Thanks for sharing this tutorial! I have same exact ironing board, I found it in a thrift store, but did not come with a cover & absolutely cannot find a cover in the stores for it. I wished, however, you’d have explained what type of padding & string to buy though, I have no clue.

I like your easy to follow tutorial! About how many yards of the padding & fabric did you use? Great idea sewing the double-folded hem & using string. Saves on the extra cost of buying Bias Tape & elastic.

Thanks for the kind words! My ironing board is 54" long x 15" wide so 2 yards. If I were to do it again, I would cut the pad at least a 1/2" wider all around. This will allow the pad to fold over the edges of the board. It seems as though the pad I purchased from Amazon is no longer available. The link I posted in the description now links to a smaller pad. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@HacksbyDad I thought the fabric would be about 2 yards, but thought I should double-check. I watched another RU-vid video before & she didn't use any padding. She just put the new cover over the older ones & said that created enough thickness. So, I might do that. Thanks about the tip about cutting it about 1/2 inch wider & the info about the Amazon link (If I do decide to go with the padding). 😊

Also once I lay down the padding how can I make sure the padding doesn’t move? Did you use clips for the padding underneath? If so, what are they called and can I buy them at a Joann’s or Hobby Lobby store? Thank you.

I didn’t secure the padding and it hasn’t moved. You could try an adhesive spray but will need to make sure it can handle the heat from the iron. 😎

I’m guessing Hobby Lobby will have a padding. I got mine from Amazon. The link is in the video description. One thing I would do different is to cut the padding about an inch larger on all sides so the pad covers the edges. 😎
