent the last 3 years refurbishing a 40 year old fiberglass sailboat. Not to sail around the world, but to sail the east coast and maybe even the Caribbean some day. Sadly, I experienced a stroke which has left me uneasy on my feet. It proved to be to difficult for me to get around on the sailboat and I just recently sold it. After almost 3 full years of work, it was completely gutted, re-wired, all new electronics, new water system, new fuel sysytem I mean everything from the ground up!One never knows what life will bring you so I tell you and anyone else out there that you need to follow your dreams and not put them off! If you have to compromise do it, go smaller or cheaper but just go! You never know how much time you have left to do what you dream about.Recently, I bought a 50 year old trawler which is the "Europa" style so it'll be easier for me to get around and handle myself. I'm not giving up on my dream, just doing it a little different! Hopefully, next year I'll have this boat done "enough" to leave and maybe do the "Great Loop" or who knows even the Caribbean. For now, people like you help me to keep the dream alive! So thanks for taking the time to share what your are doing. I know it takes a lot of extra time to do it, but I'm sure there's lots of us out there like me that really really appreciate it! So thank you very very much for you time and effort I know you must put in on these great videos! Sincerely, Bill S.
@JoshPostVlogs

Thank you, Bill. You are exactly right. We never know what life will throw at us. Good luck with your trawler. I plan to get down to the Caribbean later this year myself.

Hi Josh! Where to begin, my heart almost stopped as you gracefully read my earlier comment about wishing if only I had the courage in living my dream of sailing and my heart break of missing out on sailing with my wife before she suddenly was taken from me through complications due to ovarian cancer. Yes, it'd be an honored and a privilege to hopefully one day sail with you. One day our path's may cross and I'd like to thank you personally for showing such compassion at a strangers loss. Each vlog that you posted has been borderline phenomenal... Inspiring to say the least. Love that you threw in a mixture of sailing and traveling. My wish is for a healthy and long life filled with the special lady you have portrayed in many of your video's. You guys make an awesome couple!! All the best my friend and may our path's hopefully one day cross!

Cheers and thanks again for your comments!

Left off at ep 6 and look forward to seeing how you make out. Thank you for nudging me closer to, hopefully, my boating experience and displaying the can-do, no quit attitude!

Hey Josh, great video! I'm 52 and sailing is an old project that I'm beginning to set in motion, so I'm studying a lot. I'll attend a basic sailing course this weekend, by the way. Thank you very much and congratulations for the boat!!

Don't tell anybody but I painted all the wood in my cabin white. I have a very small cabin and the wood just made it feel very claustrophobic. It is much brighter now and in my opinion easier to clean. I have received negative comments about it but I tell people to buy their own sailboat and we can put them side by side to compare. It usually shuts them up pretty quick. Big thumbs up for a great video Josh.
@JoshPostVlogs
@JoshPostVlogs 6 лет назад
Nice! We all have different tastes, and I also like a brighter cabin. If I had unlimited funds, I would have myself a brand new Beneteau or Jeanneau with the light (blond) wood interior.
@flyingdutchman6984
@flyingdutchman6984 6 лет назад
I have seen quite a few boats with the light wood interior and it is heads up better looking than the old dark stained woods of yore. If I had unlimited funds I'd buy us both a new sailboat. :)

Hi Josh, thanks for posting this video, I think its time I buy a boat and go sailing!! I had no idea I would love sailing so much, I hate swimming and have never really had a draw to water. A couple of years ago my wife and I were on vacation on the east coast of Canada and had a chance to go whale watching on a sail boat. At first I said to my wife that I wasn't really interested but she really wanted to go so we went, such is the life of the married man... ;-) When we got out on the ocean under full sail I felt like I was home. I sat there for a few minutes trying to process all the emotions I was feeling while happy tears were streaming down my face. It was an unbelievable and unforgettable experience. I'm looking forward to watching all your videos, maybe someday we'll run into each other out on the water!! Take care and good luck with all your repairs.

Ok very smart boat you’ll love it keep going making a nice job , re that keel , here in nz I see a bunch of guys with there’s , striped it to bare metal then some company came in and stuck a plastic sheet over the keel , sticky plastic , and it bonded to the hull as well around the keel area , no more rust , and no more antifouling on the keel area , I say it out some weeks ago and the keel looked like new , food for thought

Josh nice work on the vids! I know from personal experience of only making one 5 minute vid (Sailing French Polynesia 2015) it took me 8 hrs! Your generosity with your time will be appreciated by many who do not or will never have the opportunity to embark on this kind of experience and adventure. BTW, was in Annapolis last August finishing commissioning on my boat, it was 96 degrees. Then took it to the Bahamas in Dec right before the snow hit. You will persevere!

Thanks a lot! Yes, lots of time editing, but I enjoy it. I much prefer the heat over the cold, so I don't mind hot temps. Cheers!

Great videos Josh. Honest and straightforward. I spent the last NY winter restoring my boat that's finally in the water...The struggle is real and the pay-off is worth it. :)) Subscribed.

Hey Josh, this probably won't help too much for you now, but a variable speed grinder is far better then the less expensive 4" grinders. But if you go online, you can get a speed reducer (about 40.00) that can be used to reduce the speed of your grinder for better control. I use it every time when I have to grind anything.

Hi Josh, started watching you because of your sailing how to video and stayed to watch the adventure unfurl. Your Beneteau has beautiful lines and even though it is very tempting to put her in the water. you are very wise to tackle all the jobs you can now while it is on the hard and until the money dries up. You have a great video style and cant wait to see you out sailing again. Please capture some footage if you go out on friends' boats.

Thanks Tim. I just went out on a friend's boat yesterday and we shot a video about how to use the spinnaker. The footage turned out just okay (not great), but I hope to get up a video on how to use spinnaker in about a week. Cheers!

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you did not do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bow lines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain I wish you fair winds and following seas

Indeed. That is one of my favorite quotes. I heard Mark Twain may not have actually said it, but it's usually attributed to him. Nonetheless, I like Mark Twain, because, like Twain, I am also from Missouri. Cheers to you and thank for posting that great quote!

Hi Mr. Post. I've been watching vidoe's like this for some time now, but find your's very inspirational. My dream, as a retired Army Combat Medic, is to buy my sailboat, restore it, and sail off. Working as a paramedic/EMP offshore on BIIIG wessels now, and spend 2-4 weeks at sea often. Only makes the dream stronger. I have sailed the Atlantic from vest to east, but not on a sailboat. I guess I like the open spaces, and the horizon. When 5 deployments didn't kill me, I'll hang on a bit longer :). Never to late, but better soon than sorry. Keep up with the filming, and good luck to you from Norway.

Josh, You may (or may not) be aware. There are many people like me very interested in your boat repair work. I specifically will hope to be embarking on a journey similar to yours. I am watching intently every facet of work you are doing (in the repair ) of your sailboat. I'm interested to know every detail. If you would provide a simple financial sheet of general cost required that would be greatly appreciated.
