Your math seems to be a bit off on the idling-for-an-hour figure. Average is about 0.8 gallons of fuel per hour idling, or about $1,900/year at $6.50/gal for an hour a day.

I was going to say the same thing. My truck is on the high end, burning 3 gallons per hour. When I calculated out the idling fuel cost for the truck per year, I hit $20,000, or thereabouts.

If you stop idling, especially in the winter, how much harder is it on the engine and parts to constantly come up to temperature and cool down, how much wear you put by not having oil circulate in the engine? Is it fake economy, if you're saving dollars idling but spending more on parts or oil replacements?

I guess you can’t warm the truck up or most importantly let it cool down after a long haul

If you idle your truck for 10 hours a day 365 days a year with fuel consumption at approximately 0.8 gal per hour you would actually spend only $11,680 at $4 per gallon. In fact if you idle it 24 hours a day 365 days a year you would spend $28,032. So needless to say I think your math is a bit off.

How do you find out what speed your truck is rated for

Just about every "fleet" truck, meaning t680s, cascadias, and internationals, is designed to run between 65 and 68 mph. If you want to go faster than that in those trucks and maintain fuel economy, you have to order it that way. It makes sense that the manufacturers base spec would be what most customers are going to set the truck speed to.

So that would mean u would burn thru about 17gal each day for 1 hour of idling???? Uh...... I'm not a diesel mechanic but his truck is really f@cked up....

His math is way off. You actually only burn approximately 0.8 gal an hour idleing your truck.

Is this a satire video? God I hope so, you could idle for 24 hours a day for a whole year and never touch $40K using the national average. 24hrs X 365days X $3.8 per gallon = $33,288. Thats using 1 gallon per hour, .2 more than average. Hope your driving skills are sharper than your maths supertrucker 🫡
