I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock.
My thoughts are my own and are not representative of everyone who currently works, or has worked at Tesla.

The Cyber truck is versatile enough so that it can be used as a work truck. Many contractors will welcome the opportunity to own a vehicle that refuses to turn into a pile of rust.

The funny thing is the rust sucks when you have to work on your truck and the CT will not only not rust but you also don't have to work on it. People just don't understand how nice it is not having to work on your rusty truck.

You are also not allowed to work on EV without proper training - not that this would stop an owner. Someone has to work on it though. With that weight and power you better believe suspension components are going to be needing replacing. Did they got rid of oil and oil filters in the reduction box? I think i heard something like that in one of the interviews. Or was it there is no dif since there are 2 motors in the back?@@ryan6391

No one is calling it a work truck. Forget all the marketing BS. If you need to tow something you are out of batteries after you do circle around the city. That's the reality. If you push Model S plaid around the track you are out of battery in less than 15 min. that are realities of EVs. You can have range but not with the performance at the same time just yet. You could Tow but not that far etc @@bs_serpents

I believe that Sandy worked with D.A.R.P.A. as well. He tried in vain to influence Ford to use casting technology almost 40 years ago. In many ways Tesla is a vindicated of Sandy's foresight. Go Tesla!

I have become a big fan of Farzad's content lately and have followed Sandy for years. Great coverage and great informative questions. 48v controls is long overdue and the benefit has been greatly underestimated. Copper is expensive and heavy. Keep up the great videos.

Disagree with Munro on the Cybertruck not being used as a work truck. Having a fleet of vehicles with hard to damage bodies, hard to crack windshields, secure payload area, power outlets for tools, solid off road ability, and do on, makes them very practical. I see Tesla offering corporations packages with Cybertrucks, super chargers, battery backup, and solar. Corporations can cut maintenance way down, reduce their "fuel" costs, possibly be able to do energy trading, not to mention have power backup for their facilities. Due to the large back order of Cybertrucks, I am sure it will be years before fleet sales start happening. When the Model 3 first started, it was not thought of as the replacement for Accords and Camries. They kept saying things like BMW 3 series. Cybertruck will not be a niche product. In 2026 fleet sales will likely start happening. Where I live, PG&E is the power company and has worked with Tesla. It would be realistic to think PG&E would add a hundred Cybertrucks to their fleet as a start.

First person/ company to build a full size slide-out for the bed makes a fortune. 6" deep tray for whatever you want, easy access, fully secure when closed. Also, it would let you load taller items towards the front. Could be the perfect work truck.

He's 100% right. The CT is not going to replace work trucks for anyone but Tesla fanboys. No 8ft bed, towing range will suck like all EVs, not going to plow snow with it, not going to put a utility body on it, no 5th wheel capability, etc. It's a homeowner truck, just like most half tons...which it's going to be great at, but let's not get it twisted when it comes to real work.

I disagree with Sandy, as it would be a great work vehicle for my team. We already use Tesla model S as service vehicles, Cybertruck will be ideal for the Security system’s busses

Honestly it depends on your line of work. I run a Paintless dent repair company and this would be a great truck to haul my dent tools. The best part being that I hate dings, and this thing will always remain ding free! @@OtisFlint

As a pilot for a major carrier I can say one thing that’s been mentioned incorrectly now multiple times is steer by wire. Not all passenger airplanes use it, unfortunately the 737 even the new Max versions are not steer by wire. Just my .02c

This is everything I want in a work truck! I don't see where the average pickup truck (F150 type) can pack more in the way of lumber, appliances or anything a workman would haul. PLus built in 110 volt power. That is so handy for any workman.

Will be interesting to see the $25k car with steer-by-wire and 48v architecture(plus independent breaking). Should allow the unboxed approach to flourish because of no fluid systems and minimal wiring harnesses.

Epoxy paint is the preferred coating system for stainless steel. It requires additional preparation and care over that of water based and oil based paints, however they are extremely tough and durable, and if applies correctly have excellent paint adhesion.

The cyber truck will definitely be used by many as their work truck. Of all pick-ups the cybertruck is clearly the most suitable work truck of all for pretty much every reason that has to do with work, except range if it is needed for that work. Plus it's the most efficient truck available. Anyone who owns a business and needs a work truck WILL benefit from using a cybertruck. It's also financially the best possible decision, because it requires the least amount of maintenance of ask the trucks. Just my thoughts on cybertruck for work.

Interestingly enough Elon described the truck many times as a car. It’s dimensions, I understand, make it a mid sized truck and a truck site was inventing descriptors like “ Cybercar” and “ Street Truck”. As Sandy said he doesn’t see it as aimed specifically as a work vehicle. A Performance Utility Vehicle? It certainly moves!

To me how do you put a tool box in and still carry lumber, sheetrock, plywood. I may use tool bags and keep tools in the frunk, now i wish the frunk had an outlet but no biggie. You could have slide out boxes for tools, for like plumbers, electricians...but those tool boxes on top of the bed rail are great...plus a lot of the plumbers and electricians will just prefer a van. I'm going to use it as a work truck fun truck...so I'll get work bags. This will be a billboard for advertising.

Here's what I need before I buy: solar tonneau cover that will at least maintain the battery when parked so that it doesn't have to be plugged in by default. Here's what I would like to have: direct solar charging (add on solar panels), extended battery in the hidden cargo area (or wherever else) instead of the bed for 500 miles of range, center front seat, tailgate ramp, hidden windshield wiper, and bed access from the cabin. Here's the dream: sleep while being driven overnight for 8 hours.

People who make a lot of money, typically pay a lot more income taxes than people who make an average salary. Why shouldn't they get back some of their hard earned money that was given to the government. People who make a high salary, who own more expensive homes and properties also pay the government a lot more money in property taxes and sales taxes than those who make low salaries.

Not practical yet people build platforms as standard for camping rigs. You’ll for sure see wooden built homemade workarounds that want to camp for a week with power for kettles and burners and such not needing a fire or fuel canisters The fancy persons camping 😂

Hardshell tent. Either on ladder racks outside the bed, of at the same angle as the tonneau inside. To use it, open the tonneau, lift the end of the tent to level, latch it in position, open the tent.
