As someone who was in the official English dub (as Ducker. OR, as you know him, "Gary") all I can say is..."WE MUST SAVE MY FAMILY!" And...thank you for the countless laughs! This was an amazing show, and all the hard work and love for it was on full display!
Thank you for the work you’ve done in your shows, no matter how big or small the roles may seem. They all play a part in the media tapestry! And yes, WE MUST SAVE OUR FAMILIES!
Not only did LennonDrake give an all time best performance with Suguha this episode but you guys have continued to do something almost no one would’ve considered before: Making Alfheim a fucking incredibly well written story arc. Also really gotta shout out the performances for Shoji and Kyle. Fucking incredible comedy duo that came out of nowhere and easily salvages such garbage from the original.
I do love how in SAOA s2, kirito is genuinely a nicer person to people he meets and apologizing when he's at fault, only being a dick when someone actually deserves it
This episode was beyond amazing. It really improved the relationship with Kirito and Suguha as siblings and thank goodness that the incest angle was dropped with sibling jealously.
Now, I don't think Asuna would ACTUALLY eat Biscuit. She would absolutely make Shoji THINK she did and steal his dog, like using Yui to manipulate Kirito. But Shoji clearly doesn't deserve a dog anyway 😆.
@@user-qt9ek3us6ia lot lmao, he consistently antagonizes the wheelchair bound head designer and steals her medicated yogurt on the regular. Also, considering that the first answer he came up with for “what are you doing” when Kyle got back is what it is, yeah it’s deserved
The “Say no to Drugs” event is even more horrifying cause seeing as this game effects your actual physical and mental state that people are basically just taking and getting additives to drugs without realizing it.
.....now I'm imagining using the texh in detox centers, let the body completely flush out and recover while still feeding the psychological addiction so you can tackle the two aspects of the addiction one at a time instead of getting double whammied.
That final scene gave me a LEGITIMATE "............... Daaaamn............" moment. That takes alot, a WHOLE GODAMN LOT. *removes hat and makes a theatrical bow* Bravissimo. You created a scene that GENUINELY STRUCK ME
48:25 The nuance of comedy with serious emotional depth is truly the deep core of SAO Abridged, it works very well and as was noted the drops make the comedy that much sweeter. Great work to your Team yet again and thanks for putting this behind the scenes discussions up ❤
I fucking LIVE for these Post Morten streams. I love hearing all their thoughts on the episode and hearing all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making it. Now if they would only do one for Smartphone Abridged my life would be complete.
Never got to say this during the 10th anniversary, those reactives are wonderful. Izzy’s giant mustache works perfectly for him. Makes him look like some kind of secret 3rd Mario bros.
1:49:33 - Additionally, Sugou’s entire evil plan is predicated on using immersive RPG stats to override Asuna’s consent. So that means that Kyle can excuse his BOSS molesting this underage girl, but he draws the line at his COWORKER molesting this underage girl.
@@seelcudoom1 Why would he assume that? His job is to torture coma patients in unethical experiments. Why would he think that the guy who hired him to do that would have qualms about torturing a coma patient?
Honestly, they might not know much about his plans, just what they have to do. Do you think they are being paid enough to care what their boss plans to actually do?
@@supermysterious66 This just isn’t true, though. The tech support guy asked if he could “let them out”, Shoji and the rest of the guards are working to keep a girl captive against her will, and I think it’s pretty damned hard to conduct tests on comatose human subjects without knowing what it is you’re testing.
@@spongeborgtheford4971 what part of this is confusing? I simply explained what it sounds like. /s (but for real, I fully forgot I wrote such a buckwild sentence, haha)
i can feel the love through the episode, but i can also feel the pain through the post-mortem. this makes me realize not to take SAOA for granted and not complain for each episode taking a year but season finale when????
they literally said that they want to make it be the next one , but they may have to split it in two parts if it is too long , so its gonna be either 18 or 19 ... personally i hope it is just one episode , i dont mind it even if its a whole hour , even if i have to wait more than a year this time , i just think it would be better for them to make it be one episode
Its interesting to see all the editing that goes into these episodes. It really makes you appreciate the effort and time they put into each one. The hard work really pays off, amazing job guys!
