A friend of mine who scraps old cars said he found a fairly complete old Pontiac with a stuck engine and let me know it was available for purchase before he sent it to the crusher. This Pontiac turned out to be a 1970 Lemans Sport 4 door hardtop with a 350 engine and TH350 transmission. Of course we couldn't pass it up! Let's see if we can get the old Poncho to live once again! This car has been SOLD to another faithful viewer!!! As always, thanks for watching!

im getting kinda tired of watching you wrench on piles of shit and then to only attempt to sell at a much higher price than you bought it... when you actually restore something its good but not spending money to flip its bad...

How do you know what a I paid for it? I think the asking price is quite fair. So all the time we put into that engine to get it running and driving doesn't improve value since I didn't spend any money doing it?

Where do I start, oups, pardon the pun. Color me stupid, but I for one enjoy watching someone else doing what I used to do. I'm not as critical as I used to be.(time wounds all heels) Keep up the good work as even the things that may be redundant to some, tend to jog an antique memory. So, if you don't like what you see, it's simple CHANGE IT!

That is the beauty of his show.. other shows have too much the same acting and it gets boring fast. I know when I click on this show what I'm going to get. Bringing this car back to life from being crushed. Ultimately I know more life. Got her running. It's just awesome. Having the patience going the distance. He has upgraded to a much needed much appreciated shop,, you can see his happiness. The shop that's not full of shiny collector cars piled up on top of each other.. sitting there like trophies. Yes I'd really like to know about that 63 Impala.

In the early 80's I had a total of 14 LeMans. Oldest was 68, newest was 72. Loved them but bought them to flip. Had access to a pipe bender so I kept it simple. Dual exhaust, hush thrush mufflers, and whatever mags I could round up at the local yards. Bolt on HP and curb appeal. Detail with a wax and down the road they went. Here's what I learned about Pontiac cars of that vintage. At 40k miles they wanted a new timing gear set. At 60k miles they wanted outer carrier bearings on the rear. Otherwise if they were properly maintained they were a 200k mile vehicle without anything major. From the wheel swaps over the years I'm guessing (estimate) I have about 60-80 assorted PMD mags. I only kept the complete ones. Rings and such. Had one that had been wrecked before it got it. Whoever did the front clip put the letters in the grill wrong. So that one was a Ponitac lol. I left it for someone else to discover. Good stuff today. I thought this one was a boat anchor in a tin box but you got it to run and drive.

Very cool to see you get that car running again and what had to be done to make it go down the road. To the one guy Joseph who was critical of you reselling those cars, sometimes it's not about the money, it's about the challenge of making it run again and saving it from the compactor. I learned a lot watching you work on these various cars and trucks and appreciate the sharing of the knowledge. Your channel is not restoration but provides more of a look at the mechanics of things. When you are done, yeah maybe there is someone to take it to another level and yeah maybe you break even or make a buck or two on something.... so what! People got to live and pay their bills. Speaking from experience, those Pontiac engines have a couple of odd quirks, one of which is the damned nylon timing gear that loves to spit off a couple of teeth and cause the timing to jump. I don't know if that is what caused this to become a 'no start' back in the day but I wouldn't bet against it, the failure usually happened at engine shut off. Ran good until parked and refused to start again. Good job on waking this one up!

Once again...enginuity, experience, and effort pays off! Lost some time, gained some knowledge, had a bunch of fun, pissed of a couple haters...that's a win all day. Even if it doesn't sell....it's a pile of good GM parts to throw in the stash for future projects. Stuff like this just sharpens your skills, it's basically stress free, and full of comic relief. I've spent a lot of time laughing at myself and my buddies in back yard shops doing stuff just like this. Good times!

Poncho back from the grave! I didn't give her much of a chance of being resuscitated... Mortske magic once again. A LOT of work, but she seems to run pretty well. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for reminding me of my lemans.nothing beats a pontiac in my book.there not many left to see.they use to be around in the 80s, what ever v8 they came with, had power. all big block burn rubber cars.it would make a cool pimp sleeper.keep them pontiacs coming they steel the show..

I bought a 71 in 77. It was a two door. Only year they called it a T37. I think it was a slightly upgraded trim level on the Tempest. Same engine and tranny as the one you have in the 70. It was a strong runner. On the Pontiac V8's, they were all big blocks. The only small block was the inline six. Some had an overhead cam with a four barrel carb, they ran strong too. The only weak spot on them was the fiber toothed cam shaft sprocket. Designed to be quieter than steel. Lasted around 75k miles. Run great, then one time you shut it off it won't start.

Sister had a '72 creampuff LeMans- 350 two-barrel, would cruise at 90 without even breathing hard. You had to keep an eye on the speedo. Long gone.

Hey Mortske: Its amazing to see you working on a Pontiac sedan like the one that I had grown up with.... We had a '69 Custom S that was a pain in the ass to keep running... You did a top notch job getting it back to life and Duff really enjoyed it as well... A case of sammitches is in store for you for to keep bringing it back to life!!! The Custom S had a 326 engine that was a definite kick in the pants to keep it on the road.... From the home of PB Blaster Silicone spray.... Cleveland, Ohio....

Mortske--I LOVED your knots to mph conversion--of course, it was just a leeeeeetle bit off, but, damn, it was funny. Also, though slightly perverse, I love it when you break stuff. So pure.
