After our backpacking trip to Onion Valley, Kearsarge Pass and Matlock Lake we spend several days in Mammoth Lakes doing laundry, and several day hikes. We also attempted an overnight hike in the 20 lakes Basin of Inyo National Forest.
Appreciate that George, it’s a good reminder to enjoy where you are. Just got back from another spectacular backpacking trip, we both are really tired, but glad we did our last trip. In some ways this was the “easiest” in terms of planning, food preparations, gear selections, and our bodies are adjusting to the stress, but we are still tired 😉.
Those curly roads, I've driven through them on my road trip from Ohio to California through Nevada. It's exciting to see all the time-lapse and great to know you both are doing well!

Its difficult, we need to be in Nature and in quiet places yet it is destroying Nature to do so! Even the Buddha knew this, with Vassa so Monks could not trample the crops during the Rains. I just watched the documentary about Joshimath in the Himalayas how the entire area is sinking, thousands of people's home crumbling - Annica. Its delicate, everything is uncertain. Blessings dear Bhante I hope your Vassa produces gems 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Fortunately Yosemite has the Wilderness Permit part of the park well managed. We rarely meet anyone once you get a mile from the parking lot and we often have our end destination to ourselves or only one or two other groups in the area. Yosemite is interesting in that you do not need to leave your vehicle to see some amazing sights, and in some ways that alleviates the stress to the rest of the park and the plants and animals who live there.
The ethics of tourism…? Personally I avoid crowds. Thunderstorms are exciting. The summer rain makes the grass grow. Blake and Ajahn Jotipalo are amiable tourists and make awesome videos. Thank you 🙏🏻
Much appreciations. Thunderstorms are exciting especially when you are at high altitudes. We were in one on our latest trip but fortunately it passed quickly.