Nah , i think the Aincrad ark is still the best arc in both the original and this its just that this arc was even more of an improvement on the original than the last arc because of just how bad the original alfheim was Abridged Aincrad and Alfheim both have the same amazing SWE quality ... but i think Aincrad just about edges it out because of how foundational it was
This is for all y'all who make this series, I incredibly appreciate it. I have been following this series for years now. And well into the years of the end of my schooling, even when I SHOULD have the sense to think SAO is nothing but what everyone says about it, I still love what you guys have done. And what's in store for SAO's future, such as the light novel movies. So much hard work and effort that I wish I had, but I'm so proud for this team sticking it out.
I love the Post-Mortem’s, they’re quite enjoyable and a fantastic look behind the scenes, plus it goes a long way in continuing to humanize you guys (to the RU-vid audience anyhow) and show us that you’re not just these robots reading funny scripts.
now i want to know what the original storyline for kirito and asuna was for you guys, that'd be interesting. this was already hard hitting. and you guys SHOULD be proud of what you accomplished. not only for writing such a good story and executing it the way you did, but for doing it with the, shall we say, "limited" material you had to work with
This series has been amazing and the work you've done has been so clean, from the writing to the voice acting to the editing and shot composition, its all been great
Guys....guys...you deliver bangers, we know this. You aged like the finest of fucking wines too because you start each episode expecting brilliance and STILL get absolutely blown away. You've all had your iconic scenes and beyond the usual perfect voice acting but Lennondrake took the brillant shit you wrote for her and just crotch kicked our emotions with how amazing that ending was. Shes been doing amazing but it was incredible to see her finally get her "I'll never forget that" scene. The writing, editing, acting...you guys are just past whatever perfect could have been and brought us to new worlds of what abridged can be. You guys defy the fuggin science of talent to do this, it's soo good.
1:50:37 it would be amazing to see a 1 minute long mini spin off series over at the shorts tab about what these two did after alfhiem. or just a post credit scene in the season finale, about shoji either being under investigation or just arrested and we just see the news article
just got done watching the whole thing in one sitting always so fun watching how you guys come up with the jokes and doing your edeting magic you guys are a joy to watch
I recently stumbled upon this series thanks to a friend of mine. Now, even if I know you'll take a while until you release the finale of this arc I can't wait to see it, you guys are great!
I love this series and I am considering donating to the kirito's always right foundation. Please keep up the hard work and see this anime to the end pleassssssssse. This is the most masterful abridged ever.
I said as much in the video proper but you guys really outdid yourselves in this episode and the voice acting was from Lennon was just amazing at the end. I also cannot express how glad I am to see you guys not undercut the serious moments with jokes as so many movies due today. Edit: Also you guys need to include really loooong takes like at 2:12:03 as after-credit bloopers or something in the video!
Honestly, if Kirito stops to think about it, and its obvious why he didn't because the situation is tense and there's a time table and as you said they always assume the worst of each other, she has a (presumably) high level character and ties to a bunch of people and has clearly been playing the game longer than him by weeks or months at least. She couldn't have followed him into the game to mess with him...she was there first. That doesn't necessarily mean she can't know it was him all along since there meeting and interacting with each other is crazy coincidence. But she clearly couldn't have just followed him into the game.
