Hey guys, I'm back with another video!! So, I finally decided to sit down to watch and experience Saltburn with you guys!! I did see this movie in the cinema, although under interesting circumstances so there was a bunch I missed. That's why I thought I'd rewatch here so I can fully understand all the gross, filthy yet beautiful things about this movie. Enjoy!! xoxo

the scene of felix taking oliver to see his family gagged me more than any of the “weird/crazy” scenes. the secondhand embarrassment and feeling embarrassed myself that i fell for oliver’s lies made me feel the most uncomfortable

Also I think Felix was a genuinely good person too, even after he discovers Oliver is lying, he doesn't tell Oliver's or his own parents and still wants Oliver to have his birthday party. He also notices how hard Oliver's parents try for him so he makes Oliver stay for the dinner they prepared.

I feel like you missed a lot if you think Felix is good. Its implied that Felix and his family always bring “the less fortunate” home as a charity case but its actually for their own entertainment. Its made clear with Pamela how they throw them out when they tire of them. He lets the party go on because it would be embarassing to tell everyone that he got lied to. As for the interaction with his parents, Felix was trying to make Oliver sit in the uncomfortable situation as a way to punish him. No one in the movie is a “genuinely good person” imo.

The breakfast scene after Felix's death is how grief works. You go from bawling your eyes out to everyday tasks back to bawling your eyes out then making funeral plans then watching a tv show, and it all feels so weird.
@Panssel
@Panssel 7 месяцев назад
As someone who lost his mom (my most loyal friend) to cancer a month and a half ago and is going through grief I can tell this is totally true. I just can't even think about my mother right now, not the good moments, not the bad ones. I'm just living my life as if she never existed because when I think about her, specially at the silence of the night, I just feel devastated and end up crying for hours. The scene is exaggerated, because it is a satire, but the message behind it is true.

I loved this movie. The cinematography was so beautiful, the acting, the direction, my gods. The last shot makes SO much sense to me - the moment when he is utterly, entirely himself - no clothes, no pretensions, shedding his old life like clothes dropping to the floor. Absolutely psychopathic creature he is, I think it was totally in his character to dance naked as a huge fuck-you to the upper class too. Like a 'see, now I'm putting my **** on everything you hold sacred and dear'.

The fact Farleigh got away alive (pretty much the only one), is just so weird and yet so tale telling. Its not that Oliver ever liked him, but he wasn't in Felix's class. He wasn't his prey. And he actually really cared. The family made it pretty clear that just as the mother, Felix used to have a 'project', a toy for entertainment. And that Oliver was just one of them. When Pamela dies, Oliver realizes it the strongest maybe. Whereas Farleigh was actually really passionate about these people. He cared. Or maybe Oliver's means only grew more extreme. The tear he's crying when he kissed the sister in the tub and knows sex won't get him out of it this time, its like he knows what he has to do and yet feels sad about it.

20:03 as someone who used to have them that's actually one of the more tamer kinks in the kink/fetish world. And i DEFINITELY had that kink. During that time i would get damn near insatiable for......"activities." 🤣 But it's definitely not for everyone. Edit: I don't think Saltburn was his *initial* objective. I think it was wanting to be a part of that family. And wanting Felix. I still believe he was deeply in the closet about his feelings for Felix. But when Felix learned the truth and he had to kill him, he went back to Venetia (hence why he kissed her). And then she rebuked him and called him out so he killed her. THEN his goal became Saltburn itself. Because if he couldn't marry in, he was gonna get it however he had to.

On first glance you feel the need to protect the outsider boy and feel disconnected to the things he does you normally felt questionable. But it always is a demonstration of dominance and slowly but surely the feeling about the innocent boy shifts. And as it goes to show, he didn't need a rescue, oh no. True, the grossy parts maybe felt over the top and unnecessary, but they drew out his character even more.

Why does no one ever clock the fact that Oliver is smoking? He literally says at the bar, I don't smoke, and then when next we see him he's perving through the window straight up smoking a cigarette. That for me, gave it away, more than anything, that this guy was a liar at the very least, but when he started changing from this seemingly innocent puppy dog of a boy in love with his friend, to like having vampire sex and flirting with the mom---it's like, no one has THAT much of a personality switch overnight.

I did a rewatch and I can’t help but wonder if Elspeth didn’t want to die. “Coast is clear now isn’t it” is just a bit on the nose. I wonder if she felt guilt letting a kid in who slaughtered their family and decided that’s what she deserved too. Idk

You NEED to watch "Promising Young Woman"! It has Pamela (15:06) in the leading role and is also directed, written and produced by Emerald Fennell (like Saltburn). Ps.: Britney Spears' Toxic is the main track lol

Her name is Carey Mulligan. She was also great in Gatsby.

Best video on Saltburn ever. Just like I knew it would be. Thanks for brightening up my day, Brad 🌞

Honestly Oxford people scare me because this girl I know was showing freshers footage of them sitting round those posh dining tables drinking beer outta their own sweaty boots and dirty trainers ..