YES!it took me days of watching snippets off this but i finally watched all the way through of this video...I VERY much enjoy seeing you guys chat with your mustachod avatars and showcasing all the editing. its nice seeing all the work thats gone into it. especially the fairy of yui being scrolled ito frame. andieven got to see things i didn't notice before. like the mascot hugs not drugs after the update. and the masking as they passby as well as seeing you guys talking about the lip flaps and sincing diaologue. not gonna lie.....my new favorite joke is the sphinx 'man' giraff joke...but I think you guys did good with the button sound in declaring glory XD cz its also endearing. its real neat to see what was msked or brought infrom other shots. I also enjoyed the smacking sound of kirito aginst the wall. the red and black thing for the wedding is kindof interesting when approached by normal western norms for wedding dresses vs what i think i know about japan... lets hope she bought some time. I actally thought she was actively trying tobreak out this whole time...its just they end up catching her in the end all those other times...though asuna actib=vely sabotaging nd buying time by harrassing the employess is a good movue for her to do. this makes me wonder if the issue for asuna is she is left handed or would be better prone to using inverted controls normally. I'm not gonna lie....shoji does grown on you in a weird way even when he's the worst other employee. though damn...the line about the lady in the wheelchair ALSO enambling and being part of thisevil plan/organization. I can only hope that shoji at least gets to go to the christening wre his friend finds out shoji lied in the moment de to fear for his dog....either way its a great way to kindof adress whathappened in the original and being clear how fucked up that is that even a evil organization has standars to not sexually harrass and would judge those who would do that even while surrounded by tortured people. its fun to see you guys try tp remember origins of certain jokes as well and who came up with who. also YES that end scene punching you guys in the gut to is a chef's kiss. that hit HARD when the credits just appeared on the side and the uncomfortablness lingered. I am really glad you guys did this arc nd focused on the sigbling relationship which had been a important core aspect of the drama in the original that got overshadowed by the sugohai trying to dodge incest feelings plot. i mean the cousin adoption detail could have still been used but regardless they were raised as brother and sister so i like it not mattering because in everything that counts they are brother nad sister . using the issue with how the grandfather was a harsh guy in the original anime origin and how she took the brunt of that in th eoriginal so he'd leave kirito alone and how that kirito felt guilt and didn't know how to approach her after that and making it so instead kirito quit probably because teh grandfather was too harsh but also the asma and the mom's interference...sugohai not realy understanding why since she was younger since with both of there and how she enjoyed his company it wouldnt have been as bad...but then the training getting WORSE after he left due to the grandfather being kindof sexist makes how she gets kindof defensive about being emotional or showing she likes stuff or kindness...like when it comes to her not boyfriend or making cupcakes or wanting to be a damsel in the distress for a bit... and her insulting his videogames take extra layers to shift through. and her giving her all to make it seem fun and her succeeding and getting trophies meant kirito might feel compared to and made fun of since she was isulting the videogames he liked playing and making. th emisinterpretation on both of their parts...both were kids. her frusteration on how did he not notice all the stressss she was under and how she missed him but we also know she had tried to hide it from him so he would think she was having fun and come back so of course he wouldnt notice. especially when we know kirito had felt bullied before and he didnt even notice the complement clien gave about his skills and offering to hang out anyway after clien called him a asshole. its also interesting to think about how you tipped away from the icnest route but also had teh option to tip into it...after all having kirito being famous and the joke about all those kiritos...it would actually make alot of sense for her NOT to realize it was her brother...since who would assume someone who escaped a videogame death woul go BACK into a videogame...but the fact all the other kirito's were killed and driven from the game a while ago that its part of lore means a resent kirit would stand out...especially when she could connect it to her brother on a personal level with default looks, his voice and the knowledge she has about a certain lucifer in a coma. and her and WE knowing she knows made alot fo the interactions and us waiting for HIM to catch up really interesting..how he missed teh worst brother aspect and how he was kindof insensative but we have te context she was actually trying this time and knowing what started nudging her into trying to understand him(and yui). I also love the part with how he also assumes she bought it delieberately to mess with him or do a prank or something mea considering she always would insult videogames...something that connects to HER first impression of finding out he was in the game that yui had to talk down...and connects how despite teh built up evidence that should make they realize of course thats not the case they both doubted as soon as they found out. like krito she JUST tried to save you and help you out and it would explain her being nice at the hospital. but nope..instant suspicion. I wonder if we'll get to see any of the flashbacks. this is why you should have given him the heads up yui X'D a;sp the part abot how she doesnt know him anymore and how hevideogames took him away hit HARD because the videogame doid literally trap him for years. no his fault...but he did chooseto play that videogame and get trapped. it made me think of how katara despite knowing there were extenuating circumstances was still mad and felt abandoned by her dad. the videogames literally stole him away where he couldhave died at any moment which would probably be hard to process for anyone. i'm also glad you showed the part of how she'd get the keycard...though i wonder if we'll get to see how she figured out the passcode by watching his finers in a mirror...though asuna justbeingable to break out with the implication she'd done this enogh by now is great. I alao love the subtle edit on assuna's face while she is being held up that changed the whole feelings she was giving out. girl was scary. I know she was probably lying since she IS good at threats and while can be vicious isactually aware enough on how to fake it or pass and wha wuld be 'normal' reactions. thoygh lets face it being stuck in a murder game probably idnt help XD ut asuna just going full crazy on the evil people because they are evil and she doesnt have to be considerate is fun. also the dude on the other side of the ttech support call just dead inside actually asking about freeing the hostages XD and i lve ohowyou actuvely tried to use some of thebest footage in ow they animated sugoha and kirito in that emotional fight. round of applause for all of you.
One of the big 3 in a bridged series fr 🤣🤣jve watvhed tjis countless of times and it never gets old i cant wait for more man im eagerly waiting for the next episode🤣ty guys formaking this one of the most histerical series and on top of tht made alfheim 10 times better💪💪💯💯💯
It's funny, because I mistakenly thought Shoji was the one saying "IT'S MEDICATED" in the scene before Kyle teleports off, and that he was just the designated butt-monkey who always got the short end of the stick, so I did feel a bit bad for him. I get the feeling that I'm not the only person who made this mistake
Fantastic work y'all on all of it, but especially on the perfect balancing of Sugaha and Kirito neither being completely in the right nor completely in the wrong.
If all else fails, i will motivate myself to get through the tough parts of life, by reminding myself that i have to survive until this series goes on! I must see your brilliant writing, editing and VA works!
I remember that after the episode came out to the public here, I waited to watch it until it was with my fiancé. She introduced me to you guys with SAOA, and Hellsing Abridged is how we first bonded. Also, I think the reason people are asking for Lani to voice the next villain is that you got 2 of the writers/voice actors from TFS to play the villain; Taka and Kaiser (Masako could do amazingly as well in my opinion).
Yeahhh, I dont think I could edit the way you guys do, lol. I can possibly voice act and edit, but you guys do it on a bigger scale. Amazing job guys, keep it up
At the end of this episode, I remember just sitting back, and thinking, "Damn, I really got invested." I only ended up watching the whole series because I saw a few funny moments videos, and decided to watch the whole thing. Not to mention, I haven't seen SAO (not really much of an anime guy in the first place, so this is more the exception than the rule), and came for the laughs, for Kirito dissing the shit out of everyone and being an hilarious asshole, then getting invested between Yui, then the season 2 story, and then the last scene of 17. And damn did Suguha's VA deliver that perfectly.
Kitrito death scene was funny because it had call backs to Auska's multi tap death scene in "End of evangaleon". Reaching for the sun, then the pin cushion. I was devastation in eoe but knowing the beats, you just felt it was a nod and therefor a spoof.
I said this in the actual video, and I don't mean to ruin the emotional moment Suguha had (which was amazing) but she made it seem like the reason they grew apart was all Kirito's fault, when it wasn't. She joined kendo of her own choice, he didn't ask nor force her to join, so why would he try and tell her to leave when it was her choice? And she acted like her constant emotional abuse wouldn't make him think she hated him
About the Kendo thing, it was "He did everything he could to make me quit" Not him asking her to leave. This implies that the grandpa was abusive/sexist toward Suguha as he only wanted to teach Kirito. Which would explain the intense fear suguha has when it comes to being seen as girly. Also, emotional trauma can distort your memories of the past. Happy memories could be twisted when looked at through trauma.
@@blazenwhiperYeah she clearly must’ve felt that Kendo was the main reason they were so close before and now that he was so wrapped up in coding that the only way to get that back was for him to do it again. She probably hated the shit their grandpa was giving her but figured if she toughed it out and made it look fun he’d do it with her again. Kids aren’t the best with sorting their emotions nor dealing with trauma so while she feels he abandoned her it doesn’t mean she’s in the right and considering whatever their grandpa put her though plus whatever loneliness she felt fed into this standoffish/bullying and anti-girly shit persona she developed it eventually just became a sunk cost for her. Kendo is what she does now and Kirito is the source of their problems. And since how she is now just feeds more into an unwillingness to be open and talk about it, it just came to a head in the last episode. Because again, she’s a teenager with some self-hate and repressed anger/emotions and she never dealt with it properly. And while it’s more her fault, tbf Kirito never seemed to noticed (and from her POV, care). I wonder if they’re gonna include him not being related since they (thankfully) dropped the whole incest angle in the show, and if SWE is gonna have a reason of Kirito’s for why he became so distant (you know, aside from Suguha’s bullying).
Well she acknowledged earlier in the episode that she was the problem (at least in part), it isn’t completely logical and her anger is a bit misdirected because clearly the adult in that situation was horrible to her and they are the biggest problem. Still even if you disregard how terribly she was treated, growing apart from your sibling and not being able to communicate that you miss them (and then they also go into a coma) is really hard. It’s all a big mess. It’s not true that everything is Kazuto’s fault, but it is true that she was and is in pain.
